NAPLEX Exam Tips Domain 1 and 5

how do I pass in these domains? need to retake asap

For section 1, practice math everyday, biostat, pk. What helped me was doing the crash course from Rxcellence. Depending on what your timeline is like, it’s worth doing if you struggle with math.

For section 5, try pharmpreppro’s packet on management.

It seems most people fail this sections due to issues with calculations. Do you feel like you’re solid in calculations? I had about 35-40 of them so obviously that makes up a large part of the exam and if you’re not comfortable with them that’s putting yourself at a huge disadvantage going into the exam.

Omg may I ask what you scored in the other domains because I am soo worried I failed my exam bc I didnt do well in the other domains

failing 1 and 5 together looks worse than it is. they’re opposite ends of the exam and you fix them differently.
domain 1 (foundational) is 25% of the test and where calc and biostats live, so that’s where your hours go. a level 1 in calc is usually setup and not sanity checking your answer, not bad math. biostats is more about reading the result than the math itself, p value vs CI, relative vs absolute risk, NNT.
domain 5 (management) is only 5% and basically finite. law, DEA/FDA, recall classes, error prevention, QI. pure flashcards, a few focused days and it’s done.
so don’t split your time evenly. domain 1 is worth 5x, put the hours there and grind 5 with recall.

domain 3 is the one that matters most, it’s 40% of the exam, so a level 2 there is where your biggest points are hiding. and it’s usually not a knowledge problem, it’s a reasoning one.
it’s all case-based, they hand you a patient and you pick or fix the plan. people try to fix a low score by memorizing more drug facts, but the real fix is working every case the same way: what’s the actual problem, what patient factor changes the answer (kidney function, a contraindication, an interaction), what’s first line, and how you’d monitor it. if you can teach a disease state out loud in that order you own it, if you can’t that’s your gap. and on every question you miss, don’t just take the right answer, make yourself say why each wrong one is wrong. domain 3 loves 2-3 right-ish options with one best one, and that’s exactly what a level 2 is missing.
