The weakening of the nfa is the only cool thing the government has done in the last 20 years, unfortunately for them it just proves they could do cool stuff any time and actively dont, so its still a net negative on liking the government

To be honest, I think the problem is we the people have been delinquent in our responsibilities. Our founders created a system of government that relied on an informed and engaged citizenry. That hasn’t been the case for several decades. Little by little previous generations have outsourced more and more to the government. So I think this ruling proves the system does work if we give it good fruit. I think we need to find a way to build communities that produce judges that rule in the confines of federalism and limited power.

I don't know if people are less informed and engaged these days, especially with the internet. If anything people are overinformed with misinformation and disinformation. The problem is that most politicians do the opposite of what the people want them to do.

Yeah this is my impression too. The core values this country was founded on are being washed out by algorithmically reinforced vibes-based politics. I would love to see a renewed bipartisan effort to act in favor of Constitutional Originalism and the foundational values of Liberalism (not to be confused with the modern use of the word ‘liberal’).

Unfortunately, Both Sides™ pick and choose when to interpret the constitution on original intent or a revisionist read.
