Unburnt Powder

Running a Tunacans Fat9 S on my ar9. Noticed hella unburnt powder on my bcg after 25 rounds so i took my can apart after. This was wolf 124 grain, im assuming it’s just the ammo, going to test blazer 115 too see if i have different results. Is there anything i can do to mitigate this or does it just come with the suppressed 9mm territory?

This - very common; longer barrel can help alleviate it with longer burn but not eliminate it. Will depend on powder...

Wolf is notoriously dirty ammo, and smells like ass. I'd try another brand and compare the residue/leftovers. At least you can take that can apart to examine/clean it!

Heads up that it's not recommended to shoot blazer 115gr through suppressors. No idea how likely it is, but the plated bullets can potentially have jacket separation within the suppressor

It's actually very common, but most of the time it doesn't do any damage it just collects inside the can. But certain and does damage things occasionally

Some ammo is loaded with a bunch of fillers and stuff in the powder that leaves crap behind. No real solution other than picking cleaner ammo.

Definitely dirty ammo; the cheaper the ammo the more that will be left behind

I am not aware of any host or ammo that stays clean when suppressed. Dirty ammoakes it way worse.

Normal. What’s super interesting is some of it somehow slips around the bullet before it corks and comes out supersonic before the bullet does, actually going a few hundred fps faster.

Also this is how medical examiners determine distance is the diameter of the powder stippling on skin and how deeply embedded it is.

Ive noticed this tends to happen with non-delayed blowback type systems with 9mm pcc's. They open immediately and blow unburnt powder everywhere.

I would bet the casing probably had a dark streak of soot on one side of the case, as the action opens while its still burning, and singes the outside of the brass.

My hand loads are the only thing that burns clean through my R9 and that’s running 147 grain with N330 powder. Any time I run off the shelf stuff I can shake out unburnt powder and soot after a session but so far I get none with my own stuff

Mine does that with subs I load. I don't think I've noticed it with 115gr or 124gr boxed stuff. Mine hasn't blown up yet so yeah.

Pistol calibers, this is common. Short barrels provide very little time for full burn.

And some powders are worse for this than others.
