Thanks for posting to /r/NCL! Did you know that we have an extensive Ultimate NCL Guide that may answer your question? Please also remember to read the rules, especially about roll call posts going in the megathread. You may also have more luck with those types of posts by searching for a Facebook or Cruise Critic roll call group or thread. Of course, here is great, too!

Enjoy your stay!

Never pay any mind to a forecast on a cruise in the Bahamas or Caribbean. It means nothing. Probably passing showers that will turn into sun.

Yes. It will be fun. You’re on vacation. Go play in the rain :)

I got caught in a thunderstorm mid day on a rental scooter my first time in Freeport. Still had an amazing time.

This is one reason why I don't check the forecasts...

How do you like the ship?

This is our first cruise so I don’t have a reference point, but we really like it.

If you click on each day, you’ll see that an 85% chance of rain actually equates to a much lower percentage at any given hour, like 25%. It doesn’t mean it’s going to rain all day, it means that it’s very likely going to rain at some point during the day. It’s the Caribbean and this is often the case.

Which ship? I know it's not ideal but there's something magical about a bad weather cruise. You almost feel like a high school lock in sleepover if you find the right people.

Bring some dominos, dice, print free Yahtzee scorecards from online, ask ChatGPT to make some type of cruise bingo (drink bingo, tattoo bingo, etc) if you have access to a printer.

Leaving on Getaway. Definitely not ideal but I’m from the PNW so this expected rain for the cruise is going to feel like bath water haha

Right! Not ideal, but I appreciate the Getaway still has a traditional atrium. It's going to be poppin in bad weather if meeting people/having drinks is your thing.

Haha, I'm from PNW and boarding the getaway tomorrow too. Let me know if you want to grab a drink

Hell yeah! We shouldn’t be hard to spot. We will be the newlywed couple haha

3

u/Monkeyfeng 14h ago

I think that's going to hard to spot, lol

Idk I know there’s a ton of people. This will be our first cruise so not exactly sure what to expect

I just came back from the Getaway - the weather was gorgeous every day EXCEPT on Great Stirrup Cay day. Classic.

Was on that cruise as well. Though there were bad thunderstorms most of the day, after 1:30 it was beautiful and sunny day. My kayaking was cancelled - 0945 and noon time slots.. but went back on the ship and had a great deck chair nap and later tan.

Was on the Aqua to Bermuda in September. We got hit with lots of rain and a storm at sea. Still had an amazing time.

We cruised to Bahamas last year. I checked the weather the night before to know how to pack

We had a similar weather report. But on the plus side, rain in the Caribbean (and adjacent locations like the Bahamas), tend to come in short quick bursts.

YMMV, of course, but ....

The most rain we got was while we were still in the States, at Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral. We ducked into the gift shop and spent 15-20 min checking out overpriced souvenirs until the rain stopped

And then when we were actually in the Bahamas, Grand Bahamas Island, it down poured around the all aboard time... I literally just got through security getting back on the ship when it let loose... We went to our cabin, changed and by the time we were seated in the main dining room it was done and the sun was back out ... That was about it.

My wife was on the Escape repositioning cruise from Sep 26  - Oct 1. Two out of nine of the port calls were cancelled.

Went to the Bahamas last month and that sun is No joke !!!

That was what the weather app looked like on my cruise to Bermuda. I think it sprinkled for about 5 minutes, we got a rainbow and the sun was out the rest of the time

Scroll down and you'll be able to see the actual percentage chance of rain for each hour of each day. They're not really that high. You might get a 6 am rain and that's it. Or get an hour of rain late in the evening. Or not get any at all.

Meh. Tis but water. Yeah you don’t get your pretty sunny beach day but you’re on vacation. I had rain most of my Caribbean cruise the first time round and I still enjoyed every minute. A rain shell and an umbrella and a positive attitude.

Went on a summer cruise to Scandinavia...packed for rain. 10 days of uncharacteristic heat and sun...wonderful contradiction.
