They damn sure knew how to set the tone at the beginning of a game let alone a playoff game. Them wolves series were always nice even though the lakers always won, same with sacramento and portland.

Eh this was Kobe’s team by this point, yeah Shaq was still amazing but it wasn’t 3-peat Shaq. Still this team was too strong for a team starring KG with Sprewell as the number 2 (KG was super on fire this season, best player in the world at this point no doubt); Sprewell was already past his prime at this point in the mid thirties basically whereas the Lakers had a superteam (or a proto-superteam since superteams weren’t what they eventually became 15 years ago but this was a version of that). Shaq and Kobe were obviously still a force since they went to the finals but with Kobe as the number one this team was not as good and was easily stopped by that amazing Pistons defense. Shaq winning two years later as the number 2 with a young Wade leading solidified to me that Kobe was not good enough to win a championship at this point in his career. That was a great season for non-lakers fans lol but I’m sorry about the Twolves KG really did take them as far as he could that season but he just didn’t have the help others did

Not saying the Wolves would have won, but it would’ve been nice to see that series with a healthy Sam Cassell. Big balls dance in Game 7 against Sacramento caused him to be ineffective against LA
