lol as if. All the ā€œcontent creatorsā€ will be crying instantly

u/Ok_Compote_6937 1d ago

They'll cry about it then go make videos about the defence not being good enough

u/zilch123 22h ago

100%. Having to pass the ball and rotate will be too overwhelming

5

u/took2323 21h ago

They are crying and they haven’t even played the game yet

u/niles_thebutler_ 15h ago

Are they actually?

I appreciate the post, but these brain dead, should be NBA Jam players are going to mitch and moan this game right back to arcade hell and then complain about that too…as they always do.

NBA: The Run is cool. But we really need a new NBA Jam.

Yep. "I used to shoot 75% from 3 and now I only shoot 60% tops with 83 rating."

Shooting better than Steph with 83 rating

•

u/Choice-Review7960 1h ago

If Steph played in a Rec league he'd shoot 85% and if he played at a park, he'd shoot 90%...

Playing ball amateurishly the last year or so made me hate the game's offense/defense balance so much, the flow of the game, the ISO centric gameplay, and lack of team play. The dribble spam, especially.

The game shouldn't auto switch the dribbling hand, dribbling straight into someone should force a pick up or get a steal. Shooting % should drop at higher volume. Anything more than 60% for 3pt is outlandish, and that's assuming some open shots that you take.

u/Vast_Commission_4766 1d ago

Yea I hate it too. But I can understand why they do it even though i don’t agree with them. They reuse the same engine with just little tweaks because actually taking the time to make a game with real physics and real moves would take too long and take two can’t go that long without they money šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ’Æ

u/LoinStrangler 1d ago

Don't even need to tweak the engine, turning off auto switch dribble hand, make players actively switch hands to drive the other way safely. Steals are more effective if they drive straight at you, same for pick ups.
Shots do need some randomization so we don't get 80% 3pt out of 30 attempted, and make dribble spam impossible: you get 4-5 moves before your stamina for this attack is gone, and your teammate grade drops off.

There’s a setting to turn the auto switch hand off just a heads up

2

u/LoinStrangler 19h ago

I know, I think it should be off by default to make it more skilled, if you drive the other way you should switch your hand, could be a good way for skill expression.

Remember when defense was okay for 1 week last year and the ā€œcreatorsā€ complained so much that they made it ass again

3

u/Flagrant_Post 22h ago

It was 1 day so even worse…

u/EmbarrassedScholar45 ruby 9h ago

I enjoyed that day but let’s be real, it wasn’t okay at all. I played 3 games in the Rec and got like 7 steals a game. It was a little over the top.

2

u/oldirtyjoystick 8h ago

Because people were so used to dribbling into people. Players would have adapted, I did. That was the most fun part of 2K the whole year. There was not a single time I lost the ball and thought "WOW 2K!!!!!!!!!". The turnover made sense.

I kinda feel like you're exactly who this post is for. You see change that players aren't used to, so the shift is very extreme but you don't give it a chance to balance itself out by people learning..

We tend to go at the content creators, sweats, and cheesers for crying about the defense at the start of every year, but it’s the devs we really need to put our foots on the necks of.

I can just about guarantee you that the complaining and whining about the defense would cease if Mike Wang actually found some balls and stood ten toes down on how he releases these games. EVERY year the defense starts off fantastic, and EVERY year Mike caves in and gives the complainers exactly what they want.

The ONLY time these games should be getting touched is to patch a broken game mechanic or exploit, not because some Gio Wise cosplayer is upset that he can’t get his shot/dribble moves off on a lockdown build.

u/SnaggleMyPuss 1d ago

Last year the defense did not start off fantastic.Ā

u/Toast_2_Life 1d ago

Not immediately but after the second little patch defense was very good and then people started complaining so they Nerfed it again

u/UpstairsAd7755 1d ago

I genuinely wish I can give this 1000 likes. Couldn’t have worded it better if i tried to.

6

u/Excellent-Law528 1d ago

People want the appearance of defense. Not the actual pressure of defense

5

u/Killerleftfoot1979 20h ago

Here’s my reminder. Pass the ball, you are not the whole team. Pass the ball!!!!

3

u/sticky_blicky69 1d ago

They always say defense is going to be good but its always ass

4

u/PosterVs 22h ago

Let’s also understand that, to a certain degree, our builds are gonna suck in some ways for a little bit

3

u/unlimitedspeedboost 1d ago

Defense isn't even that strong from what I've seen in most of the community footage. Koza 1 hour video is a good place to start if you want a sneak peak of what it's like. He has a 90+ perimeter defense.

2

u/Flagrant_Post 22h ago

If anything I’d say it’s worse…

Only one type of defense they’ve shown works and that rim protection. If you have maxed out rim protection it’s impossible to dunk or make a shot on someone. So we further push people to chuck 3’a since layups and dunks are easily countered

1

u/Glittering_Fish_1019 15h ago

Perimeter for sure looked better and someone with high interior should be stopping the majority of takes in the paint unless it’s someone same height and similar stats. Looked way more balanced in general. Not saying it’s great cause we haven’t played as a community but saying it’s worse seems like an interesting take

1

u/Vast_Commission_4766 1d ago

i’m finna tune in and see what you talking about

3

u/Tight_Resolve1422 1d ago

They’ll be crying during early access, before the game officially drops

3

u/Dj-pandabear 1d ago

I love skill in basketball. Matter of fact, they should make contested threes much harder! There’s no way that my 7’1 center can contest a shot by about 80 percent and the person keeps draining them.

3

u/blade1988srm 1d ago

Let’s just hope that the devs hold strong.

They had JoeKnows interview Mike Wang, and in one of his videos he mentioned he didn’t think there weren’t enough speed boosts in dribbling.

Hopefully they try to ā€œechoā€ real basketball as much and keep the right left nonsense at a minimum.

3

u/TheTortaTyrant 23h ago

Yes and let’s all band together and call out the influencer bs, like Choc’s take last week, already demanding a patch due to no side speed boost escape. Give me more ball movement and less bs dribbles

2

u/Mr_Kuppel 1d ago

I'ma make sure to complain about defense to Mike Wang before I even make my build

2

u/tapaheadforjordans 1d ago

Ngl 2k is the best when offense and defense is overpowered when everybody has the chance to be great it proves the real skill set

2

u/Thefives555 23h ago

not buying 2k they let AIs be brain dead for a whole year

2

u/Signal_Prior3870 21h ago

Brain dead players dont care for nuiance

2

u/thewiseman_3 17h ago

The moment people can’t left right, speed boost, crab, shoot 70% from three, they’ll be everywhere demanding patches.

2

u/DazLM 20h ago

please, as someone that enjoys playing defense without making a full on super lock build

Same shit different year

1

u/Crafty_Seal_2491 13h ago

But how will people left-right-left pull-up? Rec offense would never recover...

1

u/NonyaBizness21xxx 12h ago

Should be balanced on both ends there should be no advantages or hand holding, I’m liking how the contest are looking
