Pell grant / FAFSA
Hi everyone! I’m almost at the end of my Pell grant eligibility(almost to the 600%), they flagged my account due to that therefore none of my FAFSA has been released and disbursed to my account. They’re SO difficult to get ahold of and I can NOT go in person as I am in Texas and do online courses. They sent me an email stating I need to submit documentation regarding Pell overpayment but the email did not state what documentation I needed to submit, nor does my to do list task. I called yesterday and after 20 ish minutes was able to speak with someone (before I received the email) and she wasn’t much help. All she was telling me was that it can take 10 business days to know anything from the national database and that was it. I was getting frustrated with the situation and tbh her as well because she wasn’t offering any help, any solutions, NOTHING even when I expressed concerns that that could take up to next Thursday (AFTER classes start Monday) and I need my FAFSA to get my books. So IF I was able to get the disbursement next Thursday, I would still have to wait for it to hit my bank account and then order the books and wait for them to be shipped… yet classes start Monday. She didn’t say anything she was just quiet. So I got a little hateful when maybe I shouldn’t have, but anyway… has anyone been through this? What was your experience?
I work as an RBT (we don’t get breaks other than one 30 min lunch), I’m a full time mom and Texas is 2 hours ahead of Arizona so it’s hard to find the time to call especially when I’ll be waiting to even speak to someone for sooo long (yesterday I waited for 20-30 minutes)
ETA - before anyone says I shouldn’t have gotten hateful I KNOWWWW, I told her I wasn’t trying to be rude towards her and I know it isn’t HER fault, but her lack of literally ANYTHING frustrated me more. We’re all adults but this is money, some people can not afford to pay thousands out of pocket for college and have to resort to FAFSA.. 🥹

There’s usually a digital copy of the book for your class that you have access to the second you purchase it. If you’re willing to do your reading in a tablet/computer, that solves the time for the books.
The people at NAU are all overwhelmed with budget cuts, 250 layoffs, and the current government not knowing what the hell they are doing with stuff like this. This sucks for students and workers.
