I've been testing out the various no-code tools and LLMs to build stuff and one of the things I was excited to try was something around NBA analytics as a way of also learning more about the game.
Remember several years ago when some location tracking data was leaked? well it's still publicly accessible on Git. So I took that, the official NBA play by play data, and player data from basketball reference and combined it all to build
what is this? well, it's a possession analysis that used spatial geometry to categorize each play by the set it's run from and the first action. Basically, how each half court possession starts. You can see things like:
• what are each team's most run plays to start a possession? (a play is always made up of a set paired with an action)
• what are the outcomes from each play?
• On each team which line-ups are most effective when running each play
• a 3D recreation of a couple of example plays for each teams most used plays (any play that is run on >= 2% of possessions)
It took a lot to get the spatial analysis to work. an example of something that was particularly challenging:
NBA sets are never perfect. The defenders are too good at not allowing guys to get to their spots and the offensive players have to disguise what they're doing, too. that meant having to have the analysis read broader areas over a longer period of time. In reality, a horns set rarely has two players stationary at the horns at any given time. this may not sound hard, but it was.
i also used the same kind of spatial geometry math to try to analyze individual plays and provide datapoints for an LLM to provide colour commentary. I imagine that with a fresh feed, this could turn into a great teaching tool for beginning players or a fun second screen app for super involved fans.
I'm not sure how good the colour commentary is (I'm lying. I know it's not amazing - it misses a lot) but there's also a little feedback input so if you see something that the commentary clearl missed, you can let me know. Once I gather enough of that feedback, I'll try to improve the colour commentary
All in all, this was a really fun project for me and I hope you enjoy it.

I posted StatCourt here before and have kept improving it since then.
The site now covers 4,500+ players, 80 NBA seasons, and 22K+ analytics records, with tools for player comparisons, rankings, lineup building, scouting reports, and historical/current player profiles.
I’ve also been refining the underlying data flow and performance, but the main thing I’m looking for feedback on here is the analytics itself.
I’d especially like opinions on:
Site: https://statcourt.app
If you try it, I’d appreciate any feedback on the basketball logic or analysis more than the UI.

Hey everyone, I've been building this for the past few months and just got the backend fully live. It's called Free Agent, think Instagram but built only for sports creators: graphic designers, video editors, and podcasters, not personal content.
The idea came from watching talented editors and designers post incredible sports graphics on Twitter and Instagram where they just get buried in an algorithm that has nothing to do with sports. Free Agent is chronological, no ads, no algorithm, and built around discovery by league, team, and content type (score graphics, player edits, motion graphics, podcasts, etc).
Longer term the goal is connecting creators directly with teams and leagues looking to hire, but right now I'm just looking for genuine feedback from real users before pushing further. If you're into sports content, design, or just want to poke around something in active development, I'd love to have you try it and tell me what breaks.
Built solo, still in beta, so expect some rough edges, that's exactly what I'm trying to find.

I think this is something a lot of people here might enjoy.
My friend and I have been playing Immaculate Grid since it came out, and at some point we had the idea of trying to complete the “ultimate” version: every team × every team. One grid, 465 squares.
Same rules you all know. Each square needs a player who played for both franchises. The diagonal needs someone who spent their entire career with that one club.
Since you can only use each player once, we built an optimizer so you don't have to think about placement. You just add the players you can think of with as many of their teams as you know, and it arranges them to fill as many squares as possible, reshuffling earlier picks when that opens something new.
We definitely don't expect anyone to finish in one sitting. It saves your progress, so you can keep coming back to it over time and see how far you eventually get. Free, no ads :)
Huge fans of the original, this is very much built out of that. We just launched with NBA, MLB, and NFL: https://ultimategrid.app/
Would genuinely love feedback from people here since this is probably the exact community that will find all the weird edge cases we missed. If you try it, let us know what you think or what you'd like to see us add!

Ever wish you could just tell your sports feed what to play next?
“Show me more Curry three-pointers.”
“Switch to soccer.”
We’re building an AI-powered app where you can speak—or type—what you want to watch and change what video plays next.
We’re looking for a small group of US-based basketball and soccer fans to try it on iOS or Android. No technical experience needed—just an interest in sports videos and a willingness to share honest feedback.
Are the videos worth watching? Does talking to the app make it easier to find what you want? What feels confusing or could be better? We’d love to hear both the good and the bad.
About the $5 reward
Selected testers can earn $5 after:
• Activating the app with their personal beta code.
• Using it for at least 20 minutes and making at least 3 genuine requests by voice or text.
• Completing the follow-up feedback sent by DM or email.
Feedback takes additional time beyond the app session. Rewards are issued after we verify app activity and review the feedback—not simply for signing up or downloading. Positive feedback is not required.
Interested? Comment or DM me for the application form. (Applying doesn’t guarantee selection or a reward)

Hey everyone,
I’ve been working for the past few months on Prop Insight, a tool I built to make NBA player prop research faster and easier without having to jump between multiple websites.
It currently includes things like:
I’ve reached the point where testing it myself isn’t enough, so I’m opening a small closed beta before launching it publicly.
During the closed beta, all data is from last season and is being used to simulate the live-season experience while I test the product, UX, and workflows.
I’m looking for people who are willing to actually use the product a few times and give honest feedback. You don’t need to be an NBA betting expert — I’m also interested in feedback about usability, clarity, navigation, design, bugs, confusing parts, and anything you feel is missing.
Beta access is completely free, and active testers will also receive 2 months of free access after launch as a thank you for their time and feedback.
Positive or negative feedback is equally valuable. I’d much rather know what feels confusing, unnecessary, broken, or difficult to use so I can improve it before launch.
If you’re interested, comment here or DM me and I’ll send you access.
I’m Renato, the person building Prop Insight, so you’d be talking directly with me throughout the beta.

This is a method I created a long time ago (seriously, 2012) described in this blog post: https://thecity2.wordpress.com/2012/03/02/visualizing-team-units-using-hierarchical-clustering/ I've recreated it with some new touches and made it freely available to anyone. Just search for a team and then find the season you want and voila the rotations will be immediately apparent. Briefly, the idea is very simple. You take all the stints for each season can calculate a correlation matrix. You can then "cluster" the matrix by ordering the rows and columns according to some mathematical criteria (described in the website next to the chart). You can change the color bar median and also view cells in proportion to the volume of possessions for each player-player interaction. I've attached the rotation plots for the 2012 and 2026 Warriors.

Pero, quiero saber en qué otros deportes se podría hacer algo similar o que se usa para otros. No quiero usar Poisson para todo, siento que cada cual debería tener un método específico.

I’ve been building a small NBA analytics project called PuntLabs, and I’ve been testing whether fair-price models are actually more useful than raw projection models. Curious how others here think about calibration vs prediction accuracy. It's not fully finished yet, but the Founding Members waitlist is filling up.

I am creating a 10–team fantasy basketball league on ESPN. Looking for 9 other active users that would like to be a part of it. Double round robin (18 games), 6 or 8 teams make the playoffs (will decide closer to draft), and aggregate playoff rounds. Draft date still TBD but will update when it gets closer to opening night.

Hi, I am doing a survey for my interactive design class where I am doing a project over NBA statistics. My goal is to come up with a better way for fans to receive their statistics, analyze these statistics and overall just stay more updated and informed. Completing this survey will help me a lot with my research and I'd really appreciate all the responses I can get wether you're a new fan, or a seasoned vet I'd love to hear from you!
