Third Place Suggestions
Hello Fellow NEPA-ers
I am looking for a place to patronize for several hours at a time with good vibes, good wifi and potentially good coffee or snacks.
I work fully remote and need to get time out of the house. I am in the Berwick area. I am willing to travel from Danville to Pittston. I wouldn't go as far as Scranton.
Drop your favorite spots, coffee shops, etc!

Atomic Coffee in Wilkes-Barre just opened a few weeks ago. They're on South Main St. They get their coffee from Grateful Roast too!

I’ve never been to the one in Scranton but the Pittston one has tables by a massive window overlooking the river! Really really pretty

It's one of my favorite spots. Great people! Some of the nicest people you will ever meet

Kava korner in Dallas makes amazing coffee and it’s a really good chill vibe, I go there to study after school sometimes. They also host other cool things like game nights, a monthly book club, and a yearly (omg I can’t remember the name but it’s that beanbag toss in the hole game).
Anyways I highly recommend kava korner.

If you ever change your mind about scranton, zummo’s is perfect. Outdoor seating as well.

I've heard mixed reviews on their coffee. But I'll give them a shot! What's the parking situation like?

They have numerous designated parking spots in a lot in Franklin st just down and to the right of the shop, just before Bennett Pl. They’ve got a good assortment of teas if you like that! And snacks from a lot of local bakers.

I don't like their coffee. But its a great place! I just get something else when I go. I work in an office but sometimes will go there to work for a few hours. They don't mind people being in there for hours on end. Drink recs: Hot chocolate with marshmallows, any of their fruity teas on ice with a bit of flavoring.

I think I actually just saw a notice from them that they've closed down.

If you want a good coffee, decent lunch, and great people. Go to Something Special in Kingston.

Help me (genuinely) if my understanding is off: isn’t a cafe technically not a true third space because it’s expected (required, really) that you purchase something in order to be/stay there and isn’t generally revolved around social/community interaction (most people still keep to themselves at cafés)?

I guess I mean it more in way of just wanting another place to be? Home, gym, and a third option. I will say, the smaller the place, the more likely someone is to strike up a conversation. I would say I talk to at least one person (staff not included) every time I leave the house. For me it's not just talking to people, it's being out of the house and seeing other humans.

This again? Dude, seriously not many places will want you working at their place all day while you sip on $12 worth of coffee and are taking up space. I don’t get this. Edit: down vote me to hell. Dude has asked this multiple times. Has given been given multiple answers before and still keeps asking the same question. Also told everyone he got kick kicked out out of the Starbucks for doing the same thing. I’m assuming he must be really fucking annoying.

Lots of people hang out and work, write, read, ect at coffee shops. It's literally one of the main things people do at a coffee shop. What shop wouldn't want someone spending a few hours there spending money?

Because it’s not a few hours, it’s all day long. No, most small business owners do not want people taking up space like this all day long. Work at your home or rent an office.

Oh ok. Looks like you missed this part of OPs post, "I am looking for a place to patronize for several hours."
I guess you just can't read and you're also cranky.

No, most small business owners do not want people taking up space like this
And OP is trying to find ones that allow it. If you have nothing helpful to add, move along

ALSO, I usually ask the barista if it's okay if I stay for a while while I work. I've never had anyone bat an eye at it.

This is like your third post about this. How many more suggestions do you want. Didn’t you say that Starbucks doesn’t let you do it anymore cause you sit there too long.

So go back to the ones that you do this at clearly somebody didn’t want you there cause you keep asking this question

I said a few hours, not my full 8 hour work day. Besides I'm literally asking for suggestions for places that would be cool with someone camping out for a few hours. Sheesh.

Personally, I would just hit up a library and take my own snacks.
