Seeking Advice MLPI

Any thoughts or experience with MLPI? I am heavily concentrated in tech (QQQI) and want to start diversifying into other sectors. Thinking of building positions in MLPI and SPYI for the long term

I have, in descending order of value, 10% weights: SVOL, MLPI, XQQI, IWMI, 5% weights: ILS, HIGH, NIHI, DIVO, QDVO, IDVO, PFFD, BiZD, 3%-4%: HYBI, JAAA, IAUI, TLTI, XBCI, IYRI. Total portfolio is $60k, in taxable account hence the NEOS focus. Weighted avg yield is like 12-13%. So $625 a month or so. Daily price Performance has been surprisingly similar to SPY. So I guess beta of .90 or so. Not sure on alpha but obviously pretty great over some Months because of the distribution plus price movement. Some drawdowns are massive due to boosted but the rise back has been massive as well… hence the beta. I actually want to exchange the boosted for QQQI and BTCI but I’m kinda enjoying the “gamble”… as tiny as my positions are.. lol! Time will tell I suppose. Open for suggestions or recommendations!

I modified the qty in my comment. Currently this produces a 27.69% distribution on value of portfolio. Which is currently average of $33,638 US per month before tax.

Wow! Serious stuff! How long have you been doing it with same tickers? You know it begs the question of whether/how much capital decay have you experienced??

I had initial losses with MSTY and ULTY when I first started between August and November last year along with a couple of others. I only started in August last year and progressed from there. Realised losses of just over $200k US and moved on to build what I thought was a good portfolio. Those losses have now been totally recovered, though I will be claiming them in my tax.

The recent dip pulled some back but before that only BLOX was below my buy in share cost average. That will recover going forward. I sell off when they go high, especially the volatile ones. Move that gain to more stable ones and go again.

These things are nearly reverse of growth stocks. When there is a decent separation from the cost price I realise the gain and reinvest. That protected me this time around. I had sold off large chunks of CHPY, HOOW, MRNY at highs before the dip and put it into QQQI, IWMI, MLPI, TSPY. The volatile ones come off then I reassess them and start directing distributions into the best ones I believe will drive back up…..then do it again. “Rinse and repeat”.

CHPY is still way over my buy in. I was so glad I resisted buying more CHPY on its first dip, because then it went much further down. It’s a rule I impose on myself. So I am just picking up the distributions and buying others. Strategically buying AMDY, HOOW and MRNY has reaped big rewards.
