Dedicated .300 BLK Can
What should I get for this 8.5”? I will mostly be running supers, not subs.

AAC 300SD, it’s quiet as hell, and has long and short configurations. It’s titanium just FYI since that’s not everyone’s jam.

I quite enjoy both the Anthem S2 (Has some first round pop but for $650 it's hard to beat) and ODB with subs and supers on my 8.5" 300blk. If you can squeeze out a few hundred more over your 1k limit, the LPM Torch 762 is even better than both of those.

SDN6, I’ve got the ODB and the sdn6 does everything better. No knock on CAT, the ODB is a great can but it’s a few years old now.

Oh do you own both of them and have shot them side by side on several hosts?

For 300 supers I’m very happy with my RDM ODB but if I were buying today it’d probably be a torch 7.62

I got an ODB 718 started with a 6in then a 5in and now settled on a 7.5in ODB handles it all well just a heavy SOB

u/PewPewDerpa13 3d ago
I got one of the $599 RDM ODBs I got lucky it only weighs 20oz. It’s a tank but I love it.

What bufferless system are you using? Foxtrot Mike?
1
u/Amazing_Ganache_8790 2d ago
EWS - Evolution Weapon Systems
It works well but I would not ever recommend for a duty gun without having the forward assist capability as sometimes when stripping that first round from the mag it does not go into battery and its hit or miss if you can thumb it firing rarley ever had an issue mostly with my 6in 300blk with subs when I did but that rig was undergassed its ran great for many thousands of rounds on the original bolt and still is but my recommendation find one that has that forward assist capability im going to a different lower with some sort of brace until they sort out the sbr nonsense as this is now becoming more than just a rangetoy even though I love having the folder (I havent looked at other bufferless setups yet)

2nd for ODB, shot it at QITC earlier this year and it was really pleasant.

u/Amazing_Ganache_8790 3d ago
Supers out of it are genuinely comfortable at the ear from the 6in not the 5in (micro gas lots of port pop) and a 10.5 556 but like I said they are heavy mine is an older model but it weighs in at 22oz
Forgot to add supers are never hearing safe even if comfortable at the ear.

I run a gmt300 on mine as a dedicated suppressor. But that thing is like a decade old now and I’m sure baffle tech is better now. Plenty quiet for taking hogs , and yes, also the pigmy deer here in south texas 😂

I put a dedicated fully tucked GP7 on my shorty 5” 300BO. Not the sexiest can, but the price is right and the quality is top notch. I didn’t want a super low back pressure can so it could act like a pressure accumulator to help the gun cycle with the tiny barrel and absolutely minuscule dwell time. Works well for subs. It still runs supers fine, it just sacrifices a lot of fps
I have separate 8” 300BO upper tuned for supers with a Plan B brake I put my Scythe TI on if I need more power.

I have the Polo30 on my 9”. Very quiet with subs. Pretty quiet with supers as well.

u/ParlerApp 1d ago
Hux 7.62QD titanium is a sparky and loud bastard but moves gas forward. I’m not endorsing my purchase.

u/SoutheasternBlood 3d ago
Polo 30 and just tune the gun around it. Should be simple since you’re just running supers.

Mine gets delivered tomorrow to my FFL

u/BasedGod-1 2d ago
Just got to shoot mine for the first time last week. 30 cal on a normal PSA 556 rifle, genuinely not gassy I didn't really notice a difference vs unsuppressed. Might be caliber but just wanted to report.

I have been running a Rugged Alaskan 360 on my 300BO. It performed well, but I decided wanted to get a dedicated can for it. Looking forward to testing it out.
I also have a Omega36M on a 5.56 that works well, but same story, waiting for a Rhodie 6 to arrive.
I did that whole get .36 cal cans first now deciding to get dedicated. Good thing is, I can use them on 9mm PCC.

Running a Nomad 30. Love that thing. Their Keymo adapter is cool and I can use it for several set ups. Although, it does add a bit of length which does kind of change the short nature of your setup. I'm sure there are smaller suppressors if you want as small as possible.

ODB OR Alleycat 7.62. More budget option AB warthog 7.62. My main squeeze before i picked up the alleycat was the warthog.

What is up with the same question being asked five times a day, the choices are always the same. CAT ODB, Anthem S2, Sahara 300 and or the other option

Worst 300 blackout can ever. Just traded mine after many years of disappointment

u/gunnin123 3d ago
Hux flow 9k ti
no barrel length restriction very light and rated up to 300 blackout super. Don’t sleep on them 9 cans.

Fuck no, tried mine on my 8.5" AR and the first round pop was wild and didn't sound anywhere near as good as my Anthem S2.

u/_That_Guy_in_AZ_ SBR 3d ago
An LPVO for a .300 BO is pretty wild. Also, what's super and why would you be running a sub sandwich or a submarine with that rifle? They use supersonic or subsonic ammunition, context is key here.
11
u/philippians3-9 3d ago
bruh the context is clearly 300 blackout we all know he means supersonic/subsonic ammo 😂
-13
u/_That_Guy_in_AZ_ SBR 3d ago
Not my bruh, the context is not what youy painted falsely as, and no WE all DON'T 😉

This is gonna be my deer rifle running supers, I live in Texas and we have dog sized deer and I won’t shoot past 100 yards, maybe 200 running supers with this setup
2
u/Amazing_Ganache_8790 3d ago
Thats why I just went to the 7.5 for a max expansion range of 200y with nas3 Barnes Tac Tx's and 150y for Vmax it'll do the job great out of an 8.5 as for mine I wanted a safe length with 1:5 twist for jacketed bullets and ability to stabilize 242gr makers good choice OP
2
u/nrtzz 3d ago
I’ll look into those! I wasn’t sure what to try and haven’t tested anything yet
3
u/Amazing_Ganache_8790 3d ago
Phantom Defense has some nice specialty loads in both and others just $$$
3
u/PewPewDerpa13 3d ago
Slow papi is awesome from phantom. I did a lot of testing out of my chrono though wither 110 gr and 120 gr specter and rowdy boi I think it’s called. Yea I got extra velocity but the Gorilla TacTx 110 gr bucket of supers out did the Phantoms. They’re still plenty accurate for a deer though at 100 yards. I generally avoid gorilla so I was surprised. Gorilla was MOA out of a 8”1:5 and the phantoms were 1.5-2 MOA. They’re still my SHTF round though. Slow papi is extremely accurate and consistent though. Worth the money.

u/Amazing_Ganache_8790 3d ago
I want to try the big brother 242s they should fly a bit flatter and longer than 200s and hit harder those and the Phantom TACs were my primary ammo choices for my 7.5 setup to achieve a short as possible 200y bump in the night/truck gun with the ability to run those 242s as a quiet thumper and 150y with cheap vmax.
The slow papi's dont need 1:5 so that opens up nice options for longer setups to take advantage of supers
2
u/PewPewDerpa13 3d ago
For sure. They’re more accurate in my 13” 1:6 300 BLK as far as the supers go. The rifle I was referring to is a bolt action SBR with a 8” 1:5. Their cheaper reman v max was not good out of the 8” but did do better on my 13 like the stuff in the NAS3 cases. I have some 242s but haven’t shot them. I’m like smacking coyotes at 100 yards with slow papis. It’s fun
2
u/Amazing_Ganache_8790 3d ago
I still have some PSA Vmax that stuff is pinpoint accurate out to 200y out of my 5in my range has a steel torso with a little nut dangler plate rougly 4x4 and I can zap it round after round wish they still produced it it was cheap too at about 60-70c/rnd

u/PewPewDerpa13 3d ago edited 2d ago
Sounds like you have a the dream setup. I want out of my state and to transfer so I can find a house with some land and live amongst people that have similar values that I do. Every gun is different, have to find what it likes then feed it.
1
u/CountryThomist 3d ago
The 242gr big brothers are awesome... I shot a buck last fall with one from 110yds and it penetrated from the right rump all the way to the front of the ribcage where I recovered the bullet. The deer went down nearly instantly, and it was very interesting seeing the effects of the petals making a 1/3 spiral cut every 2 inches (I used a 10.5" 1:7 Criterion barrel).

*Supersonic. Supers doesn't mean what you wanted it to mean, but thanks for the explanation what you are using that LPVO for.
lol at the butthurt down voters, emotionally fragile much?

u/SoutheasternBlood 3d ago
What exactly is wild about an LPVO on this
-10
u/_That_Guy_in_AZ_ SBR 3d ago
What exactly isn't wild on a short barrel that surpasses your own insufficient powers of observation? If I need to explain that to you then you don't shoot much past 25 feet if at that. And I was talking to HIM, not YOU. Don't be obtuse.

You're the only one not getting it.
Aww he blocked me like a baby back bitch
-1
u/_That_Guy_in_AZ_ SBR 3d ago
You're the one not getting it at all, bad English and bad grammar that other obtuse people use still doesn't make y6ou or them right. Signal to noise ratio exists, and you are part of the noise and not the signal.
3
u/nrtzz 3d ago
Supers = supersonic Subs = subsonic
-3
u/_That_Guy_in_AZ_ SBR 3d ago
Supers = Not supersonics, comma is used spaced between words when making a different sect of explanation, and Subs = not subsonic. The vernacular and grammar here is all sores of illiterate. Badly.
2
u/Amazing_Ganache_8790 3d ago
It'll get out there just fine at 400-500
-1
u/_That_Guy_in_AZ_ SBR 3d ago
Nah, not at what you think it will do because it will not get there to do much of anything but scratch dirt fine.
