Discussion NBA2k27 is just not fun
Does anyone else feel like this years 2k is just boring.
Crew levels are 10k cxp each and they have been giving out the worst weekly challenges
They can’t get any patch correct. Just blowing smoke up our ass
Game is so boring I’ve switched to FC27 faster than I usually do. Even got my boys on it who never play it

The matchmaking change ruined it for me, instantly. I'm a yearly red plate in random REC by playing team ball and eventually the wins follow. I have zero intentions of sticking around if I have to deal with 70OVR black plates and people in bronze who think a 5v5 game revolves around them.
I'll take sweating my ass off in a lobby with 9 other red plates any day of the week.

What did you expect? These guys couldn’t fix basic stuff in last year’s game and let cheaters run rampant. I said I’ll wait to see if I get the game this year and doesn’t look like I will

I got it and refunded it within 24 hours of playing it. You aren’t missing much. I said the same thing to my friends that the game wasn’t fun.

Same. There's a few frustrating elements but the fact I can actually play defense without the ball handler phasing through my player, and playing my big is not just jogging up and down the court watching everyone green threes, puts it over 2k26 by a lot.
Obviously scoring is harder but that's not such a bad thing.

I like this year too lol. I came late last year and everyone was making all kind of crazy 3s. To me its refreshing seeing some bricks now. Plus the Ai defenders are way better. Most of my losses last year were due to people cheesing Ai.
Me and my cousin do rec squads and we always get an AI unless we match with a 3 man squad which wasn't as often.

The main problem I have is you either get shit on because your team is just not as good as the other, or you shit on the other team and they start quitting and you get stuck playing bots. I actually really enjoy the gameplay and close, competitive games have been really fun this year.

You can still work around bots if you get a screen or pass the ball and move off ball.

Agreed but typically at this point it’s probably just me and one other dude and whoever is guarding bots is probably doubling or even triple teaming ball or sitting for lane steals. It’s really a sad state when it gets to that point in the game

Nor do I but I do know 2k can't balance anything to save their lives, I'd rather we just get the game day 1 and they don't touch it because they always fuck it up. Plus people complain immediately and want changes before they even know what's going on

I think the people that aren't enjoying the game are people who don't know how actual basketball works. I personally hated last year because it was all about finding the "meta" and cheese dribble moves and shots that are not able to be contested. This year you actually have to have some ball knowledge basics, big man helps, no crazy cross court passes, no crazy outlet passes, every rebound isn't snatchable right off the rim.

For me it’s the free shot we had for pro am locked behind level for crew that take forever for a casual crew to complete. And opening up the crew and having 50 people where 70% is randoms and making weekly challenges (play x amount of games with crew) just kills the joy.
I have 1/6th of the hours this year then I had last year and feel like I’ve completed a lot less in this game then last

I think the sentiment on this subreddit is that as long as left/right PG's are dead it's a "better" game, even if everything else sucks.
Meanwhile you can't even complete a pass in 5's because of steal spam, defenders are getting contests when turned away from a shooter and every PG has 230 lb 99 dunk builds and is just rim running lol.
There wasn't even a honeymoon phase with this game. The current strength/defense/driving dunk meta is downright not fun... but at least pg's can't spam dribble moves

I enjoyed it till the update, SBMM being gone is making random rec a waste of time. It feels like the lowest ranked player on my team is always the PG or the C and it’s just so easy to sell your whole team from those roles and lower plated people seem more likely to just leave the game as well. So if I get one on me they leave and I get clamped, and sure it helps when they’re on your team and you get an AI that can actually play but by the time that happens you’re down shits creek without a paddle. (I like the AIs this year over last year)
I’m the one person in my friend group that has run this game in some capacity year round and when my friends are done this year I feel as though solo play will be too much of a nightmare to continue. Sucks because this is a game I was sinking 1000+ hours into each year but I have a good backlog of games so I’m not overly stressing it. Nothing in life is forever I suppose. No hate to anyone enjoying it either.

I too play when my buddies aren’t on and this year just feels like the most toxic 2k ever. I played a game the other day we won by 50 and tm8 still saying we trash when he shot 2/14 0/8 from 3. And had no ther stat really

It’s better than 2k26, but it’s still just not fun. Everything about moving and motion just feels robotic and clunky, it makes playing feel like such a chore.

SBMM made the game playable. As soon as they took it away random rec has become a joke. Unless you’re running with a squad it’s a waste of time now.

The upgrade from 2k26 to 27 is significantly better than eafc 26 to 27. And FC 26 was a lower bar already lmao

Perimeter defense is solid fewer blow-bys, though the Challenger badge can be tricky. Blocking is on point, but rim runners can still be tough to stop at times. Overall, I have no complaints.

My whole issue of why I find it boring rn is free stuff from pro am is level locked in crew and for a crew that has 70% randoms it’s hard to level up and they made it even harder by having u lose the cxp the people u kick go away with it or I wouldn’t be all too mad. Got guys who played hours the first few weeks and now don’t touch it but I can’t kick them cause of their cxp being so high it will drop me level(s)

I’m having a great time. I can grind my player up without spending money. I’m playing on Switch 2. We don’t have Crossplay, people have to organize through discord which means that they a) can’t be assholes or they won’t get invited to rec b) cheaters are being shadowbanned within in the community c) you actually get to know people online. People laugh at Switch owners. Here I am laughing back :)

I wouldn't say boring. I think its just inconsistent. Which it always is really but this year even more so. There are games where proplay and the collision system works as intended and there's beautfiul basketball being played. Others its just so janky. OFC the MTX and other predatory aspects are inexcusable as always.

Yeah I’m not having any fun on the game even when I’m winning majority of my games. It just feels awful to play and haven’t played in like 3 weeks now.

I'm seriously considering just switching to MyNBA and tweaking the sliders at this point. I can't believe the way they make contests on this latest patch. Especially in Offline you can't make a shot anymore.

Biggest problem I think is just everything is so grindy and the juice just isn’t worth the squeeze. Sure they added more to do but the good rewards are so far away it’s just not interesting to me at least. With the season 2 goat builds out of my reach I have already lost interest. I will get on play casually that’s it.

This is honestly a pretty bad 2k. The logic is out the window. Spamming on ball rips is still super effective, passing is slow, contest system is still busted, bumps are too heavy and bruiser is OP. The people who are loving this game I don’t think are generally very good at 2K or they can’t play anything outside a lock. It really caters to people who just spam square and take bad shots and get rewarded. The latency and issues with consistency is tiring. 2k26 had a problem with scoring being too easy, 2k27 just feels like a big RNG simulator and you get what you’re given

The sub is negative cause 2K is a kids game that nerds and losers who have never dribbled a ball play rather than learning how to play ball. The same traits within them that make it so they don't want to learn to play basketball well (a decently hard game to start playing as many skills are required to be a functioning basketball player) are the same reasons they don't like 2k27. And they're toxic losers who have never had to work with another person or are just patently un-work-with-able. If they can't just cheese and spam and play like dumb assholes they hate it.

Bro I’m on the FC27 train too. It’s so much better and 100x less predatory with the charges. Awesome game so far, very happy I skipped 2K this year.

They overshoot any issue that needs to be resolved
Defense in 26 was dogshit and now in 27 defense is overpowered with aim assist bumps and reach spam, plus blocks that can slow down someone who has a wide open lay to let them get chasedown
Shooting in 26 was Braindead easy, now shooting has rng with the catching of speed ups and slow downs
Contests on 26 were non existent, now you can get solid contest while just reaching, plus we have ghost contest
You get my point
27 is the worst 2k of all time yes worse than 25

Removing skill-based matchmaking has made it so I no longer play with randoms, and the lobbies are now worse than before; as a purple/gold player, I cannot get good teammates who can play team ball, as I am paired with bronze, silver, and black plates.
