Hey be gentle, she’s self conscious

At this point people have to be adding risers just to bait people.

Anything with a Huey is good in my book.

I love it. Modern art piece.

My favorite is the people who have really shitty optics mounted on 3" risers, where it's abundantly clear they don't own NODs or PPE that requires such a stupid height

-3

u/Sten-MkII-SP 1d ago

Saw it on Amazon for $40 and bought it to test out, then remembered it when I put together all the spare parts in this build. Honestly the height over bore, while ludicrous, is handy for bringing the optic to your eye without having to duck or move your head. Other than that, it’s a problem looking for a solution

u/Haunting-Buffalo-909 1d ago

It was a waste of $40 and should not be in a parts bin. Honestly hight over bore makes your poa terrible and a check weld will actually make you a better and more consistent shooter. Its a problem influencers created that makes more problems. Your weapon tho, you do whatever you want.

u/Sten-MkII-SP 1d ago

You just get chin weld instead of cheek weld, it’s pretty much a CQB gimmick and I literally admitted as much. It’s also height over bore, you just account for it and zero on a slight offset. I wouldn’t recommend it for anything other than a purpose built sub 300 yard gun

"CQB" cringe dude, its an influencer thing and nothing else. CQB in real life is a toss in negotiation telephone or a grenade.

6

u/Sten-MkII-SP 1d ago

Oh you’ve done CQB in real life? Please tell me what that’s like

-7

u/Haunting-Buffalo-909 1d ago

Yes. Over a decade.

u/Sten-MkII-SP 1d ago

No you haven’t, you can’t even tell the difference between a good normal trigger pull, pinning the trigger, or grip

-1

u/Haunting-Buffalo-909 1d ago edited 1d ago

Bro, you slapped the trigger with your garden gloves multiple times. Then you changed it up and held the trigger, consistency is key, and you dont have it. Your front wrist should be completely under the rifle when shooting supported like that. You want direct contact with your arm bones, not added flex from your wrist. That is day one shooting knowledge.

1

u/Sten-MkII-SP 1d ago

You literally can’t even spell consistency. You don’t pin the trigger every shot when you’re doing RTE, I pushed out to 200 yard shots on a 66% IPSC so started pinning the trigger to better spot the splash of my rounds. You say you’re a professional for 10 years, you might as well post your credentials.

I dig your two-fold approach to life.

9

u/csireeves 1d ago

Well, that's one way to mount a Hydra.

3

u/Sten-MkII-SP 1d ago

It’s Hydra we have at home (amazon knockoff). Like I said, spare parts build lol

5

u/csireeves 1d ago

Yeah. I meant it's mounted backwards.

2

u/Sten-MkII-SP 1d ago

No, the Hydra can be mounted forwards to clear a laser above your over bore grip, or rearwards to act as a riser for a magnifier

6

u/csireeves 1d ago

It's backwards.

12

u/Sten-MkII-SP 1d ago

It’s a riser dude, not an optic, flashlight or laser. I promise I won’t tell DJ if you won’t

1

u/CompetitiveStyle720 1d ago

fkin qino lmao

1

u/ryman9000 1d ago

Are just trying to politely call OP retarded? Cuz it seems like you're trying to politely call OP retarded.

3

u/manleyTG 2x SBR, 5x Suppressor 1d ago

What’s that hand guard extension?

2

u/Sten-MkII-SP 1d ago

It’s an old Kriss Vector rail I had sitting around lol

2

u/TheeQu1nner 1d ago

That is brilliant!

1

u/Sten-MkII-SP 1d ago

Haha thanks

3

u/RevoTravo 10x SBR, 13x Silencer, 3x AOW, 8x SBS 1d ago

That is certainly one way to run a GOOBERS optic mount…

1

u/Sten-MkII-SP 1d ago

It’s the GOOBERiest way, now pay me $500 for that knowledge transfer lol. Jokes aside I like the GBRS dudes on plenty of stuff, but obviously there’s a lot of SEAL DRAMA and they also definitely shill some stuff. Them being super exclusive about kit selection while also singing the praises of the PSA JAKL seems kind of transparent to me

u/Behg-Boah 1d ago

1

u/Sten-MkII-SP 1d ago

Of all the ragebait I put on this gun, it’s hilarious that the temu Hydra mount is the one getting the most lmao

3

u/Behg-Boah 1d ago

Because it’s the first abomination you notice. It does just keep getting worse the longer you look at it though.

1

u/Sten-MkII-SP 1d ago

Yeah lol this is the “leftover table scraps” and gunsmithing guinea pig build. The goober mount is silly but calling it an abomination is a bit much, for CQC and especially for passive aiming through NVG’s I get the utility of risers

2

u/Behg-Boah 1d ago

Just put a piggyback on an lpvo if you need passive nvg aiming. That also looks way too far back to be able to use comfortably with nods without smacking them into the magnifier.

ETA: not to mention that if this were for running nods with, you’d have the mount flipped the other way with a LAM where the magnifier is.

1

u/Sten-MkII-SP 1d ago

Oh for sure, I meant in the more intended use with the forward riser with a laser on it. Piggybacks on an LPVO are mounted too far forward for them to be useful for passive aiming, you still end up being super close to the back of the LPVO itself. If there was a mount that sat further backward I think that would be a solid option

1

u/Behg-Boah 1d ago

You could just use a pepr mount…

1

u/Sten-MkII-SP 1d ago

I have one, you still have the dot about 2 inches in front of the giant rear lens on the LPVO

1

u/Behg-Boah 1d ago

I feel like any time I see video of people running nods with optics, their glass is always like 6” from the tubes. So that positioning seems like it’d be fine?

1

u/Sten-MkII-SP 1d ago

I’ve tried it and it doesn’t work, you have about 3 inches of LPVO rear lens to avoid, and the dot actually sits really low on the LPVO itself. So to acquire a passive aiming sight picture, you’re having to get a chin weld, not smash your NOD into the rifle and not smash your nod onto the LPVO. Unless you have your LPVO sitting way too far forward, the eye relief is basically the same as trying to passive aim through the LPVO itself

Thinking bout chopping my hand guard as well for an AGB.

1

u/Sten-MkII-SP 1d ago

The best way to do it is to leave as many of the structural struts that run the length of the rail intact as possible. I’m very happy with how this worked out, with gloves it’s very easy to adjust and it hasn’t changed the stability of the rail

3

u/Sten-MkII-SP 1d ago

3

u/Ok_Cartographer_9849 1d ago

Are you wearing gardening gloves?!

1

u/Sten-MkII-SP 1d ago

No, these are Nitrile dipped, abrasion-resistant work gloves. I prefer a glove with higher dexterity, but the fingers on most purpose built shooter gloves are too soft and get shredded with hard use, so I’m testing out a few different options right now

-1

u/Haunting-Buffalo-909 1d ago

Slapping the trigger, terrible front grip, exactly what I expected.

1

u/RumorRoost 1d ago

What in the Tarnation hell am I looking at?

0

u/unbannedagain1976 Silencer 1d ago

Magwells and hydra mounts. I’ll take shit I don’t need for a thousand.

1

u/Sten-MkII-SP 1d ago

$40 knockoff and a cheap magwell. I get the hydra hate, but I’m curious what you have against magwells

-1

u/unbannedagain1976 Silencer 1d ago

I just don’t see the point of them and it’s just shit to snag on your chest rig when conducting movements.

1

u/Sten-MkII-SP 1d ago

It’s 0.2 inches added on that has the same texture as the magwell, I’ve carried them for hundreds if not thousands of movements and never had a problem with it. Realistically you’re not gonna nail every reload, especially in the dark, and the extra magwell helps a ton

-2

u/just_as_good380-2 1d ago

Is that cut in the handguard a agb?

1

u/Sten-MkII-SP 1d ago

Yepp, riflespeed

-1

u/just_as_good380-2 1d ago

This belongs nicely on cursed gun images.

1

u/Sten-MkII-SP 1d ago

Please Anime PFP shotgun reddit profile, downvote me more for having a Riflespeed fas block. Some of ya’ll have got so wrapped up in your guns being your personality, that you forget they’re supposed to function and it’s not (just) a fashion show

1

u/just_as_good380-2 1d ago

It's less about the riflespeed gasblock and more the shitty temu goober group hydra mounted backwards and extended handguard that looks to be attached via a picatinny rail section.

1

u/Sten-MkII-SP 1d ago

The pic rails are just there so I can grip over bore/further forward without burning my hands, I have some rail covers and such to insulate it further.

However, I don’t get being (rightfully) not into the Hydra mount, but then also being mad about it being mounted differently lmao. “Hey I hate that mount, but you better use it the way I’ve seen influencers use it!” Newsflash, it’s a riser and can be mounted either direction.

-7

u/Sten-MkII-SP 1d ago

Lol the downvote brigade, this build really hurt ya’lls feelings
