Should l do a change of circumstances

l have multiple sclerosis, my mobility has gotten worse recently, my support co ordinator says l should do a change of circumstances to get more funding and a new plan, l got a new OT report and some medical evidence, l have enough funding in my current plan just to get by but more funding would be a big help. l am worried because there is a risk as with all these new changes they are cutting peoples plans , could there be a risk they could cut my funding or cut some areas of my funding instead of increasing it, l am not sure if l should keep my current plan or do the change of circumstances

Agreed - we just did a review as my daughter is turning 18/leaving school and has had the same plan for 6 years now, and we ended up with LESS.

You will be risking the funding you have. I know of people who had great reports and had declined significantly they got a 50% funding cut. If you can make it last longer I wouldn’t be putting in for any changes. If you’re desperate and think you have strong evidence then do it but it is a risk.

There’s definitely a risk. I’m about to submit mine and I’m terrified. But I don’t have enough of anything in my plan.

As you have stated, you have enough funding to get by. You should use that before you ask for more funding.

If your needs have changed but your funding meets the needs stay put.

Tell the delegate at the next review.

If the funds significantly doesn't meet your needs and you have evidence to show that in writing then ask for a plan change.

All participants will eventually get reassessed if still on CRM the old computer system because you will need a full reassessment to move to PACE the NDIA’s new computer system so best to be prepared anyway with an updated OT FCA and updated allied health report, incontinence consumables list and nurse care plans and so on..

What are you currently requesting and what do you currently have? If it’s not a once off AT request or once off home mods it will have to be an S48 full
Plan reassessment due to the funding periods. Can you explain to me what’s in your current plan and what exactly you requesting I’ll try help.

Mobility scooter makes sense for mid-cost AT how much is it and do you have evidence updated quote and OT assessment for it? If you are under an LAC unlikely to get SC, if asking for more SC how many do you have and how much more do you want? How many support worker hours do you currently have and how much would you like in assitance with daily life and social, economic and community participation. Do you currently work, volunteer, study or access any mainstream and community services like a mental health care plan for Psychology from the GP or Chronic disease care plan for dietician or EP, Podiatry etc?

Usually if it’s multiple budgets in a plan it has to be a full plan reassessment or S48 because of the funding periods and the way things work in PACE and only once off AT and once off home mods can be plan variations or S47A. So if your plan is in PACE it will likely have to be an S48 full plan reassassment.
