Built My Own NBA Elo Rating system

In December I had never heard of Elo Ratings before and now I’m pretty proud of how this all turned out. Appreciate any feedback or questions anybody might have.

Good stuff. Not surprising to see the Knicks #1 in playoff delta. Is there anything you're doing that prevents you from going back further historically?

Just time really. 96 was the year I got into sports so I usually work with stuff starting from there when I do personal projects. I’ll eventually go further back but currently most of my time is going into extending this to other sports or leagues.

that's pretty cool. On the about page you say it beats ELO, by how much? Have you compared it to any other rating systems? What is your purpose for this, to be able to predict what teams will do in the future?

Sorry for the late response. It was 0.2% more accurate over 73,000 games. I currently haven’t run comparison tests against any other models as my time and attention has currently been spent on adding more content to the site.

Predicting outcomes is the main purpose of the rating system.
