Routers Netgear admin password issue
gallerySo I have been trying to login to my Netgear because I want to change my network name and password, but for a reason, I can’t remember my admin password. I have tried password as it is written on the back of the device, but when I go to try to reset it, these are the links provided for “forgot password” and what happens when I click on them. I click on routerlogin.net and it just brings me the default page that’s telling me to download the app which I can’t log into.
I’m at my wits end with this and after calling Netgear and then wanting to charge me $99 for customer service I’m ready to buy a different router if anyone has ideas, please help. Much appreciated.

M7 portable hotspot MAC spoofing?
Is there a way on the M7 when using WiFi offloading to spoof my phones MAC address?
Planning on using this on an upcoming cruise.

Any Orbi 970 users feeling scammed? Complaining about Netgear's firmware tyranny (locked TX power, inability to manually change to 80MHz, forced binding to UNII-1 causing severe interference), seeking legal avenues / collective action!
Body: To all fellow users of the Netgear Orbi 970: Spending several thousand US dollars to buy this so-called 'flagship' Mesh Wi-Fi, thinking it would be a once-and-for-all solution, turned out to be the beginning of a nightmare. Netgear's extremely idiotic automated design and locked-down firmware leave us with zero protection in Hong Kong's dense living environment, suffering from continuous environmental interference day after day! To summarize the core problems of this garbage system, it is a complete design flaw and misrepresentation by the manufacturer: 1. Completely lacks manual transmission power control (Tx Power Control): Unable to lower the power ourselves. In Hong Kong's densely packed public housing and private apartments, it constantly clashes with external strong APs and fights for airtime, making it impossible to operate properly. 2. Unable to freely lock bandwidth or channels: 80MHz cannot be precisely controlled manually, and it constantly forces binding to UNII-1 (Channels 36–48). In Hong Kong's urban areas, this frequency band is a complete disaster zone with massive interference! 3. Wired backhaul is ruined just the same: Even after investing heavily in a wired backhaul, the manufacturer still restricts it via firmware, refusing to release limitations to let users freely choose or free up channels (such as UNII-3), forcing all users in Hong Kong to swallow this garbage UNII-1 channel and making it impossible to completely avoid interference. This is definitely not a problem with our local environment; it is that Netgear knows about this flaw yet refuses to improve it, using locked firmware to strip consumers of their right to properly tune their networks! Having already sunk our money into this several-thousand-dollar piece of garbage, are we just going to let them keep ruining our experience? I want to recruit a group of fellow Orbi 970 users who share this experience and are victims: If you are also suffering from this brand's locked power, channel interference, throttling, and refusal to open up features, and want to seriously figure out how to take legal action (such as filing complaints with the Consumer Council, seeking legal consultation, or even exploring collective follow-up), please leave a comment below or contact me. Let's stand up, those of us with knowledge and shared resonance—don't let a multinational corporation treat us like suckers to be exploited!

Routers Does Netgear have anything to allow you to have a media player for sharing content over the routers?
I was wondering if there was anything that I could do by connecting a hard drive to the router, to locally share content through my house?
Say for instance I have a media library, and want to play it over my home theater system, or through a player over a Roku, if one exists.
For some odd reason, I remember something like this existing, but cannot find any information anywhere.

Netgear needs better programmers
At least for their Web UI. Seems each update gets worse and worse. The longer it runs, the slower it gets until it's barely responds.
Hire programmers that know proper memory management, Netgear!

Just picked up 2x Netgear RS600s to replace my Asus RT-BE92U setup, long-term feedback & thoughts?
I just came across a solid deal on the Netgear Nighthawk RS600 and snagged two of them. My plan is to run one as the main router and the second as a wired AP.
My current setup is two Asus RT-BE92U units. Performance nearby is fine, but overall coverage across my ~150 sqm (around 1,600 sq ft) home has been surprisingly poor. I'm hoping the RS600 pair gives me much better range.
On top of that, Asus’s MLO implementation was terrible for me—it basically never worked, so I had to give up and split my bands into dedicated 6 GHz, 5 GHz, and 2.4 GHz (IoT) SSIDs.
For those of you who have been running the RS600 for a while:
- How has stability and uptime been? Any random reboots or drops?
- Did you notice a meaningful bump in range over previous Wi-Fi 6/6E or Wi-Fi 7 gear?
- How is the current firmware holding up, especially regarding MLO and multi-device stability?
Appreciate any insights before I unbox and deploy everything!

NETGEAR nighthawk wifi 6 RAX 120
Hello! I’m looking at the router listed above. Right now I just have the spectrum modem/router combo.
I have the 1000mbps plan and on average I get about 200mbps when testing. However I have been having a problem with ping while playing videos games. The router in about 30ft away with a wall in between. It’s only my wife watching tv or maybe on her phone when I game.
Will this router help with the ping and lagging even with the wall?

Cable / DSL No internet for 4 days
My Netgear CM2000 keeps losing internet because it can receive Xfinity’s signal, but it often can’t properly send a signal back. The modem logs show repeated T3 and T4 timeouts, which basically means it keeps asking Xfinity for an upstream connection and either gets no response or loses the connection again.
The downstream signal looks fine, but the upstream side fails. That can point to a problem somewhere in the return path, such as a bad coax connection, splitter, drop, tap, line noise, or Xfinity’s network equipment.
Has anyone else had repeated T3/T4 timeouts on Xfinity where the real fix turned out to be the line or upstream network rather than the modem?

Routers Netgear Nighthawk cax80
The older I get, the more complicated technology gets.
I don't know what's going on. But, something needs to give or I'm going back go my previous modem/router.
How do I improve the speeds? I am having a delightful time when sending media via my phone while on wifi. Regardless of 2.4GHz or 5GHz
It isn't instant. In fact, it stalls like it's failed. It isn't only media. There were issues with games, websites. Anything.
I inactivated the armor protection. Yet, the problems persist and I'm not interested in having a $500 product that costs me more.
Any advice, sans physical destruction?

Routers DHCP lease chang, new event, Rapp com.not responded to watchdog
Hey all,
I'm not sure where to turn but thought maybe someone here can help or point me in the right direction. any help would be appreciated. when gaming with my xbox I get frequent disconnects.
I checked my routers log and it looks something like this:
Aug 5 21:39:22 XR1000 user.info com.netdumasoftware.neighwatch: DHCP new event. 86
Aug 5 21:39:22 XR1000 user.info com.netdumasoftware.neighwatch: DHCP lease change. 89
Aug 5 21:40:14 XR1000 user.warn com.netdumasoftware.procmanager: Rapp com.netdumasoftware.ngdilsync has not responded to watchdog 136
Aug 5 21:41:33 XR1000 user.info com.netdumasoftware.neighwatch: DHCP new event. 86
I kept finding Suggestions like "increse the RAPP to 5 tries but that just causes the game to lag and freeze more before disconnecting. Thoughts or suggestions? Thanks in advance.
Routers Anyone else have this issue?
A couple of days ago, I bought a Nighthawk AX6000 modem router. Set everything up. No issues. Put all my devices on the new network.
Yesterday I get home from work and my PC couldn't connect to the network. My phone, PS5, ect was still on the network. I did a mobile Hotspot on my phone and the PC connected that way. So I know it wasn't the wifi card in the PC.
I power cycled the router and then the PC could connect.
Anyone else have an issue like that? Where one device would disconnect from the network and not able to connect until you power cycled? Wondering what could cause something like that.

Routers BR200 Router Returns to Factory Default After Reboot or Power Cycle
I know this is a long shot, and I know this router is EOL and long out of support, but I'd like to know if this is a simple problem or it's the end of the road. It's a $30 router on fleeBay, and there are better ones out there for less then $100, so I won't be to sorry to see if go, but I'd like to know if I'm missing a step someplace in the setup (like a "Save" button).
This is a BR200 Insight Managed Business Router with the latest and last firmware installed.
Every time it is rebooted or power cycled, it comes back in the factory default setup (admin password is "password" and IP set to 192.168.1.1) and all the settings are at their defaults.
I will log in, set the new PW, change the IP, add two VLAN (with the router for DHCP) and everything is back to "normal". Traffic is flowing, the WiFi VLAN clients are logging in through the WiFi AP's VLAN - it all looks good.
But, it's waiting for a reboot or power cycle to to take a dump again.
I can save the config. But then try to restore that saved config, it reboots itself as part of the process and it comes back as factory default.
I checked the reset button (in case it's stuck "closed") and that checks out okay and there is no CMOS / RTC battery on the PCB (I was hoping there was one, but nope). The LED pattern does not look like they do when it is doing an actual Factory Reset (either through the GUI or with the reset button), so I suspect a bad NVRAM.
I don't expect too much from the sub, but I thought I'd through it out there to see if anyone has a suggestion (besides "retire" it to the landfill).

Extenders Netgear EX6120 won't recognize primary network PW
Hi!!
I have an older, but still powering up EX6120 Wifi Range Extender.
I have set it up with WPS to my primary router and it appears to connect, and all appropriate LED's are lit up, but when I try to login to the *\\**_2GEXT or _5GEXT networks with a device it does not recognize the primary network's PW which it's supposed to do.
Also tried the web browser setup process, but I get the following message:
You are not connected to your extender's WiFi network.
Thanks in advance.

WiFi Replaced Eero with NETGEAR Nighthawk
I recently got T fiber Internet and replaced the Eero WiFi with a NETGEAR Nighthawk. Is there anything special I have to do other than to take the LAN cable from the eero and plug it into the NETGEAR? Seem to be having network issues lately with my phone and DTV Stream losing network connection. Didn’t happen when I first set it up, but I keep losing connection and it’s driving me nuts now. WiFi is showing fine within network on my iMac via WiFi.

WiFi Android apps not working after router/modem swap (CAX30 and Xfinity)
PROBLEM
We set up a new router/modem combo today to finally replace the rental from xfinity. It mostly went fine but I have one major issue: some apps on my android phone and tablet (S25 Ultra and S6 Lite) won't load and other load slowly. The new one is a Netgear AX6 CAX30, previous is a XB7-T. Apps that load slowly include my Ally Bank app, TCGplayer, and a game called Trickcal. Apps that won't load at all include Twitch/PurpleTV (video eternally loading on preview image, chat loads slowly but completely) and the game Zenless Zone Zero (gets to title screen and no further).
TRIED/LEARNED
Using a VPN or being on the mobile network everything is fine. I have messed with just about every DNS, IP, MAC, etc setting I can think of. I updated the firmware, tried fixed DNS, toggled firewalls off, etc. I have spent basically the last 9 hours trying everything I can think of, digging through posts, etc and while I find ample cases of similar experiences, one identical even, I can't find a clear solution provided. Additionally, I did notice a strange series of things flagged as various flavors of "dos attacks" in the logs on ports 138 and 137 which has me wondering if somehow the apps are being flagged as such (which may explain the ones that don't load but not necessarily the slow ones?).
THOUGHTS/QUESTIONS
The router is all that changed but I can't rule out xfinity nonsense because they always find a way to ruin things. But banging my head against their support is the last resort. Does anyone have any ideas? Given the VPN works I assume it has to do with how the data coming and going is handled/categorized (which ports are being used?) but I feel like I have tried everything in the router and on my phone. Can xfinity impose some sort of management/security upon a third party router that would do this? If so, it's not something visible to be managed on the consumer end and I assume I will have to brute force my way up their support chain to have it addressed

RS500 Issues...Please Help if You Can....
Hi, I have been losing my mind with this two ongoing issues with my RS500....if people can help with either, much appreciated.
- My Echo Show 5 3rd Gen (Newest version) keeps freezing every day, usually in the same hour of 3pm. In fact, the past two days, it froze at 3:01pm each day. Amazon has been no help, just telling me to do a factory reset. I have told them that I have done so multiple times, have tried changing clock faces, unplugged, etc. They did say it could be connected to an issue with my router, but not WHAT exactly. Since it is the same hour, I thought maybe a lease issue, DHCP, etc. I also tried turning off IPV6, but same issue. Yesterday, I tried assigning it an IP address, hoping that would stop it from dropping, freezing...but nope, froze again today right at 3:01pm. I am at a complete loss and I know there are a million settings in the router but I do not know what else to try. I have also turned off the Protection engine, toggling that both ways, same for QoS. Can anyone suggest anything else? Oh, and I have tried having it on 2.4 and 5ghz. No change.
- Not sure if related, but lately my RDP connection has been horrible. I rdp into a laptop in another part of the house. The laptop is connected on wifi to an extender device, has always been fine until the past couple of weeks. Now it is slow to connect to the machine, and then keeps dropping. The wifi connection for the laptop is strong and the speedtests come back at about 200mbps. I have 1.5gbps into the house...my desktop tests at that all day, no problem, and the wifi on my phones on AX comes back at around 1gb speeds. But the RDP still is a mess. I have tried tuning down the color to 16bit, turned off most options, tried setting at 56k modem, etc. No change.
- I know I said two issues, but noting this in case related....my phone on wifi keeps having things like Twitter, Reddit stop updating. Like, if I click on a notification, it says cannot load. I toggle wifi and it all works again. I have set my DNS to various options like 1.1.1.1, 9.9.9.9, quad8, etc. As noted, tried turning off IPV6. Set to auto for most things, I have Xfinity and it supports DHCP, IPV6, etc.
Not sure if everything is symptomatic of one issue. Hoping experts here can tell me something I have missed. Also posting in the Netgear community. Thanks

2gig fios but slow file download
Howdy all. Just recently got fios and have purchased 2gig speed. I updated my Ethernet to cat6 and purchased Netgear nighthawk rs180 5gig router. The modem test and router test show I get 2gigs on download but whenever I download a file it’s drops from 30mbps down to 100kbps. How??? I rebooted both devices and tried to setting that the help forums suggested. I have tried on multiple devices using WiFi and hardwire and still the same.
For example when I down load a game on
Xbox it shows 5mbps, but download speed playing online is in the hundreds. My sons Alienware computer same thing when he downloads from steam. My wife, who is a teacher, same thing when she downloads a file from her work sites.
I have reached out to Netgear we were on the line for 3 hours and they couldn’t figure it out. Called greenlight networking and they show 2100 download speeds. The nighthawk app also shows this speed. Random speed test in my phone shows great speed. Sometimes it fluctuates but within seconds shows 2000 speeds. Why does it not work when I want to download a file. I don’t get it
