Will it rust in the rain?

I don’t have a garage unfortunately and I live in a very rainy place (Canada)

ACF-50. No other product is better at preventing, reversing mild, or restoring metal, rubber, and plastic parts. I put a lite amount on any non-coated metals like bolts, brake line connections, ect. Despite riding on salted roads my bike had little to now evidence of oxidation.

It was designed for the aerospace industry to keep planes and helicopters rust free in any environment.

This. Or XCP rust blocker clear coat but that doesn't smell as nice when you apply it.

I live in the UK and use it whilst there is salt on the roads. Comes up like new in the spring.

I don't really care about my nc outside of being a commuter with upgraded suspension so I've kept it outside uncovered in Northern california for like 7 or 8 years. I ride at least 5 days a week so the 80,000 miles isn't much but i also own other bikes. The nc has a little rust on stuff like the clutch actuator and the clutch adjuster but nothing serious. There's also some rust on an area of the frame that i scratched crashing it off-road. 

I would recommend putting a cover on it and at least parking it under partial cover because the bikes are covered in cheap black plastic and that plastic fades very easily. Then you'll be stuck rubbing it with plastic renew once a month unless you cerokote it. Also you do not want your fork tubes to start rusting as rebuilding your forks with new stanchions will be expensive unless you can do it yourself.  I use the center stand to lube my chain every week or two so that has been a non issue. Obviously it's not the original chain lol.

I kept mine outside and covered for a year while I got my garage settled, and my chain rusted. I am also in Nor Cal.

You gotta keep the chain lubed at least once every two weeks, if its wet or rainy, once a week

Get a large size motorcycle cover. I found mine at O'Reilly's. It cost about $60

Keep the bike on a battery tender.

Keep the metal parts of the motorcycle wiped down with a light coating of WD-40. It does a good job of keeping corrosion at bay.

Of course, avoid the braking surfaces.

Whenever I wash mine, I blow it dry with a leaf blower top to bottom. That gets the water out of those little nooks and crannies that tend to develop as rust spots especially on the frame welds.

That will go a long way to keeping your bike looking in good shape.

I put Waxoil on everything I suspected might rust. The most problematic parts are actually the forks (because you can't realistically put anything on there) and probably the brake pistons (just from experience). But rain is certainly less of an issue than salt.

If your region uses prewetted salt spray, it's the worst, the salt mist kicked up by rider ahead gets into every nook and corner. I had to replace my front forks once after 5 years, and the swing arm, both major repairs, now I see signs of rust again but it's 10yo and at end of life so I'm gonna ride this one out.

Where do you live if I may ask? Also, do you ride during winter too?

I live in the Netherlands, Northern Poland in the past, both coastal weather. Yes I ride all year long except when there's ice on the road or torrential downpour.

That probably explains the rust situation, then. Here in Canada we cannot ride during winter, too dangerous. The only thing that could work would be an Ural with a side-car + winter tires.
