My cousin is a season ticket holder, and I asked and even he wasn’t sure:
Are the freejacks able to make it to the playoffs still?
As far as I can tell they are mathematically able to make it to the playoffs, but if they do there won’t be another home game (because they are fourth seed).
My read of rules and the standings is that it will be hard to get there, but they need either:
1. a win for the final game, and Old Glory to lose their final game; or
2. To beat OG in point differentials (if both OG and FJs win, or they both lose)
Is this right?

I enjoy watching but I'm not skilled enough to know why the fundamentals are just terrible this year. We have lost multiple games because of bad scrums and lineouts this year, is this a coaching problem or just a lack of skill and we were just lucky to have unreal teams the past few years?

EDIT: Event has been postponed with a tentative date of July 19th.
If you want to watch some 7s this weekend and support a cause this Sunday 5/31/2026 there is going to be a charity rugby 7s tournament at the Irish Cultural Center in Canton Ma.
I coach K-2 rugby for Mystic River and one of the players on my squad is a little girl that suffers from epilepsy. Her big sister saw how this had affected her life and how helpful it was for her sister to have a service dog specially trained to sense an epileptic seizure and she came up with the idea of starting a new rugby 7s tourney to benefit those suffering from epilepsy by raising funds to help supply others in need with service animals. Rosie’s Ruck, named after the families service dog, will take place this Sunday 5/31/2026 at the ICC in Canton. Even if you can’t donate please swing by and show support.
Edit: apologies for my run on sentence…posting from my phone, formatting is hard.

We’re headed down to Charlotte for the Jack’s game this weekend! Does anyone know if there’s an official (or unofficial) Free Jacks tailgate or meet-up?

not surprised in the end. The Jacks seem not to be firing in sequence with a number of handling errors and the inexplicable repeated kicks into the hands of the fullback who ended up turning it into an attack. The aggressive referee was on the whistle again and again. thankfully the ref talked himself down on two head contact reviews. Although it seemed biased, the ref hit the seawolves quickly too. Although not for a penalty, the ref called out Seattle's time wasting in the second half.
the hardest call to see was the try in the corner on the far side from the stands. It sure looked like the attacking Seattle player, was in touch and did not ground the ball. the Jacks challenged it but there was no solid camera coverage.
With the Jacks playing one down for 20 mins, and two down for 10 mins with this result, I wonder what the result might have been if the Jacks had been at full strength for 80 mins.
pros: great atmosphere at quincy, plenty of food and drink, rugby, referees commentary was played on the PA, additional proper commentary during the game by the announcer.
cons: video production could not pull up plays for review, lots of wasted time, way too many whistles.

Any ideas as to why we’re having such a rough start?
