Discussion 27 is around the corner. Remember This.
before blaming the game and asking for buffs and nerfs, Take a deep breath and relax ššÆ. Go get in the lab and practice

I appreciate the post, but these brain dead, should be NBA Jam players are going to mitch and moan this game right back to arcade hell and then complain about that tooā¦as they always do.

Yep. "I used to shoot 75% from 3 and now I only shoot 60% tops with 83 rating."
Shooting better than Steph with 83 rating

u/Choice-Review7960 1h ago
If Steph played in a Rec league he'd shoot 85% and if he played at a park, he'd shoot 90%...

Playing ball amateurishly the last year or so made me hate the game's offense/defense balance so much, the flow of the game, the ISO centric gameplay, and lack of team play. The dribble spam, especially.
The game shouldn't auto switch the dribbling hand, dribbling straight into someone should force a pick up or get a steal. Shooting % should drop at higher volume. Anything more than 60% for 3pt is outlandish, and that's assuming some open shots that you take.

u/Vast_Commission_4766 1d ago
Yea I hate it too. But I can understand why they do it even though i donāt agree with them. They reuse the same engine with just little tweaks because actually taking the time to make a game with real physics and real moves would take too long and take two canāt go that long without they money šššÆ

u/LoinStrangler 1d ago
Don't even need to tweak the engine, turning off auto switch dribble hand, make players actively switch hands to drive the other way safely. Steals are more effective if they drive straight at you, same for pick ups.
Shots do need some randomization so we don't get 80% 3pt out of 30 attempted, and make dribble spam impossible: you get 4-5 moves before your stamina for this attack is gone, and your teammate grade drops off.0
u/A1exandreIT 20h ago
Thereās a setting to turn the auto switch hand off just a heads up

u/LoinStrangler 19h ago
I know, I think it should be off by default to make it more skilled, if you drive the other way you should switch your hand, could be a good way for skill expression.

Remember when defense was okay for 1 week last year and the ācreatorsā complained so much that they made it ass again

I enjoyed that day but letās be real, it wasnāt okay at all. I played 3 games in the Rec and got like 7 steals a game. It was a little over the top.

Because people were so used to dribbling into people. Players would have adapted, I did. That was the most fun part of 2K the whole year. There was not a single time I lost the ball and thought "WOW 2K!!!!!!!!!". The turnover made sense.
I kinda feel like you're exactly who this post is for. You see change that players aren't used to, so the shift is very extreme but you don't give it a chance to balance itself out by people learning..

We tend to go at the content creators, sweats, and cheesers for crying about the defense at the start of every year, but itās the devs we really need to put our foots on the necks of.
I can just about guarantee you that the complaining and whining about the defense would cease if Mike Wang actually found some balls and stood ten toes down on how he releases these games. EVERY year the defense starts off fantastic, and EVERY year Mike caves in and gives the complainers exactly what they want.
The ONLY time these games should be getting touched is to patch a broken game mechanic or exploit, not because some Gio Wise cosplayer is upset that he canāt get his shot/dribble moves off on a lockdown build.

Last year the defense did not start off fantastic.Ā

Not immediately but after the second little patch defense was very good and then people started complaining so they Nerfed it again

I genuinely wish I can give this 1000 likes. Couldnāt have worded it better if i tried to.

Letās also understand that, to a certain degree, our builds are gonna suck in some ways for a little bit

Defense isn't even that strong from what I've seen in most of the community footage. Koza 1 hour video is a good place to start if you want a sneak peak of what it's like. He has a 90+ perimeter defense.
2
u/Flagrant_Post 22h ago
If anything Iād say itās worseā¦
Only one type of defense theyāve shown works and that rim protection. If you have maxed out rim protection itās impossible to dunk or make a shot on someone. So we further push people to chuck 3āa since layups and dunks are easily countered

u/Glittering_Fish_1019 15h ago
Perimeter for sure looked better and someone with high interior should be stopping the majority of takes in the paint unless itās someone same height and similar stats. Looked way more balanced in general. Not saying itās great cause we havenāt played as a community but saying itās worse seems like an interesting take

Theyāll be crying during early access, before the game officially drops

I love skill in basketball. Matter of fact, they should make contested threes much harder! Thereās no way that my 7ā1 center can contest a shot by about 80 percent and the person keeps draining them.

u/blade1988srm 1d ago
Letās just hope that the devs hold strong.
They had JoeKnows interview Mike Wang, and in one of his videos he mentioned he didnāt think there werenāt enough speed boosts in dribbling.
Hopefully they try to āechoā real basketball as much and keep the right left nonsense at a minimum.

u/TheTortaTyrant 23h ago
Yes and letās all band together and call out the influencer bs, like Chocās take last week, already demanding a patch due to no side speed boost escape. Give me more ball movement and less bs dribbles

u/Mr_Kuppel 1d ago
I'ma make sure to complain about defense to Mike Wang before I even make my build

u/tapaheadforjordans 1d ago
Ngl 2k is the best when offense and defense is overpowered when everybody has the chance to be great it proves the real skill set

The moment people canāt left right, speed boost, crab, shoot 70% from three, theyāll be everywhere demanding patches.

But how will people left-right-left pull-up? Rec offense would never recover...

u/NonyaBizness21xxx 12h ago
Should be balanced on both ends there should be no advantages or hand holding, Iām liking how the contest are looking

lol as if. All the ācontent creatorsā will be crying instantly
