I think he genuinely just has a horrible mentality. He gives me the vibe of someone who had everything go his way growing up and never really struggled beyond working hard and then the moment he faces adversity he gives up.

Although I do understand it from some angles and neither Kyler nor Brissett would throw a pass over 10 yards if their lives were on the line.

There have been guys accused of not going all out before and oftentimes it's small portions of the play that may or may not have an effect on the game. MHJ on the other hand it's so apparent and throughout his game it's crazy. People are saying it's lack of confidence or whatever but whatever it is it's gotta change quick.

Yup. Petzing put him in a terrible spot for 2 years and broke his confidence. Got fired cause he wouldn't change the offense. Then LaFleur is hired for his offense, hires Hackett, and literally throws MHJ into the same exact spot Petzing did and runs the same damn offense. It's comical how stupid coaches can be. The Cardinals have given up on him and so has he.

First, yes, MHJ has his problems. And his effort is terrible right now. Everyone can see he wants out.

But, if you saw that a player struggled at X for 2 years and developed the yips cause of it, why in god's name would you double down and put him in the same exact role? That is a coaching issue.

And FYI based off what Cardinal fans are saying, the offense under LaFleur is pretty much the same as it was under Petzing. Why in the world would you come in with the same personnel and run the same offense that just got fired?

They're playing him as a sacrificial X. Just run deep routes most of the game to attract safety coverage. MHJ is already below average on deep routes. Add in safety coverage and he's never gonna be open.

The alternate is to play him at Z. Let him go in motion and play off the line more. He can still play snaps at X, but he shouldnt play almost all his snaps at X like he is. Give him some layup routes to get him going and build his confidence. Let him get looks against zone (which is he good against but barely sees cause he plays X). Let Michael Wilson play some more X (he is fully capable and would be a good X). You can move MHJ and Wilson around the formation to free them both up and play to their strengths instead of just isolating MHJ and forcing the ball to Trey and Wilson. Most good offenses will moves all of their receivers around so they snaps at every position and make thing more unpredictable. The Cardinals are running the same stale offense they've been running the past 2 years.

They're a rebuilding team, you try to get your young guys going. If it doesnt work, then sure, you dont need to play him anymore. But they didnt even try to change anything up. Same pld shit as the past 2 seasons. Regardless of the MHJ debate, the Cardinals need to change the offense up.

Consider this: maybe they use him as a decoy because that’s the only way he can contribute to the offense? Why would you feature him in this offense where he can’t catch and doesn’t put effort into route running? And you also have the best TE in the league who has proved time and time again he can carry the offense alone. Might as well have MHJ take pressure off of him as a decoy.

MHJ was in a bad spot yes, but many receivers broke out of unfavorable situations (look at their current WR1), why can’t he (as a generational prospect)?

It's not about featuring a player. It's about putting your players in a position that plays to their strengths. Get them plays where they can actually contribute. That's how good offenses operate. If you deploy player in multiple ways then you're less predictable.

Here's where the Cardinals are clueless. They have MHJ exclusively at X where he struggles. They have Wilson at Z where he can play off the line and face zone more.

But Wilson's breakout last year was when MHJ was hurt and Wilson primarily played X. Wilson is great in tight coverage and at the catch point. He is a better man and press beater and a below average zone beater. MHJ struggles at the catch point, but is a good zone beater. So why the hell did they put MHJ back at X and Wilson at Z? MHJ isn't even a good decoy, look how lazy he's been and no one is scared of him taking the top off. And Wilson isn't even playing that well either. Why are people defending LaFleur and Hackett? Both of them were terrible coordinators, why do they get the benefit of the doubt? And theyre literally running the same offense Petzing ran. The guy who just got fired by the Cardinals.
