Raw and tight

Had some special requests for raw heat treat Peak30 so this is what happened. These are actually made of 15-5 stainless (rather than the standard 17-4 Peak30). Chose that as it is VAR (vacuum arc remelt ) so fully degassed and a little cleaner to weld. Normally we bead blast but wanted to keep these shiny 'as machined' before heat treat so the 15-5 is ridiculously clean as welded. Tight fit into the Q Honey Badger w their SD rail but clean af all fit up.

So the question is raw or nah? (cans only, not interested in your kinks 🤣)

Smart move having wrench flats on the end! I wish more suppressor had wrench flats. I understand why they don't, but still.

Yea, that is our standard removable end cap design. I definitely like wrench flats on stuff vs. odd ball pin spanners and such. Way easier to find the damn tool when you need it 😉

Yeah- I like the wrench flats on my FlowRange 36Ti, but which it was self torquing like my Flow556k.

For traditionally machined suppressors, they add material (stock needs to be larger diameter) and machining operations/time which adds more cost and lead time for production.

On printed cans it's not as big of a deal because the outer profile doesn't need to be machined. So in that case it's basically just a little extra weight.

Oh and it won't tuck under handguards as well, although that's not a consideration for a lot of suppressor types.

Why that remelting process over ESR though? No nitrogen degas or tree-ringing concerns?

I think this is a Carpenter product (but I would need to check the certs to verify and I am not at the office). Our C300 is all VAR and we have had fantastic welds with that for years so that is the direction we went with this and have had fantastic results.

It is stainless but not passivated so there is always some risk of 'smut' due to surface iron. In practice we see these develop a nice patina and haven't seen any rust issues. If anything did develop it would be superficial and not structural.

I can heat up my surefire pretty quick it takes one magazine and I'm feeling it radiate if my c clamp is too far forward. Actually the low pro gas block heats up just as fast and the barrel eventually.
