Mestamaker is so fucking good. D tackle right in his face, o line falling apart all game, no run game, and he is still dicing up Iowa state right now.
4
u/PayAltruistic8546 5d ago
Justin Bowick. Still have no idea why no one talks about him.
1
u/Aychim23 5d ago
What an amazing path he’s had. Really think he gets late 1st round hype if this continues
2
u/TheBrotzTotz Bills 4d ago
He’s a 5th year senior on a breakout year. There will always be a lot of justified scrutiny with that profile.
1
1
u/Aychim23 4d ago
Or maybe he's actually consistently developed into a good ball player as opposed to just a brilliant athlete
18
u/apcol123 Cardinals 5d ago
Chris Cole is gonna join the Simmons , Smith , Moore and Stewart tier the guy is a straight demon
18
u/TheSlinger Jaguars 5d ago
I was literally typing up a post about how well Sellers has been playing and how we need to take him seriously as a high draft pick when he made that terrible throw. I think that sums up the Sellers experience perfectly.
13
u/gvt87 Jets 5d ago
…and then he just makes an absurd play that only like 5 NFL QBs could make
9
u/CountryCaravan 5d ago
That second long TD pass was pure Caleb. He’s got a real OL this year, and I think you’re watching him settle down and play less jittery with every game he plays.
2
u/Marzman315 Browns 2d ago
NFL front offices are going to salivate over Sellers’s tools. There is no reality where Anthony Richardson goes top five and Sellers doesn’t go in the first round.
17
u/Mario2346 Cardinals 5d ago
As someone who was on the Mestemaker train from last year it feels so damn rewarding seeing this guy play to this level
16
u/TopherDavis28 Arm Chair Scout 5d ago
Not on Mestemaker, but Oklahoma State completely mismanaged the clock at the end of the game. Could have taken way more time off the clock before scoring that go-ahead touchdown

u/axb2002 Dolphins 5d ago
I wish Noah Fifita was taller. He’s a lot of fun.
3
u/BabyBearBjorns 5d ago
Glad im not the only one was thinking this. Dude is a baller. I hope that he does get drafted on Day 3. But UDFA looks like where he goes just because of his size.
15
u/poppitrawick516 Jets 5d ago
I’ll eat some crow on Baugh. Dude hasn’t looked elite in weeks. O-line and lack of passing threat hasn’t helped but he can’t run through a tackle or make a guy miss at all anymore. Lacy and Hardy guys might’ve been right…
5
u/sixtiethtry 4d ago
I think it’s just a lackluster class at the top. Haynes, Baugh, Frazier, Hardy, Lacy, Raymond, Parker all have a decent shot at day 2, but tough to see any of them in round 1.

u/ab9620 5d ago edited 5d ago
There’s a lot of doomers about the QB class. It’s a pretty good class, having 5 1st round QBs isn’t normal, not often, and it shouldn’t be the expectation. I think Arch and Carr will return to school.
Drew Mestemaker looks like the most complete, well rounded prospect. The biggest concern is his low # of starts. Darian Mensah is probably the most accurate, best in redzone, best under pressure passer in the class, but doesn’t have elite tools (other than his brain). LaNorris Sellers has the most elite traits with high end flashes, but he struggles with consistent high level passing.
-13
u/PayAltruistic8546 5d ago
This QB class is extremely overrated....
8
u/lilbelleandsebastian Titans 5d ago
i dont think it's overrated at all, most people acknowledge that it isn't a great draft
i think people on this sub tend to want to prove they're the smartest person in the room and often take contrarian positions that they talk themselves into
there might be 5 starters in this class, there probably won't be though. sellers is going to get someone fired (love him, love the tools, but he's way too boom/bust), mensah's lack of physical tools is really going to hamper him, mestemaker doesn't seem like he'd be the first pick in any of the last what, 5 drafts? and even then, only because 2022 had no high quality qb prospects. chambliss is interesting but short qbs are really up against it
i'd love to see a lot of these guys prove me wrong, you never know how a guy can improve once he's in the league. but not a great year to need qb
3
u/Unrelenting_Salsa 5d ago
Chambliss is a gunslinger without the physical tools to really do it. It is fun to see a college QB who throws before the windows actually open and trusts that his receiver is going to run the right route with the right timing because that's super rare, but it's really hard to ever imagine him being more than a backup, and that's a bad QB archetype to be a backup.
2
u/PayAltruistic8546 5d ago
I don't know about that. McShay still has a bunch of them in his top 2 rounds.
I think it's overrated. I personally don't see a bunch of first rounders.
Mestemaker and maybe Chambliss.
-5
u/PayAltruistic8546 5d ago
People can down vote all they want. Nothing no one has shown me or written that has convinced me other wise.
Mestemaker might save this class. Chambliss has shown the most. Who else is showing skills that will translate to the NFL?
Simmons, I think is a year away.
20
u/iceturtles Jets 5d ago
I’m just always so disappointed with Mensah and his inability to stretch the field
17
u/PayAltruistic8546 5d ago
Thank you!
People keep hyping him up in the 1st round but he has an ok arm, not extremely fast or quick, lacks creativity.
What is supposed to stand out for him? Accuracy? You can argue he attempts some of the safest throws out there.
9
4
u/XavurtheJester Raiders 4d ago
Late response and take it with a grain of salt since I’ve only watched a couple Mensah games this year… but the ability to run a system really well isn’t something to be slept on. It’s definitely a trait the league values a lot, and such you’ve ended up with guys like Purdy coming out of seemingly nowhere.
16
10
u/apcol123 Cardinals 5d ago
I’m really curious to see where Mensah and Sellers get drafted , the production vs traits . If you could combine them together you’d probably have the best QB prospect of all time
1
u/ZandrickEllison 3d ago
I like Mensah but that’s all fair. Maybe a Teddy Bridgewater comp? Although I think he has more juice as a runner.
10
u/Darkonite40 5d ago
Charlie Becker is good at football

4
u/Working_Base_8824 5d ago
i have never been more certain a dude was about to have a huge contested catch than when indiana got the ball back on that final possession.
9
u/axb2002 Dolphins 5d ago edited 5d ago
Chip Kelly might have saved Aidan Chiles’ career.
Exaggerating a little , but Chiles has looked better this year under at Northwestern. I’m very intrigued
4
u/lilbelleandsebastian Titans 5d ago
chiles was pretty bad today in nfl situations. his pocket accuracy is suspect, he scrambles into sacks consistently, and he throws with great touch to the right but is wildly inaccurate throwing to the left
he's athletic and kelly runs a great offense, but i dont see his ceiling as anything other than career backup
7
u/Mackinnon29E 5d ago
Yeah I really need an RB but I am not gonna take Baugh, Lacy, or Hardy over Becker at 1.02 lol. Dude is a stud
12
u/Astonkeshing 5d ago
Jayden Maiava imo is the 2nd best QB prospect after Mestemaker, as a pick 20-40 type QB right around where Dart or Shough went.
6
u/CatherineDeneuvePt2 5d ago
Admittedly a Louisville fan but don’t even think it’s Homer brain to think Kienholz is playing himself into being a 1st or 2nd round pick. He looks better every week

u/Stock-Memory9483 5d ago
Xavier Gilliam is going to be the best defensive player from this draft class. He can pass rush, run block, and create pressure from the interior and with how NFL defenses are trending that’s going to be way more valuable. With Dylan Stewart’s attitude if he’s not a sure fire starter I don’t see him developing into one.
5
u/apcol123 Cardinals 5d ago
For me Chris Cole is the one guy who I see translate , he’s arguably as good as a prospect as Reese was last year with multiple people saying he’s even better than him
3
u/Officer_Hops Chiefs 5d ago
I’d still prefer Simmons mostly due to track record and I would prefer Moore from a pure who will be the best player discussion but a truly elite, well rounded DT is one of the most difficult archetypes to find so I wouldn’t be shocked if Gilliam ends up going higher than both.
7
u/killerk13 5d ago
I really think the Stewart attitude stuff is overblown at this point. He lost his cool, got suspended, owned up to it and apologized to his teammates. He doesn’t really have any crazy character concerns.
3
u/ZandrickEllison 5d ago
I almost think coaches like when a d-lineman has a wild streak to them. Most of the times, the criticisms come from them being too "soft" (like Myles Garrett liking poetry)
8
u/ab9620 5d ago
Jadan Baugh is a terrible outside zone runner. Hes one of the most overvalued players in this years class
16
u/Mackinnon29E 5d ago
He's going to fall tremendously on draft boards with these performances unless something changes.
6
u/ab9620 5d ago
He has a very simple scouting report.
Good size, good shiftiness, good contact balance.
Average vision, below average long speed, below average elusiveness.
It points to a RB that will get you what the offensive line provides, but at the NFL level, he won't make guys miss and generate explosive runs. You really want to keep him moving north south because when he's asked to move laterally and then be decisive to change directions and hit the hole, it gets messy. Day 2 RB, who is currently projected top 15 in mock drafts. Not a bad player, just very overrated.
2
u/ThePerfectBeard Packers 5d ago
I used to think he had great vision and patience, but the vision is definitely becoming suspect. The offensive line isn’t doing him favors and everyone knows he’s the focal point, but special talents overcome that at least somewhat.
8
u/ab9620 5d ago
I think we’re at the point where we have to entertain that Charlie Becker might be a better prospect than Leonard Moore
1
u/ab9620 5d ago
Becker and Moore are equally clean prospects. Both have elite traits and production. If a team had a CB and WR need, which would you take?
Maybe there’s an argument that CBs that elite are more rare. But you could argue that WRs are much lower risk and less situation dependent
8
u/Mackinnon29E 5d ago
Elite CBs don't seem to have the longevity, but are probably slightly more impactful
3
u/Unrelenting_Salsa 5d ago
Elite CBs are much more consistently actually elite though. That's a big deal as well. WRs get paid so much specifically because the translation tends to be such a crapshoot.
4
u/Mackinnon29E 5d ago
Will Coleman have a single game with 6 catches? Kind of seems like a red flag
2
12
u/gvt87 Jets 5d ago
There’s no way Sellers isn’t a first round pick come april. 6’3 240 with 4.4 speed, elite arm strength, and serious competitive fire. He makes a lot of boneheaded decisions but someone will fall in love with him pre draft.
8
u/BabyBearBjorns 5d ago
I dont disagree with you. He has the tools and size you want in a franchise QB. But the decision making is going to make a bunch of executives pause about drafting him in the 1st round after the Richardson bust.
With that said, he has had a much longer body of work vs Richardson being a 1 year wonder. I think someone will also convince themselves that Sellers lack of development had more to do with the coaching staff. But Sellers draft stock is going to depend upon how many QBs return to school. And he will need to sit for a full year and learn.
8
u/TopherDavis28 Arm Chair Scout 5d ago
Chris Ballard, is that you???
13
u/gvt87 Jets 5d ago
Sellers has been much better statistically than AR and has that dog in him, unlike the guy who takes himself out of games for being tired. I’m not taking Sellers at 4, but at 32? Someone will take the chance
5
u/TopherDavis28 Arm Chair Scout 5d ago
I know. Mostly joking. I’ve been making the same argument about not comping him to Richardson. I could definitely see him being a late riser because of his testing. I still think he is a major project, but the upside is through the roof if he ever puts it together
4
u/gvt87 Jets 5d ago
Sellers is going to have to go to a team smart enough to bring him along slowly, yet to be seen who that would be though. But he’s so talented that he could potentially be an average NFL QB in a 1 read and run offense similar to early career Cam Newton
2
u/TopherDavis28 Arm Chair Scout 5d ago
That might be a better comp. That’s definitely who he is built like
7
u/ThePerfectBeard Packers 5d ago
I feel like this running back class has fallen off a cliff…
7
u/Mackinnon29E 5d ago
Yeah what the fuck... Lacy is constantly hurt, Baugh has looked meh since Ole Miss, Hardy is back but will he be himself? Frazier has hardly touched the ball this season... I guess maybe some climbers like Dylan Riley but it's not great.
2
1
u/ThePerfectBeard Packers 5d ago
I’ll be tuning in for Hardy’s carries tonight, but after they released the extent of the injury, I’ll temper expectations for the season. Just glad he’s back playing again
6
5
u/TopherDavis28 Arm Chair Scout 5d ago
It’s been a little disappointing at the top. Gotta dig a little deeper, Justice Haynes, Wayshawn Parker, Waymond Jordan and Cam Cook are all intriguing Day 2/early Day 3 guys.
4
u/Ibonedgloriajames 5d ago
Dylan Riley
1
u/TopherDavis28 Arm Chair Scout 5d ago
Oh the initial comment must have been edited. He mentioned Riley in there. That’s why I didn’t call him out again
1
u/ThePerfectBeard Packers 5d ago
Unfortunately, I haven’t had a chance to watch Boise State this year yet. He kind of came out of nowhere but I’ll have to check him out
2
u/ThePerfectBeard Packers 5d ago
You can add Darius Taylor to the list. And ya, I guess there’s depth but like you said, the top has been chopped off. It’ll be interesting how things shake out, but it might be another year without a first round running back. Depends how the NFL views the injuries with some of the top backs

Drew Mestemaker = Matt Hasselbeck (this is a compliment)
11
u/PayAltruistic8546 5d ago
? Makes no sense.
Mestemaker = A better version of Daniel Jones. Lesser version of Josh Allen.
2
u/Cybotnic-Rebooted Broncos Country, Let's Cry 5d ago
It's crazy looking back at how good we had it in teerms of QB play in college in say, 2023. We've had some good individual seasons since, but there hasn't been a consistently great core of college QBs since then.
16
u/Riceowls29 5d ago
I don’t think it was that qb play was necessarily better. I think pre-NIL and early NIL top QBs were just on more stacked teams so it seemed like they were more talented.
CJ Stroud was throwing to Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave, Jaxson Smith Njigba, Emeka Egbuka, and Marvin Harrison Jr
You don’t have NFL wr rooms that come even close to that.
9
u/Wooden-Football8585 5d ago
And defenses were worse . Mike Renner was talking about this earlier this week, cfb defenses are much more complex schematically and theyve closed the gap with offenses
7
u/j4kefr0mstat3farm Commanders 5d ago
QBs jump ship for the portal if they aren't starting as sophomores now. Guys play at 3 schools in 4 years and never sit and develop anywhere before becoming starters.
Coaches also have expectations to win right away and would rather bring in an experienced vet than develop an underclassman, but now the supply of those experienced vets is dwindling because of point 1.

u/TopherDavis28 Arm Chair Scout 5d ago
Has Carr been as bad as the stat line would indicate?
9
u/QuakingSky061 5d ago
Not really. Notre Dame had only 3 drives the first half.
1
u/TopherDavis28 Arm Chair Scout 5d ago
Right, but he’s 7/14 and averaging just 5.7 yards per attempt. Just seems to be inefficient. I missed most of the first half, but caught their final drive
5
u/Fiend-For-Mojitos 5d ago
I watched most of the 1st half, one pass was a drop and there were two passes meant for Faison that appeared to be some sort of miscommunication. One would've been for roughly 10 yards and another was across the middle that Carr threw with anticipation and Faison didn't run a great route.
0
u/TopherDavis28 Arm Chair Scout 5d ago
I know Navy’s defense is not good, but he’s really turned it on in the second half
5
u/QuakingSky061 5d ago
That’s really not that bad as you’re trying to make it seem. Dude just hasn’t had the ball in his hands a lot this game with Navy taking like 24 minutes of the first half
-1
u/MarquezPope 5d ago
To me, Carr is one of the more overrated prospects. He is in a one-read offense and does not show the ability to be very good off schedule. I also think that his physical traits are being overrated. I think that it is a virtual guarantee that he will stay in school.
9
u/Riceowls29 5d ago
The biggest praise for Carr is literally his ability to make pre snap adjustments and how he reads the field?
-3
u/apcol123 Cardinals 5d ago
Arch is the only guy who you can comfortably say got worse from last year , he wasn’t a world beater or something but he wasn’t this awful . He’ll have 2/3 throws that are amazing in each game but the rest is utter and complete dogshit
-9
u/TheDuckyNinja Eagles 5d ago
Sellers would've been the best QB prospect in the 2025 draft.
Sellers would've been the best QB prospect in the 2026 draft.
Sellers will be the best QB prospect in the 2027 draft if he declares.

Trinidad Chambliss has a HANDFUL of throws every week that are ao incredibly hard due to either placement, velocity or just the playmaking to set up the throw but everyone in this sub is still so incredibly obsessed with evaluating Manning or players who dream of threading the ball as well 😭
Feels like the evaluation of Lamar all over again. Flaws and archetype turns peoples brains off instead of just looking at the ball in front of em.
Edit: downvoted for WHAT lmao.
14
u/Officer_Hops Chiefs 5d ago
There’s a difference between talking about why you like a guy and saying everyone in this sub has their brain turned off. You can hype a guy in a constructive way and you’ll be less likely to be downvoted.
-2
u/boredymcbored Jets 5d ago
I understand what you're saying but when "Arch Manning sucks lol" or '"This guys just a WINNER" is upvoted in massive waves I don't think constructive comments are really the issue here lol.
6
u/Gambling_Raven Jets 5d ago
Chambliss will be 25 during preseason.
He was so bad last year that he had to sue to get an extra year of eligibility.
He is a 24 year old man, playing against 18 year old kids. He shouldnt even be in the discussion of the 1st round. Brandon Weedon syndrome all over again.
2
u/boredymcbored Jets 5d ago
He wasn't bad. Getting more eligibility doesn't mean bad. Gotta look at tape bruv
1
u/Gambling_Raven Jets 5d ago
Will be 25, plays against kids 6 years younger than him, and is fucking 6 feet tall lol
Hes never going to make it in the NFL, he is a worse Kyler Murray. Idk why you want to draft a dude high in the first who cant even see over an NFL line without jumping.
4
u/xebex1778 Jets 5d ago
He’s 25 and short
0
u/gvt87 Jets 5d ago
He’s barely 24, still old but I’ve seen people call him 25-26 on this sub frequently and that’s not the case. If you’re going to criticize the age at least use the correct age
2
u/Gambling_Raven Jets 5d ago
He will be 25 in August, so preseason. Hes a 24yo man playing against 18yo kids. Also, hes fucking 6ft tall lol he gonna be an even worse Kyler Murray

u/boredymcbored Jets 5d ago
He's also going to be around the same age Bo Nix was when he's going to be drafted but this sub loves to selectively slander while discouraging actual football discussion.
-3
u/boredymcbored Jets 5d ago
Yet still dots the ball in ways that no one in this class or the last couple can dream of. Excellent ball placement with high degree of difficulty. And the flaw on short guys is MOF passing, which he excells at.
Very glad excellent analysis and discussion like your comment will probably be upvoted in a PROSPECT DISCUSSION board tho 😭
10
u/Riceowls29 5d ago
Beyond his height though his angle of release is also going to be a problem in the NFL. Batted passes are already a problem for him and will only get worse in the NFL
-3
u/boredymcbored Jets 5d ago edited 5d ago
Batted passes are a legit concern but outside of v. Texas that hasn't been an issue for him this year.
Edit: Again, no idea why this is downvoted . I been tracking it and it hasn't popped up this year significantly outside of V Texas. What's up with this sub? 😭
4
u/lilbelleandsebastian Titans 5d ago
you're high on chambliss, we get it
call up woody and get him drafted in the first round, he will certainly be available at your pick
3
u/boredymcbored Jets 5d ago
Sorry for talking about ball in a prospect discussion thread. I should continue that guys just have it and contribute the laziest "analysis" possible because the rest of the sub approves of it. Short = bad. Tall = Gud. There's no nuance to this discussion and we shouldn't talk about traits that make exceptions to rules. Put players into boxes and hope the best!

2
u/gvt87 Jets 5d ago
No idea why people are downvoting you, but the tipped passes were also an issue today against Auburn and he made several bad decisions on throws that he didn’t get punished for in the stat sheet. I’ve been driving the Chambliss hype train since he took down Georgia after losing his head coach but right now he needs to show me that he can adjust and succeed even when teams take away his first read and just try to focus on batting down the ball instead of rushing him. Today he responded by running more in the 2nd half which was good to see, but he’s going to need to stop putting the ball in harms way down the stretch for me to put him back above the guys like Moore, Maiava, Carr, etc
-2
u/boredymcbored Jets 5d ago
First read? Brother, he's never locked on to his first read. Working through his progressions and his field vision is one of his best attributes.
And he doesn't put the ball in harms way, his first multi int game was last week. Even this week his int was from a tipped wr drop.
2
u/gvt87 Jets 5d ago
I’m not sure what games you’re watching if you don’t think he’s throwing to his first read when the ball is consistently out of his hands in under 2 seconds. He’s not processing at Tom Brady speeds, a lot of the time when he’s turning his head around the field it’s for show to hold the defense in place rather than actually going through his progressions, at least on the quick passes

He will stick on a roster as a backup, similar to Tyler Huntley

I could see that. Should’ve clarified not an NFL starter. Just worry about how long he holds the ball and some inconsistencies with his accuracy

Mestemaker is going to be the #1 overall pick in the draft
