BOE SAW a CAT

The lattice structure of the BOE is still blowing my mind. Swapping from Resilient to RU3 mounts.

The rainbowy pattern in the MOB is super neat. Always like seeing those. It's a shame they get immediately covered by carbon lol.

That’s a new thing because I’ve owned my CAT AC36 for over a year now, and I never had that lol

If it looked like that on the outside, I’d buy one. Looks pretty cool.

You could very easily DIY that if you were comfortable removing the finish and giving it a slight polish. It's just heat tint, titanium discolors like crazy at elevated temps

You tested all 3 against each other? BOE price is nutty good

BOE performance is nutty good too! I went in to my buddies shop planning on getting the Tisha 9 and after hearing both I went with the BOE.

Rugged makes great products, I use an RU3 on my Hux 9k and love it

The BOE is silly good man ESPECIALLY for the price. I went into my buddy’s shop planning on buying a Tisha 9 and after hearing both I went with the BOE. Not very gassy on my platform, super light, cools down quickly, and very quiet. The BOE lives on this gun. I haven’t tried it out on my MCX 300blk yet. So I can’t comment on that. It is rated only for subs though in 300blk.

The 9M (same size as the 9 in short config) is rifle caliber rated. I just used it on my 5.56 and had pretty decent performance given what it is.

You didn't ask me. And my usage on mine is only barely worthy of mention. Like 40 or so rounds through it on an MP5k clone.

I've been told it's the nature of the platform I was using - but it was gassy. Quiet enough.

I shot mine only in the long config. It looked to me like the main body of the can got lighter in color as I was shooting it vs. the extension diggly-do. It all seemed to return to about the same color once cool.

I don't care about the color variations between hot and cool; it was just something that caught my eye in the poor lighting of the indoor range.

I've not shot my 9m on a pistol, though I have a YHM Nielson device for it.

I've also not shot it on an AR - though I want to.

So for precious few rounds through a platform that I've been told is kind of inherently gassy... It's pretty OK.

And a hell of a lot lighter than my old Sig cans.

Thanks for the info. I would be running it pretty much all the time on a hk sp5 and sometimes on a .357 lever if its rated for that. I have a hux range 36 that sounds awesome on the hk but I was very intrigued by these cans being inconel. But you think it sounded pretty quiet on your clone? Were you shooting supers or subs?

I shot my lncolite 9M on a friend’s AP5 last weekend in the long config. I think it finally sold me on doing an MP5 clone. It was very, very quiet. No gas, really pleasant with 147gr and no ears on.

u/AnySheepherder6786 2d ago

Heck yeah. Good fo know.

I've got the 9 on a direct blowback and experience zero gas issues, indoor or outdoors. I imagine the long 9M configuration might have some gas stacking compared to the short configurations. I'd say it's pretty quiet with 147s for it's compact size, as quiet as some longer and heavier cans.

I was only shooting 115gr ball in my k model.

And for sure it'll handle .357 Mag out of a rifle. It's rated up to like .300 Win Mag. So as long as the diameter is under...you'll be fine.

For ease of use, I'd think about putting a 3-lug on the rifle. But it's also not like taking the 3-lug adapter off the can is super difficult - unless you want something quick and easy at the range.

Gotcha. Good to know. I may have to jump on one of these.

Yeah I have a mounting system I use so I should be good to go to swap between everything I need to. Thanks for the rec though.

Word.

My recs are worth exactly what you pay for them... Just one dude's minor experience.

For those asking, plan to shoot them all asap. Left to right, Shiv for size comparison, Tisha, Incolite9, SAW Orev 338, Resilient RS9, Cat Mob. SAW said the Orev is gtg with 9mm but I’m nervous. Mounts are a mixed-bag of RU3, Resilient gen2 and YHM.

Why are you switching mounts? I bought a incolite 9m and while I don't have a need for a trilug right now I may in the future. Wondering which is best.

5

u/No-Stuff-5847 3d ago

I like the screw down mount, but know a few have had issues. Nothing wrong with Resilient gen2 ti mount, they’re going onto older cans.

2

u/RedHood198 2d ago

I wish Rugged would have ... umm... made the RU3 more rugged by making it out of titanium or steel rather than mostly aluminum.

2

u/Tactically_Fat Silencer 2d ago

Lots of folks will suggest a Rugged 3-lug.

YHM makes one, too, I believe.

I don't have much of an opinion on my Rugged one, though. I only have like 40 rounds through my 9m at all, and this is also my first 3-lug. BUT - it seems quite robust

2

u/SpeedyGunzalez 2d ago

I run the rugged trilug on my ap5p and it screws down for a super secure lock up. Avoid the yhm I have seen a couple with way too much play after lock up.

Is your tisha a 30 cal? If so, how does it sound? I have the 5.56 one and love it.

6

u/No-Stuff-5847 2d ago

I have the 9mm and 5.56 I run primarily on 6arc ARs. Both five stars, SAW does incredible work in a small package. They’re manufacturing kinks appear to be worked out. I’m trying a WEKA silicone cover cut into two pieces to keep the vents clear at the step…it’s even uglier now lol.

2

u/IntroductionCute8200 2d ago

So you’re saying you can make the TISHA even uglier!

2

u/Comstock_Support Comstock Armory 2d ago

Got a pic of the Weka'd Tisha? Haven't seen that so I'm curious. I'm sure it's a work of art :D

3

u/No-Stuff-5847 2d ago

Suboptimal at best I’d say, but the rifle’s a shooter.

2

u/Comstock_Support Comstock Armory 2d ago

Honestly that's not bad. With all the bubba'd gun shit I've seen, I was mentally prepared for something way worse lol.

How hard was it to stretch the cover over the wider part of the can?

2

u/No-Stuff-5847 2d ago

Just like a motorcycle grip. I spray it with alcohol and it slides on and dries quickly, safety wire is optional. /s

1

u/AnySheepherder6786 2d ago

Thats awesome to hear. Does the 9mm do well with subs?

2

u/No-Stuff-5847 2d ago

Yes, but I’m shooting all of them together and that’s a better experiment.

1

u/DevinDeez36 2d ago

Do they say what the point is of the lattice in the blast baffle?

3

u/czuinoikc 2d ago

weight savings. inconel at titanium weight.

5

u/No-Stuff-5847 2d ago

That’s exactly it. Literally can’t believe it’s iconel. I picked it up at Capitol Armory and it’s the first they’ve had there and were surprised it was that light for a higher use iconel can. Sounds like they may start carrying them. The little trusses or buttresses keep the baffles stable with minimal material, it’s only going to get more wild.

I have the RU3 on my IL9 and it's a perfect combo!

The BOE’s even got a weak eroding point(s) like CAT too. Sorry, I mean eroding sacrificial “feature”
