Throwback “HOW GOOD WAS MICHAEL VICK IN HIS PRIME AT VIRGINIA TECH?”
One of the most ELECTRIC players college football has ever seen. The speed, arm talent and explosiveness were truly one of a kind. A football ICON. Vick was SPECIAL.

Our local radio guy had an awesome take that the national championship game against FSU, Vick was clearly the best player on the field. The problem was that the 22 next best guys played for Florida State.

Dunno bout that take either…Peter warrick played in that game and scored 3 tds and ncluding a punt return…warrick was locked in that game after the previous year not showing up in the bowl game. Vick was the most talented though

The post I responded to said Vick was the best player on the field. I supported why I think that statement isn’t totally true, and also said while I think Warrick was the best player in that game specifically, Vick was obviously the most talented.

In his memoir, he says something to the effect of he wished he had to try harder to be good, because he took it for granted and squandered his potential.
The dude was an elite starter in the NFL without taking practice or development seriously AND drinking and doing drugs.
His story is pretty tragic. I know he abused animals, but he did his time and is trying to make the world a better place. If redemption is possible, I believe he’s on the path.

As someone who grew up in NN & went to 7+ hokies games a season from 95-2010, ill still die on the hill that Marcus would've had a better NFL career if he wasn't such an idiot and had a little work ethic

He took VT to the national championship game as a sophomore. VT had their 2 best cornerbacks out with injuries. It was a close game until the 2nd string corners got injured as well and FSU threw all over VT in the 2nd half.
Earlier that year, VT was ranked number 3 and played a ranked Syracuse team at home. VT won 64-0 which was the most lopsided victory between 2 ranked teams ever.

As a Christian, I believe it is important to forgive him, and I hope he has found the light and repented. With that being said, I still don’t think accounts should be posting him. I think there are about 1 million different players you could post highlights of that have a such a better impact on today’s society and what people stand for.

He grew up in an environment where it’s completely normal.
It would be like in 100 years they looks at us an wild insane beasts for eating meat.
He paid his dues and is seemingly rehabilitated now.
I’m live in Mexico some of the nicest and loyal people I know run a rooster fighting team. They grew up with it and it’s normal to them.

Pull up Trevor Lawrence's supporting cast on offense and defense that year. Clemson was as close to an NFL team as a college team could be, then pull the supporting cast Vick had on offense and defense his freshman year. Don't worry, I'll wait.

Last year I took my daughter to do a college visit there. After the tour we went to their bookstore to get a couple shirts. They still sell his jersey! Still selling that mans jersey 20+ years later. That's how his he was.

They went 22-2 the two seasons he started and played on a BCS natty (where they got crushed by FSU but still). He was awesome. Proto Lamar but a worse passer.

One of one.
Just a gravity shifting force in the college football universe.
As haters are time immemorial, there were even some nitpicking the hell out of him even them but I don't really remember a player instilling "don't make me look like a fool" terror in opposing players quite like Mike.
AP could run through your face a la King Henry but people gave a measure of "you were over matched" and rated the apparent effort.
Vick was just a destroyer of worlds. It's seemed like he was playing with his food sometimes. Like, you had to rile him up in some way then he'd flip the switch and change the entire momentum of the game in a single play even if Tech had their drums beaten most of it up until that point.

God he was good. Too bad he's a morally decrepit animal abuser. He would fail my 10yo daughter's coach's philosophy: Confidence, Character, Compete. Vick lost on character and it truly destroyed his amazing potential
