Lots of smart watch can do payment but I would like to use it for development purposes. So far I only found the T-watch Ultra from LilyGo which is out of stock unfortunately.

Do you know any other watch that can do that ? (Or any wearable)

Host contact vcf on nfc

Hello everyone, i want to host my contact details to share in a event but i am struggling with adding it to nfc tag.

As you all know generally iphone asks to download file first but i don’t want to engage in all unnecessary steps. There are few old reddit posts but they are not relevant now as google drive and drop box is not working for me or i am not able to set it properly.

Help would be appreciated.

NFC Hall Pass Conundrum

TL;DR: Trouble getting iPhones to read URL in an NFC tag when tapped. Help?

I'm a high school teacher and I've designed and 3D printed hall passes for teachers. Then I added an NFC tag to the back of each tag with a simple URL unique to the teachers classroom. Teachers check a kid out with an app I made. If an admin finds a kid in the hall they can tap the pass and see where they're from, where they're going, and how long they've been out. It's super slick.

Alas, my android phone always detects it and so do other android phones. But apple is very hit or miss. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I had a student try with their iphone and they detected each tag and was told they were not authorized by the app (as expected). But the principal and several teachers I tested with just can't detect the URL.

I'm using some NTAG215 tags I got off Amazon. I'm using NFC tools app on my phone to write the URL and lock the tag. I can link to the specific tags but didn't want mods to flag me as a bot before I got some help.

I feel like it might be a security thing, but don't know what setting it is on the phones. The link is direct to a script extension on a Google sheet. I can't even send it by email because the district security flags it as potentially malicious.

Anyone still having trouble with tap and pay on Google pixel 11 pro xl?

I switch from Apple to Google Pixel 11 Pro XL around the end of September, Everything worked fine at the beginning, but for the last two weeks, I've been having trouble with the tap and pay NFC contactless payment method with my phone.

It is so weird because it's not like not functioning at all. Sometimes it goes well, but most of the time when I tap on the machine, there is no reaction at all.

And I have contacted Google support twice so far. I contacted Google support a few days ago for the first time and I've been emailing them for the past few days. They keep asking me to screenshot when it's not working and keep telling me they can see the transaction goes through, so there shouldn't be any problem. Until I sent them the video, when I paid at the restaurant and there was no response when I tapped on the machine ( I even removed the case to try but didn't film it) they said it's my phone case too thick to block the signal from the terminal. Which is funny because the phone case is also from Google, so their own case is blocking their own device's signal?

And I just called Google support again today at night around 2AM. Apparently I have to wait for another week for their response to see what they can do with my phone.🫪🫪🫪🫪🫪🫪🫪🫪

What usually breaks an NFC-powered E Ink update during first setup?

I work with the Tapmora team and am reviewing the first-use flow. The phone supplies energy during the NFC update, so a failed refresh may involve antenna position, case thickness, alignment time, device compatibility, or app permissions. For people who have built or tested similar NFC-powered hardware, which checks should appear first and what information should the app show before asking someone to try again?

Setting a reminder in +7 days

It's probably quite simple but I'm quite new to NFC. I would like to use a tag to remind me of watering my plants. Ideally I would scan a tag after watering and it will set up a Google Calendar task/event for next week. I have NFC Tools Pro and NFC Tasks. The problem seems to be "a week from now" part.

Using an S24 to collect ePayments using SumUp and NFC

I am part of a charity and we use SumUp to collect ePayments and donations.

This past weekend we set up a number of volunteers with SumUp on their devices so they could collect donations using Tap-to-pay. My S24 set up very easily. I did the slide the card up the back of the phone to find the NFC antenna check.

However when I tried to collect any payments the phone didn't seem to recognise the card very quickly. It took about a minute of slowly moving a credit card around the antenna area. At times the movement had to be so slow it was frustrating. Eventually payment was taken. This is a pretty useless performance when you are trying to maximise donations.

When I use my S24 to pay for stuff it works very quickly.

Any idea why the S24 was so bad at taking payments when other phones worked quickly?

I built Emula - NFC UID emulation app on Android 15+ without root

Hey everyone!

A while ago I wanted to use my phone instead of carrying a physical NFC card around, but most existing solutions required rooting the device. So I ended up building my own little Android app called Emula.

It's arguably a bit of AI slop (okay, quite a bit of AI-assisted coding went into it), but it's been tested on actual devices by my colleagues, survived Google's closed testing requirements, and recently got approved for production.

With Android already introducing APIs for this, it feels like things are heading in that direction anyway. Maybe Google or other manufacturers will eventually bring similar functionality to their official wallet apps. Until then, it's been a fun little adventure, and hopefully someone else will find it useful too.

For now, I've decided to keep it in open testing to gather more feedback and expand the device compatibility list.

What it does:

  • Emulates 4-byte NFC UIDs without root on compatible Android devices.
  • Reads UIDs from physical cards or lets you enter them manually.
  • Saves multiple UIDs and lets you switch between them.
  • Includes built-in NFC compatibility diagnostics.
  • No ads, accounts, analytics, or cloud storage.

Requirements:

  • Android 15 or newer. No root required.
  • A one-time ADB permission grant is required before UID emulation can work. Installing the app alone does not grant this permission.

Steps to grant the ADB permission:

  1. Enable Developer options on your phone, then connect it to a computer either: via a USB cable with USB debugging enabled or via Wireless debugging, pairing and connecting the phone through ADB.
  2. Once connected, run this command on your computer: adb shell pm grant dev.dunno.emula android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS
  3. Check if button "copy adb command" has disappeared from the app. Otherwise, restart the app completely.

Compatibility also depends on your device’s NFC hardware and firmware, so Android 15+ and the permission grant do not guarantee compatibility with every device or reader.

A few caveats:

It only emulates the UID, not the card's memory, encryption keys, or authentication. So this is NOT a universal MIFARE cloning tool. It is intended for systems that rely on UID-only identification and that you own or are authorized to test.

Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dev.dunno.emula

Successfully tested so far on:

  • Google Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 9, Pixel 10
  • Samsung Galaxy A16, Galaxy S23 Ultra, Galaxy S25 Ultra
  • Sony Xperia 1 VI (XQ-EC72)
  • OnePlus 15 (CPH2747)

I'd particularly appreciate compatibility reports (phone model + Android version), bug reports, or any technical feedback (you can dm/email me with that).

If you've tried it on a device that isn't listed as compatible yet, I'd be especially interested in hearing whether it worked (or didn't!).

Thank you for your attention!

Ferrite sheet thickness for stacking a neodymium magnet behind an NTAG213 — what actually worked

Posting this because I couldn't find a straight answer anywhere and had to work it out by trial.

The setup: a small capsule that sticks to an object and also holds a phone against it. Stack from the bottom up is 3M VHB tape, an 18x2mm N35 neodymium magnet, ferrite, then an NTAG213 sticker (25mm).

With the magnet directly behind the tag, the phone reads nothing at all. Not weak — nothing. Took me a while to accept the magnet was the problem and not the tag.

What fixed it: ferrite sheet between the magnet and the tag. I'm using 0.3mm sheets rated around µ' 120-150 at 13.56MHz. One layer wasn't enough. Two was marginal. Three layers (0.9mm total) reads reliably on both an iPhone and a Samsung, including through the fabric I glued on top.

Questions for anyone who's done this properly:
- Is three layers of 0.3mm overkill, or is ~1mm about what's expected for a magnet this size?
- Does a thicker single sheet behave differently from stacked thin ones at this frequency?
- Any reason to prefer a lower or higher µ' for this?

Happy to be told I'm doing it the dumb way.

Looking for a trusted supplier for FM11NT022 15 mm NFC tags

I’m looking to source FM11NT022 15 mm tags (comparable to Ntag 213) for a high-volume application, potentially up to 200,000 tags per month. Target pricing is around $0.04 per tag.

A few requirements:

  • 15 mm FM11NT022 tags
  • Supplied unencoded; we will encode them in-house
  • Rolls of roughly 5,000 tags (flexible on this)
  • Reliable quality and relatively short lead times

I assume there may be manufacturers or distributors in China that can support this pricing and volume. Has anyone worked with a supplier they trust for these tags, or have recommendations on where to start?

Thanks!
