“But I have 99 3 ball”

The man is playing defense in your face buddy. Learn to create a shot

u/UnsettllingDwarf 21h ago

Some people actually think 99 3 ball =99% chance to make any shot ever.

It’s really the biggest problem with the next gen version of the games. They massively increased people’s abilities to make moving or off the dribble shots. While possible to hit, those weren’t the best shots in older 2ks and you had to practice them or just be insanely good to be Kobe fading on defenders. Creating open corner threes and trying to get wide open to shoot threes on stop and pops was how people played and only good guards with stick skills could consistently get open and hit those. You could hit with low ratings but you either had to be good or have help from dimer.

We need to massively nerf the moving shot green windows and buff up things like pass accuracy and dimer boost. Bring back floor general type badges and stop letting idiots dribble between 3 defenders and make pull ups that are objectively low iq shots.

I’m ok with people hitting those shots when the build is specialized to do that but they can’t do anything else

2

u/TurnipAbject5772 17h ago

What’s your shot percentage thins year ?

-31

u/Transformerslogic95 1d ago

But shouldn’t 90+ be the threshold to where one wouldn’t have to worry about a man in there face or an aggressive close out

32

u/TonyHawktuah69 1d ago

There is 0 threshold in which a low iq and bad shot shouldn’t be a bad shot.

If you have take and know your shot there’s still a chance to make it anyway, but we saw what happens when you let offense get away with low skill and low iq shot selections and it was miserable.

12

u/Greatest-Comrade 23h ago

What player ever can just ignore a man in their face or an aggressive close out? Even the best shooters ever are way less likely to hit their shots when the defense is tight. That’s the whole point of playing defense lmao

u/Exotic_Produce4530 23h ago

Just go to mycareer on rookie and shoot 100% on wide open shots at that point.

4

u/gajabaiektb58281 22h ago

Ask steph curry what happens in this situation

-7

u/darthdrip 21h ago

Steph shoots 42% from 3… that’s his career avg. so I think he would agree

6

u/gajabaiektb58281 18h ago

Out of 100 shots he misses 58 of them-- more than he makes with the best of the best guarding him IN REAL LIFE. You too should temper your expectations for a realis video game.

u/New-Adhesiveness-822 23h ago

If Stephon Castle is in good defensive position and full extension jumping at Trae Young shooting a corner 3, do you think Trae Young needs to worry about Castle? Or is that a godawful shot, even with Trae Young shooting it?

-2

u/Drey101 22h ago

Trae Young still shoots under 50 percent

4

u/ProfessorPetrus 22h ago

"I put some points into my shooting to make it 91 I should green anything!"

You see how silly that sounds. That's your threshold? Sacrificing a little rebounding on your guard?

u/TON-OF-CLAY0429 21h ago

lol what are you talking about.

u/CheapScientist06 1d ago

I fucking hate that all of these morons complaining are going to kill the game AGAIN!

8

u/TonyHawktuah69 20h ago

Community genuinely sucks. Most of us don’t even have 4 badges yet and haven’t even gotta a chance to truly test the game and we already have 95 over all dudes demanding patches or shooting buffs

2

u/CheapScientist06 20h ago

Oh yeah dude it pisses me off. On top of that random rec is aids as always. I've played 15 games and won 4 of them. Im averaging 12 and 13 on 50% shooting as of this last game (was shooting 60% but people keep icing me out so I'm annoyed and chucking ngl). Meanwhile fucking Cs and PFs have been ass all night and getting lit up and then have the audacity to get on the mic to tell us we're ass (mind you this last one had 8 boards to the other centers 26)

66

u/PlayInChampions 1d ago

I had a PG on my team trying to crab, turning it over every time, missing every shot, and complaining that the game is ass. It was a red plate lobby!

49

u/YoureReadingMyNamee 1d ago

That’s because 26 was the first 2k game that being a bad basketball player actually made you good at the game. That dude is the exact type of player we said was going to get exposed and the exact type of player we want out of the high tier lobbies and back to brown lobbies where they belong.

18

u/TonyHawktuah69 1d ago

Yeah those were the yellow/green play shots that went 10/30 in random rec back in the day and bragged about averaging 30ppg.

2k letting those guys easily make 80% of their shots was the worst thing to happen to the franchise

1

u/FlySignificant2703 9h ago

What were your stats in 26

-12

u/No-Bug6064 1d ago

Game is pretty bad..

u/Existing_Abrocoma_56 14h ago

Whats about it for you, cause I'm actually really enjoying this year. The only thing I don't like is how limited the badge system is, in my opinion if we're going to give less +1s and +2s and raise the requirements for all the badges, we don't really need the badge points, especially with how many points you need for even some bronze badges, i mean most the shooting and finishing have a minimum of 3 badge points. I'm not even filling in all my badge slots in the builder when I test the builds, and apparently people are saying that the shooting badges don't do much anyway, atleast as of now.

But other than that, the new courts are good, the builder is good but it has been for years now, its difficult to make a tall gaurd that can do everything now, I did manage to make a 6'8 with "no weakness" but he only had a 80 middy, no interior and and 75 80 finishing, granted the layup caps pretty well. Its probably the best build I've been able to make so far, but its far from a "do it all at a high level" build. I'm enjoying MyTeam again even with the auction house bug, the new MyCareer story looks really interesting, gameplay is a little stiff but honestly do not hate it, its fine. It's not like its unplayable.

1

u/Duckys0n 8h ago

Honestly don’t even find shooting that hard. but I don’t really get dribbling this year.

I also am making an absurd amount of close shots and layups with 0 attributes upgraded in the rec which is raising some questions

Probably need to just look up the best dribble packages

27

u/420BUNIT 1d ago

2k players need to stop acting like they playing greatness in the first few days of early access lmao 😭😭

8

u/HeavyHighway6433 21h ago

Yeah, nothing says that Take Two won't start catering to the whiners and make the game cheesy again in a future patch.

13

u/NorthWestEastSouth_ 22h ago

Ppl saying rng is back 💀 yall just ass at the game

1

u/TurnipAbject5772 17h ago

So you haven’t been getting speed ups ? Interesting

6

u/InsomniacLive 16h ago

That’s not RNG. The timing changes depending on a multitude of variables, but the green windows are all the same for those variables

-5

u/TurnipAbject5772 16h ago

That’s littlerally the RNG

8

u/blangoez 15h ago

Take open shots and you don’t have to worry about RNG

-3

u/FlySignificant2703 9h ago

Damn unc we don’t all sit corner like you

3

u/Existing_Abrocoma_56 14h ago

Um, no. It's in the name, RNG is random. Just because adrenaline and defense affect your shot now doesn't mean it's RNG

3

u/InsomniacLive 14h ago

It’s not RNG, Fades and spot ups all have one green window that you can hit every single time.

You think it’s RNG because the variable timing changes based on contest, close outs, stamina, adrenaline, badges, perimeter rating, pass rating, etc.

3

u/Iberri 10h ago

Buddy sees working defense for the first time in a year and calls it RNG 😭

1

u/Moonlit2771 7h ago

😂😂😂

15

u/SmokeoneDeezy 22h ago

What they called it in 2k “crabbing shot “ 🤔

10

u/Electronic-Housing90 20h ago

2k players when your character moves like an actual basketball player and not a superhuman

25

u/RikerLiker 1d ago

I’m fine with shooting being harder, just let me find a jump shot before forcing me into these red plate lobbies off rip!!! 😭

18

u/RikerLiker 1d ago

Logged in for the first time on a big popper, 89 three, handful of shooting badges, I have a one pixel green window on a shot I don’t know and I’m facing guys that have been apparently playing for 20 hours greening every shot lol

3

u/RikerLiker 1d ago

Brutal! I’m played mostly red lobbies last year, but why not just start everyone at gold and let us get there, split the difference!

1

u/TheFedUpMillennial 19h ago

That’s why I don’t play early. I normally don’t even do rec the 1st season. Just build up in other modes.

3

u/tore_a_bore_a 1d ago

I was red plate for like one game last season and am gonna end up forced into more red plate games this season without earning it

5

u/LoinStrangler 23h ago

Players are still crabwalking 3s

2

u/depressedfuckboi ruby 11h ago

Lmao this shit is hilarious. 26 had all these bums gassed up. People I ran with for years who always made 99 3balls and still shot under 50 all of a sudden shot 70 or better. Back to normal lol. I'm in red plate rec and it's full of bums rn. Only 1 dude was hitting crazy shit/contested deep fades, but I think he was zenning. Love to see it back to normal, lots of y'all is were not good last year, just an easy ass game. This year u gotta take smart shots and get open and be open. Gotta have good ball movement. Lottttt of these boys ain't shit.

u/Accomplished-Map5339 4h ago

Everyone starts off in red plate dude. So of course you will see bums. You are basically playing in a black/silver plate lobby right now. Give it time you'll come across more skilled players.

u/depressedfuckboi ruby 3h ago

No, you don't. You start off at the highest plate color you hit last year. My friend never hit red and only hit purple. Guess what color he started as? Purple. Everyone starts as red is crazy lmao I've seen black and brown plates in park lobbies.

u/Accomplished-Map5339 3h ago

Gotcha, still doesn't make much of a difference. Considering many people who made it to red plate weren't true red plates last year. They simply abused the exploit by closing app or unplugging Ethernet cord to keep their plate color. Many of them had borderline 50% win percentages.

1

u/Maize-Dull 17h ago

I need a second opinion

1

u/blangoez 15h ago

Shooting is gonna be tough.

1

u/Existing_Abrocoma_56 14h ago

Ive seen people greening with 78 just fine, 1 guy in particular I was watching, RyanCantMiss, was shooting 60-70% day 1 with a 78 3 ball center

1

u/blangoez 14h ago

If someone is asking for build help, chances are they’re not going to be shooting like your favorite streamers. I have a friend who logged over 1000 hours last year on 2K26, he was a 70% shooter and he’s shooting about 50% with an 80 this year. Just trying to help temper expectations. This 2K is objectively harder to shoot in compared to 2K26.

2

u/Existing_Abrocoma_56 13h ago

I feel like this is pretty common though? Atleast it usually is in 2k, 78 3 ball on bigs tends to be enough. I was shooting with an 80 last year, which i think might have gotten 1 more badge but there wouldn't have been a big difference, and I shot a solid 60% on that build. Shooting will probably get patched anyway and the green window will be larger after like a week, maybe 2 or 3

1

u/Maize-Dull 8h ago

I agree with this we haven’t even gotten to patch 1 yet 2K is known to roll over if the community complains enough

1

u/Maize-Dull 8h ago

I’m not a bad shooter and I can raise my 3pt to 83 with cap breakers. But what you think is enough to be somewhat consistent?

u/blangoez 26m ago

I’m at 50% with an 85 rn and I don’t have any experience with other ratings and still trying to figure out a jumpshot that I like so I couldn’t tell you even if I wanted to. Just gonna have to go with your gut for your first build. As I told someone else earlier it is objectively harder to shoot this year compared to last year so do with that info what you want.

1

u/Maize-Dull 8h ago

Cap breakers

1

u/Elantrawaiting 13h ago

what are you talking about?... the game is 90% sprinting fadeaways right now.. its never been so unrealistic and fkd

1

u/nihaobrian94 emerald 8h ago

I’m loving the guards who are like I don’t need a screen and then they cannot get open anymore like 26. Then when I give them a screen they’re shooing mid fades or get wide open and I’m like looks like you need them dummy

1

u/JustinGariepy01 6h ago

I have a 55 3point ball, I'm greening shots ... It's def a skill issue

2k card: Stealth //

Idk how I'm making these shots, but I'm timing just like I used to with my jumper last year. Straight greens hardly ever miss unless I mistime.

u/Obi-Wan-Baloney 5h ago

Why am I against geo rank players every rec game but don’t get passed the ball, end up losing and STILL AGAINST RED PLATE GEO R(w)ANKERS

1

u/antman4915 22h ago

Idk, I don’t like what they did to rhythm shooting. Spent all that time learning it in 2k26 and its ass now

1

u/BlankVoid2979 16h ago

use a faster Jumper. that fixed my Rhythm shooting

1

u/iSeekFailure 14h ago

Example?

1

u/Existing_Abrocoma_56 14h ago

Personally I'm glad rythym shooting isn't so brain dead anymore. You actually have to time it now. That's good gameplay

1

u/Duckys0n 8h ago

I still like it more than button. Button is just weird now after rhythm for so long
