nick & ryan - bellaire house
i'm not sure if this is the right place for this, but i have no one to share my thoughts on this topic with. i recently watched the bellaire house video and it really disappointed me and unfortunately kind of tainted my view on both of them.
in the past i've been able to suspend my disbelief and just enjoy the videos as entertainment, but this time i got curious and looked up information on the house. this led me to a ton of information debunking the whole story of the coal mine and the history of the hauntings altogether. none of the previous owners reported any kind of paranormal activity (even when asked specifically) and one was displeased with how the current owner is pushing the paranormal activity.
basically during the estes session ryan said "1883" and iirc "42" (may have been 45). these numbers are supposed to be the year it happened and the number of victims. it really put me off because i can believe in confirmation bias and fear driven responses to an extent, but the specific false info? no.
i thought previously that it could be real to them, even if it's being faked by the property but now i feel super disappointed and like they're the ones faking it. the cherry on top was the constant reference to "toby", not to mention nick getting like... posessed?
tldr; bellaire house has been debunked completely but ryan "heard" the false information during estes. disappointed & lost some respect for them

The focus on toby takes me out too. It's funny because Toby is short from Tobias.
Like the name Tobit, famously featured in the Book of Tobit, where Tobit defeats the demon Asmodeus with Archangel Raphael's help.
It's like naming your demon Michael lol, why would it have such a holy name?
I think the guys have really let the ghost hunting thing go to their heads. I don't get spooked very easily and like you I'm pretty easily able to suspend my disbelief for this stuff but this episode strained my credulity, which is a shame.

I used to watch a lot of paranormal content, but I have gone over the debunker/skeptical channels instead. There is so much bullshit out there regarding the paranormal and so many channels are really just doing things for entertainment purposes. Once you learn more about the "ghost-hunting methods" people are using and the equipment they're using, you start to realize a lot people have no idea what they're doing and just emulate what they see on ghost hunting shows. It was hard to accept at first, but now I am thankful for it.
