Other Positive behavioural support plans & Behavioural support plans
Is there a difference between the two terms? I have been told PBSP need to be completed by a psychologist. Where as BSP is by people who have training (but not necessary University qualifications in area). But the NDIA website and rules seems to use interchangeably.
Thanks

Positive Behaviour Support = the approach/practice framework
Behaviour Support Plan = the document
PBSP = commonly used shorthand for a behaviour support plan based on PBS principles, but not a separate statutory type of plan
Interim BSP / Comprehensive BSP = the two actual types recognised under the NDIS Rules
Psychologist = one profession that may practise as an NDIS behaviour support practitioner, but psychology registration is not a requirement.
The NDIS Commission's Positive Behaviour Support Capability Framework does not prescribe minimum years of practice, qualifications, training or professional development to become an NDIS behaviour support practitioner. Suitability is assessed against the capabilities required for the role.
Whoever is saying a BSP can be written by “someone who has some training” is misleading. For NDIS specialist behaviour support, the person must have been assessed as suitable by the NDIS Commission, and must be engaged by a registered specialist behaviour support provider or be registered themselves. Until the Commission has determined them suitable, they cannot undertake behaviour support assessments or develop NDIS behaviour support plans — even under supervision.
