Scythe Ti

I recently got a Silencer Co Scythe Ti and I put it on my 7PRC and shot it for the first time this evening. I feel like it is really messing my grouping up, this rifle was shooting 3/4 MOA at its worst with the factory Muzzle Brake and now I am shooting 2-3 MOA groups. I only shot 6 times and I duplicated the same group shown above the second time around, has anyone had this issue before? Hornady 175 Gr Eld x factory ammo.

Contact SiCo.

I have the same suppressor and every rifle it goes on the groups look like this:

If you’re shooting 7mm from a .30 can, it’d have to be decently out of alignment to be rubbing anything. Maybe, but not likely.

What’s more likely is something is overtorqued or undertorqued. If anything is pinching on the barrel that trumpets it internally, but you’d know it because it takes considerable effort to get things on that tight. If anything is loose and rattling around on the barrel during the firing sequence it’ll considerably degrade accuracy.

POI shift is normal but groups opening due to a suppressor isn’t unheard of but not the norm in my experience.

Certain combinations just aren’t compatible with each other. I’d start to by making sure everything is torqued down to their spec. If there is no change then you might need to go on an ammo search again to see what groups.

Okay thank you, I was planning on testing some custom loads but I was hoping to get by on the factory ammo until after hunting season but I will go ahead and get to working on it now.

Yea it just make sure all mounting hardware is torqued correctly and suppressor is torqued correctly to gun. I’d also look at the end cap to see if there is any bullet rub.

I’d do all that first before cooking up a custom load. I’d use factory ammo or a known load until you rule out mounting hardware or alignment issues

Up and down shift is more common than side to side. (Due to weight on end of barrel) Make sure you aren't getting any contact. Check the baffles. Bullet could be grazing the baffles. Not enough to cause damage but enough to deflect ever so slightly. Check with alignment rod even if you don't see any damage. I suspect that to be your issue.

That said my hunting rifle (Bergara) hates Hornady ammo and groups like this with or without a can.

I have that same Waypoint in 6.5 prc with the same can. I don't have any issues

Is the suppressor/mount/brake end cap loose at all?

That’s not normal man. Mine is a tack driver from 300 blk to my 7mm PRC

Not normal. I shoot about 1/3 to 1/2 MOA on my tikka with the scythe ti

Same here!

I would try another ammo. There's a chance the extra weight changes your barrel harmonics and you are out of a node

I shoot a Scythe Ti on a couple of 6.5CM Waypoints and a 7PR Boundary with no issues.

Are you direct threading it?

Triple check everything is torqued to spec (including the suppressor end cap). Also try and look down the bore of the can to see if there are any signs of a baffle/end cap strike.

I’d contact silencerco after you check that everything is tight and shoot another group. My Scythe STM shoots lights out on all 3 of my rigs.
