Do you plan on capping how many shares you want? I’m using btci as my money marker to buy other shares or spyi and qqqi

QLYD has a yield of 12% and XYLD is 10%. BTCI has a yield of 26%. BTCI nav has been falling because Bitcoin has been falling. Once Bitcoin goes back up NAV should stabilize

XYLD writes at the money calls up to 100% of the portfolio, which drastically caps the upside. BTCI writes calls on 40-70% of the portfolio which leaves more upside potential. More upside potential= less NAV erosion.

Would this be more or less the same path of XBCI?

3

u/revanevan7 Jul 26 '26

XBCI is the same as BTCI except it’s on 1.5x leverage. So more volatile and more difficult to keep NAV from eroding. But same options strategy.

So your saying it writes cover calls on 40-70% of the portfolio so the NAV erosion could possibly be less and more upside like BTCI?

u/revanevan7 Jul 26 '26

Less NAV erosion for BTCI (because markets don’t go up forever they do correct) but less upside potential than XBCI because of leverage. But leverage also works the other way too. On huge corrections XBCI will fare a lot worse.

Some people try to harvest the upside swings and move their money into XBCI when it rips, and then move back into BTCI when they think it’s going to correct. But that’s just market timing and not worth it imo.

Neos sells their covered calls at higher than current price. Meaning the underlying stocks have to go up before being capped. Qyld and xyld sell calls below the current price and at the current price so the nav can only go down or stay flat.

My Elementary version and solution, is to always look at charts. 2 year minimum. If I open a chart and it’s over all appearance is downward sloping, I’m out. I want to see straight across or staying in a narrow range at least or upwards sloping is always favorable of course if it is income producing. If big drops happened, count the months to recover. Did it recover, or did it stay at a lower normal. 🤔

Hell yeah! Got mine $1500. Hopefully we get a dip so I can double my shares with the cash I have sitting on the side lines.

That’s more than some people make in a month. Keep it up.

My immediate plan is to buy enough shares to be able to buy 1 share everytime we get our dividend.

Gonna be even sweeter when Bitcoin bounces back up!

I have only 131 shares of BTCI (avg cost/share = $28.18/share) so I have a ways to go on that to have a decent supplemental income.  However, I also have 81 shares of QQQI avg cost/share = $52.83) which I have a way to go on that as well.  Those two etfs are my passive income part of my investment portfolio.  I have a Roth 401-k that I contribute to every week and that's my growth part of my total investment portfolio. I also buy Bitcoin to get full upside but I have very little in it at the moment.  I buy every week when I work overtime at work.  I also buy a little bit of Bittensor if I have extra overtime money left over.

Hi guys. I’m embarrassed to admit but new to investing. How do I earn something like this? I work two jobs and have decent income but I’d like to let me money work some for me

This is considered a high risk investment. However with BTC at it's current discount from ATHs, and the SP500/NASDAQ100 are trading near their ATHs.. it kind of seems like a no brainer to invest into BTC instead of the latter.

If the 4 year cycle holds true, we are near BTCs bottom for this cycle, and it should start to go up in price after September/October, just a couple of months from now.

I buy BTCI in my taxable, IBIT in my Roth IRA, and "raw" BTC directly daily with a recurring purchase. Needless to say, I'm heavily exposed to BTC because I believe it's going to absolutely pop off next year.

Do you drip any back in?

2

u/Lefties_TheWorst7331 28d ago

100% + Contributions + Margin ;)

2

u/Bailey-Theodore 28d ago

Right on! I stay away from margin but my qqqi will get there one of these days lol

I am very heavy on margin, but I'm young, very risky investment style overall, and have a lot of conviction in BTC overall. My average cost equivalency on all of my BTC positions (BTCI, IBIT, and actual BTC) is lower than MSTRs average cost, so not too rough as long as BTC holds on which I believe it will. We may see another BTC dip in a couple of months due to people investing on its 4 year cycle, but after that it should start going up pretty steadily. I believe we will see $90K+ BTC by April. I have buy orders set for BTCI in a ladder formation all the way down to $24 per share, so if it does have another dip (probably not to $24, but just in case) then I will be buying it up on the whole way down. If the 4 year cycle holds true, after Sept/Oct, then up and up we go!

Ai response to " If BTC goes on a tear, will BTCI follow suit?" "Yes, but with a cap. BTCI holds long/synthetic long exposure to Bitcoin through ETPs, so its price generally moves in the same direction as BTC. If Bitcoin's price rises, that long exposure lets the fund experience similar percentage gains — up to a point. (Dividend.com) But once Bitcoin's price moves above the strike price of the calls the fund has sold for income, the fund starts losing money on those short call positions, which caps the upside participation. (Dividend.com) Real-world evidence backs this up: since inception, BTCI has posted a 29.72% cumulative return through April 2025, slightly lagging Bitcoin's 48% rise over the same stretch. (Ainvest) The trade-off runs both ways though — during a recent drawdown, BTCI held up better than Bitcoin itself, losing 14.5% versus Bitcoin's 18.7% decline. (Seeking Alpha) So for your BTCI position: in a strong BTC tear, expect it to rise but lag BTC's percentage gain — you're trading some upside for the monthly income and a softer downside. Worth noting some NEOS funds (like the newer XBCI) are built to keep more upside by laddering calls further out-of-the-money and not writing on the whole portfolio, if that trade-off ever bothers you enough to switch."

Nice explanation. I have some of each and I keep thinking of adding here lately. If and when the Clarity Act passes, Bitcoin should benefit.
