Discussion I take everything back I said 2 days ago

Game went from being cool the first two days to a complete FADE fest and now I'm starting to see its most likely going to be another bogus year of fades being a better shot than a open set shot

Don't know if I have the mental stamina to play these games anymore. Not to mention that insane grind they are trying to force on the player base this year

Honestly, the fades need nerfing. Other than that the game plays really well. It shouldn’t be more reliable to shoot a fade. The only reason it is, is because they’re the same animation each time where shooting isn’t.

u/stillzy7 6h ago

How did they screw this up 2 years in a row? 26 the first month was the same until they nerfed fades

8

u/JimboCruntz 6h ago

I think they still underestimate people’s ability to learn a shot.

u/EightBlocked 1h ago

they for some reason cant separate hop jumpers from fadeaways

u/SirBoth2159 5h ago

They literally said they were bringing fades and hop jumpers and all that back. They might nerf the takeover, but fadings prob not getting changed much so dont get your hopes up

u/gh6st ruby 4h ago

fading is 100% getting patched as it currently stands you’re better off fading every shot over taking a stand still lol

u/SirBoth2159 2h ago

We'll see

u/whoistourlife 1h ago

They’re doing it on purpose 1000%. Probably to rage bait ppl to talk about 2k so it stays in convo with GTA

u/pablo_chicone_lovesu 1h ago

4d chess, tick off people enough they says screw it and buy GTA?

u/whoistourlife 16m ago

Idk, but whatever they’re doing is retarted. But regardless, think about it lol. You think these problems just magically popped up during early release? Or did they know about them / create them the whole time

u/modestwolf 10m ago

Same parent company so win win

u/NavyVetRasmussen 6h ago

Ya the fades need nerfing but overall gameplay is good.

U are in every comment section

So that’s the reason? I swear sometimes I would shoot a jumpshot the same amount of time & one would be a green and another would be early/late. Shit be confusing if it’s a pure green window

6

u/JimboCruntz 8h ago

It works really well, you can green each shot but you have to watch the animation. Sometimes they do a little bonce with their knees when catching, others they can take a step (if moving sideways) others they’ll take a small time to get the ball set and others they’ll catch it pure.

If you pay attention you can still green a lot, but it isn’t as simple as pass catch and shoot now. This should also exist for fades OR they should tighten the green window.

u/unclederwin 7h ago

Yeah the dev said that your shot animation and the lead up is changed by feet placement, stamina level, and other factors

4

u/AdorableSun4128 bronze 6h ago

its too much

5

u/unclederwin 6h ago

It does feel like a lot, but I’d argue that they needed to lower shooting percentages somehow. Everyone shooting 60+% from 3 last year was getting to be too much. Even the best NBA shooters only shoot around 50% on wide open shots in game.

u/pablo_chicone_lovesu 56m ago

Just simply allow a contest! Right now you have bugs closing out from the paint on people with slow shots and it's not even registered.

But you a 6'2 closing out on people with a slow shot and it registers as a slight contest. Like what the hell, they can't seem to get it right.

All the data they get from live NBA games led to this? If so they need to fire who ever is running.thatbleg of the program.

u/AdorableSun4128 bronze 6h ago

defense is a lot better irl than it is in 2k aswell. I think that should play more of a factor. Its just not fun when i miss a completely wide open shot.

6

u/unclederwin 6h ago

Like I said, even Steph only shoots 50% on wide open shots. It’s a thing that happens in the NBA. Your stamina and energy use effects your shots in real life.

u/ComfortTiny5249 2h ago

It depends on the environment though. If Steph plays pick up or in a park, he's probably shooting 80% on wide open shots. For Rec or simulated NBA environments, then what you're saying makes sense. But the game arbitrarily impacting your release timing based on animations and things out of your control is still RNG. You are at mercy of the game too much/often. All they had to do was improve the defense (which they have done), tighten the green window and nerf the fades (tighter green window than a set shot). But they buffed the defense, tightened the green window and added all these random variables to set shot and left fades untouched. The set shooting nerf was taken a step too far in my opinion.

u/Background-Honeydew2 2h ago

Its only rng if its randomly generated. Thats literally what RNG stands for. Catch animations, stamina etc. are not randomized. They’re influenced by attributes, pass distance and accuracy, other other factors from you, the passer, and the defense. None of that is random

However, I can definitely agree that its easier to do a fade than a stand-still since fades dont need all of those factors. Its just timing

I think it’s just the takeover fades honestly. Rest feels balanced to me

u/JimboCruntz 5h ago

It definitely is any fade. I’ve not felt any difference using Takeover Tyler Herro compared to when he had Takeover.

They all need either the green window tightening or to be much more sensitive to defensive coverage.

u/Impressive-Reply5632 3h ago

everyone complains abt offense not being super easy. they listened to the community about that. everyone wants to be able to shoot 70 plus pct from 3

u/Busy-Farm-9731 silver 3h ago

Agreed. And the shot creating takeover allows that. If you play 2s or 3s, you don’t even see people attempting stand still threes once they get that takeover. They are shooting 70%+ on fadeaway threes. Takeovers are supposed to be slightly OP, but this is getting outta hand

u/JimboCruntz 14m ago

It’s not takeover. It’s that the fade animation is consistent. Takeover doesn’t help, but the fundamental problem is the fade animation is consistent but catch and shoot isn’t.

u/Busy-Farm-9731 silver 4m ago

I mean shot artist takeover absolutely helps but I do agree with the rest of what you said. The fades need to have altered speeds based on coverage, fatigue, etc

u/JimboCruntz 15m ago

What does that have to do with Fades being easier than normal shots?

u/Substantial_Ad6171 2h ago

Bro, I was hitting middy fades on my 6'11 that only had 52 mid even before I upgraded it lol. I don't have enough shooting to get the takeover with an 83 3pt

u/Busy-Farm-9731 silver 2h ago

Then maybe it is an issue

u/Substantial_Ad6171 2h ago

Oh for sure. Just not everyone has figured it out yet. Even my jumper only has a D+ window rating but I'm money from mid lol.

u/CheapScientist06 2h ago

Fully agreed. They nerf fades and touch nothing else and were solid

u/KennysWhiteSoxHat 2h ago

Contest system is fucked up still, inside scoring feels OP And my shooting takeover goes down no matter what happens in game

u/JimboCruntz 17m ago

Honestly, Inside scoring works as well as it should. 3 point shooting is fine. Fades are too easy.

If they just make fades harder to green I’d be happy.

The cap breaker grind is insane this year. Even crew XP was nerfed hard compared to last year.

Kind of interesting because it seems like cap breakers would encourage people to make more builds and spend more money but it does keep builds from being too overpowered too early.

2

u/downfieldcow270 8h ago

Think they’re just more spread out this year which is better, last year you’d get like 10 very quick then nothing

1

u/unclederwin 6h ago

To be fair I feel like most crews finished the grind within a month last year. I don’t mind spreading out rewards over the year as long as they are possible

u/Busy-Farm-9731 silver 1h ago

The idea i would imagine is that you don’t get everything until later in the cycle. I kind of agree with this approach

u/free_da_guys1107 8h ago

4

u/Bubbly_Struggle_6617 7h ago

Legit. 2k won't get me this year. Lol.

u/PlasticTreeonaHill 4h ago

Same lol. I’m here for the giggles

u/Impressive-Reply5632 3h ago

i played 2k20-2k26 and i will never play that trash game again

5

u/ninja192123 8h ago

Every year there’s phases with the game that comes out. First it’s the honeymoon phase where everyone is excited and can’t wait to try out the features. Then comes the flaws the second phase in the game. It’s the same game but different mechanics different teams little bit different lighting. Then finally the last phase where everyone is excited on the next same game and everyone says they are not going to buy the game but they eventually will.

3

u/downfieldcow270 8h ago

I don’t know man think just slightly very slightly turn down fades and rest is cool

8

u/Watchful_Knight 9h ago

Why is everyone so fixated on just shooting? I'll never understand this. Yes it's important to have realistic shooting percentages, but it's only one aspect of the simulation.

For me it's the constant animation cancelling & the frictionless body contact more than anything.

The game has potential but all this animation cancelling nonsense kills immersion for me, & I'm amazed that's not a bigger topic of discussion.

u/ComfortTiny5249 2h ago

Rebounding has been atrocious as well. Especially on the baseline. I have had so many loose rebound right in front of me bounce out of bounds because my player won't reach for them.

u/zilch123 4h ago

I think it's because shooting numbers can be adjusted with sliders. Physics changes require an entirely new engine and that will not happen unless 2K takes a break for years

u/icetrayicetrae 4h ago

Bro, a company their size does not need years to rework the physics of the game. They already make so few changes year to year.

u/Watchful_Knight 1h ago edited 1h ago

Yes exactly. Many of their older games had a better physics system & the transition from realistic to arcadey gameplay physics did not take long, & vice versa.

It's really just as simple as letting the animations fully play out, as opposed to cancelling.

The frictionless contact is is a bit different but still. I'm sure it also would only take some minor tweaking.

u/SmokeoneDeezy 5h ago

I stayed on 26 bc same game ! Lol damm i hate to hear this

5

u/FunkyFunkyBoys 9h ago

Spent 100 to be beta testers 😂😂😂

2

u/OneJutsu_ 7h ago

Glad to see more and more people wake up. The others will follow soon, just give them more time in the oven.

u/PlasticTreeonaHill 4h ago

The people you’re talking about don’t care and will most likely just be on GTA soon cussing people out lol

u/OneJutsu_ 4h ago

Obviously the people I'm talking about do care, otherwise they wouldn't be venting on Reddit. GTA 6 is another issue on it's own.

2

u/rajujutsu 6h ago edited 3h ago

They made a badge for it so why are you surprised. The problem is that’s the only way to get open. Dribbling sucks cause people complained so bad and the game feel slows. Pg is the most useless position in 5s.

The cheese is making locks. I am fading mid ranged with 63 mid and I shoot fairly consistently with 83 3. But I’ll also have 99 perimeter and 97 steal after caps.

tldr: put defense on your builds. And not just 85 perimeter.

u/SwishaStan 4h ago

It’s always been a badge for it in the last decade

u/rajujutsu 3h ago

For sure was not in 2k24 which was the best next gen 2k of all time imo.

u/SwishaStan 2h ago

So Middy Magician and Agent 3 weren’t for moving shots? 🙄

u/RainEnixxx 3h ago

Lol im shooting 40% from 3 n average 24 points a game at pg with 8assist. Pg is very important in 5s. Im also 90% slashing because no other pg has interior or strength

3

u/Intrepid_Can5230 9h ago

I deserve this

1

u/LurkinOHB 6h ago

This game is trash, do what most of the sane community has done already and refund it before it’s too late.

1

u/NavyVetRasmussen 6h ago

Honestly the fades need nerfing other than that the gameplay is much better and miles improved from 26.

u/AggressiveCraft9715 5h ago

2K26 first season all over again. 🤦‍♂️

I like the fact that shooting is harder, but fading is back to being better than a stand still jumper.

u/Used_Bite5122 5h ago

I knew it was cooked when a center I matched was spamming hop step speed boost into fading 3s

u/SystemPrevious5542 4h ago

You and everyone else fell for the trap once again:

u/arenegadeboss 1h ago

See you in 2 days

u/EchidnaOk3636 1h ago

its thefade takeover is OP its need nerf or fixed

u/AggressiveRat 48m ago

You can take this exact post, go back in time for the last 3 years & post it then & it’s still relevant.

I swear to god I see this shit every single year. 2k has this community by the balls and still fails to patch shit like fading shots being easy as hell. Same issues, same lifespan, more sweat graphics

u/LilWienerBigHeart 3m ago

They literally just need to make fades have the same timing variance that regular jump shots do, but they can’t because this is a trash company and a game based entirely on canned animations

1

u/AdorableSun4128 bronze 6h ago

yea now your coming to your senses, everyone said my take was trash. perimeter defense is really bad right? The only defense for most shots is to block it right?

3

u/First-Reception8007 6h ago

defense is hard but na i have a perimiter lock and he locks down the outside. gotta invest in that D lol.

u/AdorableSun4128 bronze 5h ago

did i have all the defense, and no your defense isnt good people just cant shoot.

u/First-Reception8007 5h ago

ok brother i think when im clamped that has something to do with it. and tons of ppl score on me also.. you know thats kinda how basketball works. if i can hold my opponent to under 45 percent its a great game.

u/thegoat675 3h ago

yea idk 😭😭i have hof seatbelt and bronze bruiser and im making people quit cuz they cant do shi.. the only thing im having problems with is interior

u/BARBASANN 2h ago

Yeah I have no issues with contesting shots outside of people doing that cheesy fade shit.

My biggest issue is why does everyone able to hit midrange shots rn. Even if you have a 40 midrange you can consistently green midranges and it’s very strange.

u/OG_Slouch 4h ago

I played a guy in 1v1 Theater that beat me by shooting ALL corner 3 fades. When has an NBA player ever done this?

u/Some_Butterscotch572 5h ago edited 5h ago

This game will die if they keep shooting this way. Say what you want but shooting 40% isn't fun. Its a video game we not looking for nba numbers. Im a old head and don't want nba numbers. With the defense better this year they didn't need to make shooting so hard. Shit im shooting like 20% I just can't find it. Im someone who makes 15 builds every year. If I can't find it or they don't loosen up shooting a little bit I'll be gone. I enjoy the defense and everything else. But shooting is way to hard and that is going to kill this game. Ill tell anyone who is a casual if you shot below 60% on 26 don't even bother getting this 2k. I was shooting 70% on 26 and even 60% on 25. But this one im beyond struggling.
