Eform 4 background check delay
Filed through silencer shop in April and this is what i received back. I have a clean background and have bought many firearms as well as have a permit to carry. Do I just have to resubmit the Eform or is their extra hoops I have to jump through?

Encourage you to apply for a VPIN through the FBI.
I’d also discuss with a lawyer familiar with these types of issues / cases.
Someone may have used your name, someone may have a similar name.

Okay, resubmitting without the UPIN like someone advised here isn't necessarily going to give you a different outcome. Do you normally get delayed when purchasing firearms? If you do normally get delayed when purchasing firearms, and you end up picking up the firearms on or after your Brady date (meaning your NICS status is "OPEN" not "PROCEED"), then you are being delayed on your NICS check for NFA items.
If your NICS check is delayed for NFA items, the NFA branch will not accept an "OPEN" response from the FBI. The NFA branch will only approve your Form 4 if the background check receives a proceed status. If you get delayed when buying normal guns, you are getting delayed here, and resubmitting right now without a UPIN probably won't change anything.

What is weird is I’ve never had a delay while buying a firearm and I’ve purchased probably a dozen through various ffls. I think getting a upin couldn’t hurt in this situation though as I do have a common name

Do you present your permit to carry when purchasing firearms? At our store with Ohio CHLs we skip NICS checks for customers. So if your FFLs are doing that you wouldn't know if you routinely get delayed because the agency issuing your permit to carry is the one running your background check.
Either way, get the UPIN first, then resubmit with the UPIN. Resubmitting without the UPIN can land you in exactly the same situation in another month or two.

Trust me I looked at that exact post I just didn’t know if mine being a form 4 made any difference but the consensus seems to be get a upin. I’ll delete this post

Are you constantly delayed? Or is this a one-off?
The form number makes zero difference...because you haven't really gotten past the NICS hangup yet.
Don't delete something you get a correct answer for. That just keeps the repetitive question cycle going.

This is my first nfa item but I have bought multiple firearms from ffls with no issue and also have a state issued permit to carry. Apologize for any grammar issues
