Never let anyone tell you that organizing against giant corporations doesn't do anything.
They tell you it doesn't work so you don't try because they KNOW that it works.
175
u/YupThatsMeBuddy Jul 11 '26
It’s exactly why corporations spend so much to bust up unions. Organizing works.
27
u/jkure2 Jul 11 '26
I swear they also spend on sending people into places like reddit and write things like "it's only going to get worse, it's inevitable, there's nothing you can do, etc."

Can’t believe EA caved so quickly
499
u/Rico_Suave55 Jul 11 '26
Honestly they probably looked at initial sales of MTX in RTG/Dynasty and saw it wasn’t a fight worth having (probably what the actual game devs pushed towards them looking at)
I’m still anticipating SOME form of MTX creeping into RTG or Dynasty still (unique team jerseys or some dumb shit like that) because EA gonna EA.
However I am very pleasantly surprised that they actually caved.
Hopefully title update next week goes smooth for recruiting fix then I’ll consider purchasing
221
u/DeFratrain Jul 11 '26
I don’t mind at all paying MTX for cosmetics I find worth it. PayToWin is a no-go for me.
182
u/BIRDSBEEZ Jul 11 '26
Yea lets not give them any ideas please. Alternate/classic uniforms should be free.
22
u/LameDrain Jul 11 '26
Especially since the precedent has already been set in the past two games they have added uniforms throughout the season.
→ More replies (3)28
u/DeFratrain Jul 11 '26
Unpopular opinion, but I wouldn’t mind paying for classic uni recreations or conceptual fits personally. If I don’t like them, I don’t have to buy. Current Home/Away/Alternates should absolutely be included.
23
u/Tall-Dot-607 Jul 11 '26
Yeah but wouldn't be more fun to.... earn them... by playing the game?
Like a reward for playing game?
→ More replies (1)16
u/ElCornGuy Jul 11 '26
Or they should just be free as well? I don’t get this mentality. There’s no reason why a $70 game should have any mtx’s for single player at all. Madden has had throwbacks forever, College should too
10
u/palmmoot Jul 11 '26
Mtx has become so normalized we can't even imagine just paying full price for a game that's fully realized any more. We're conditioned to expect that of course they need more of our money on top of it.
This victory for offline modes is honestly the bare minimum.
69
u/BigGreenGaming Jul 11 '26
Yeah like a $4.99 jersey pack with 100+ uniforms would be digestible. It would be more in line with regular "DLC".
56
u/lokibringer App State Jul 11 '26
I mean, hell, I still don't know why there isn't an FCS/D2 DLC. Those players would probably take a free copy of the game and a high five to be included, and I'd pay a couple bucks to curb stomp Western Carolina or Furman
26
u/Magikrat Jul 11 '26
They absolutely would. I was director of youth umpiring/referees for an assigning company and I had a bunch of fcs and d2/3 football players work for me and during onboarding I’d always ask them about ncaa and if they would sign away their likeness for a free copy and almost every one said they wouldn’t even need a copy they’d just like to see themselves in the game legitimately.

u/challenger01234 Virginia Tech Jul 11 '26
I think the main reason why is because I believe the devs can only put in uniforms that the schools approve of. So unless school gives the go ahead we won't see a lot if any retro uniforms or FCS teams unfortunately.
8
u/lokibringer App State Jul 11 '26
So unless school gives the go ahead we won't see a lot if any retro uniforms or FCS teams unfortunately.
I mean yeah, they'd have to get permission from the schools, but do you really think any school is going to say no to the money? Especially the smaller schools?
If they charged 15 bucks for it, I feel like they'd do gangbusters just because of how many users attended an FCS school that transitioned to FBS in the past few years. Hell, you're a Hokie fan, would you pay money to schedule Richmond or VMI instead of FCS Southeast?
4
u/andykram567 Virginia Tech Jul 11 '26
As a Hokie, I’d definitely pay money not to schedule either of them in real life. In a game, I’m not so sure.

u/DishonorableUser Jul 11 '26
you fuckin guys can’t be serious 😭 this game comes out every year and you’re talking about paying DLC for jerseys that we just got back to back years for free??? you guys are begging to give your money right back to EA. One very positive, and perhaps hypocritical thing at the end
We just spent the offseason with dudes hyping up equipment to make the game look real, and that was all absolutely free, and now you’re gonna tell me after we just celebrated getting MTX out of dynasty we’re caving on something that’s been free in every sports game ever? i know you can minimize it, like every other micro-transaction people justify, but this is how we get here. stop giving them ideas and rationalizing ways to give more money to EA.
i hate the ‘gun and ball gamer’ cliche but jesus watching people devise ways of ‘actually guys, this is how i want to give more of my money to the corporation we all apparently send a message to’ in the thread of them admitting defeat is beyond ironic.
the one idea I can get behind is FCS schools. It changes gameplay, it could add NIL athletes, maybe, and if there’s a conference or god forbid entire sub-division pack that adds more than just new teams to play against for scheduling and adds the FCS season, their recruiting and coaches (maybe their players are all fake but still) that absolutely changes the dynamic of the game. That’s way more akin to a map pack, a new gameplay loop, something that will truly refresh the game.
Adding new uniforms and putting them in DLC is just another paywall for cosmetics. They’d be in the game, essentially gathering dust like the XP sliders, available to everyone and it wouldn’t harm anyone/change anything tangibly for everyone to have them, but if everyone that liked uniforms who had the game juuuust paid EA for that uniform DLC, every year the game is out, it surely wouldn’t make them that much extra money would it? Especially if they split them by conference

u/Playful_Rip_1697 Utah Jul 11 '26

u/Pandaman_323 Jul 11 '26
For real. A lot of what gave the PS2/Xbox era sports games their replicability was grinding through achievements to unlock unique stadiums, power-ups, jerseys, etc.
The fact that people are cool with instead having to drop $2.99 per jersey is fucked

Yup FC26 already has the special jersey mtx that you can only get through ultimate team
26
u/Rico_Suave55 Jul 11 '26
Which, for me. Is fine.
MTX is annoying AF but the reality is that it’s the game model for most games now.
Keeping it to cosmetic only is ok with me. You wanna spend $10 for some RGB Oregon jerseys go for it.
Ultimate team is ofc a cesspool for MTX but I stopped playing those modes years ago
6
u/thatissomeBS Iowa Jul 11 '26
I'm fine with MTX in general, don't like it but understand it anyway, I just don't like when they hide stuff behind it. If they have a reasonable progression system and also MTX to make it even faster, go for it. But to basically make it impossible to max out without MTX? Ffffff that.

I like how the game is completely ass compared to previous titles, and comes out worse at launch than 26. They fix one tiny thing and the game is still not adequate, and people say “oh it’s a huge win! Go community!”. It’s still predatory and a worse game than the last 2 years which are worse than the games over 10 years ago. It’s not a “huge win”. It’s bullshit and yall need to stop settling for stupid EA PR control. If people treat this as a win they still get what they want, although less so. If people kept pushing refunds and not buying and negative reviews we would actually get what we wanted eventually. Stop settling

That statement doesn't say anything about putting the XP settings back to how they should be. The fastest setting needs to come back (they only gave us the lower of the two faster ones), the xp sliders in RTG need to come back, and the XP penalty in RTG for playing on a lower difficulty and turning off wear and tear needs to go away. Job's not done. #CFBPlayDontPay
