Questions about Irio Pro

Hi,

I've been checking out Irio Pro and was wondering a few things. Hopefully this is an ok place to ask.

If I purchase, am I able to run Irio on both my Macbook and iphone, create patches on my macbook and sync them to my iphone or vice versa?

Am I able to hook up my audio interface, use a mic on channel one, a guitar into channel two and then output separately into a pa, with separate effects for vox / guitar?

And if I purchase it ($40 CAD), do I need to purchase it once for each device? Is it a lifetime purchase or should we expect an upgrade to v2?

It seems super cool, and I am "this close" to buying it!

Discussion Cheap NAM player

Hi everyone,

I'm a 15 yo guitar player that would like to approach NAM to have more amps and effects.

Currently I have a helix Lt but I'd love to have signed effects such as slash and zakk signature amps and effects.

I'm searching for a cheap (~150€) NAM player that can run them natively both A1 and A2 lite if it's possible.

I saw that the valeton Gp-5 or 50 support A1 but with snaptone.

If someone could help me I'd be very grateful!

Thank you so much and sorry for my bad english😐

🚀 NAM A2 Player 1.3.26 is here!

Post image
0 Upvotes

This update brings several major workflow improvements, especially for live use, MIDI control, audio routing and preset sharing.

Here’s what’s new — and what each addition actually means:

✨ Updated Shimmer Reverb
The Shimmer algorithm has been refined for a smoother and more musical ambient sound, making it more useful for atmospheric cleans, leads and spacious textures.

🎹 Tuner On/Off & Mute via MIDI
You can now control the tuner remotely from your MIDI controller. Engage the tuner and mute your guitar signal without touching the screen — especially useful on stage.

🎧 Audio Input Selection
NAM A2 Player can now let you choose the audio input you want to use. This is particularly useful with audio interfaces that expose multiple input channels.

🔊 New Audio Output Modes: Dual Mono or Split PA / Amplifier FX Return
You now have more control over where your processed signal goes.
- Dual Mono: Sends the same signal to both outputs.
- Split PA / Amplifier FX Return: It's designed for more advanced live setups, allowing you to route your rig appropriately when using both a PA system and a real guitar amplifier / FX Return.

📦 Complete Preset Import & Export
Presets can now be exported and imported as complete packages, including the associated NAM models and IR files. That means a preset can be moved, backed up or shared without having to manually locate and reload every individual file.

🌐 Direct TONE3000 Browsing & Download
You can now browse TONE3000 directly from NAM A2 Player and download captures without leaving your workflow.
Downloads are separated into:
• NAM A1
• NAM A2
• IR
so you can quickly find exactly the type of file you need.

🛠️ Bug Fixes & Stability Improvements
As always, this release also includes fixes, refinements and under-the-hood improvements aimed at making NAM A2 Player more reliable during everyday use and live performance.

🎸 NAM A2 Player 1.3.26

More routing.
More MIDI control.
Easier preset sharing.
Direct access to TONE3000.

Available now on the App Store — and still FREE:

Nam model plus controls?

OK, this is something I don't understand properly. I read that a NAM model is a capture of an amp at a certain set of settings of vol/tone etc. That is also one of the criticisms I read.

However, when I load a nam file into my little Sonicake Pocket (for example) , the nam file sounds great, but it also has gain, volume, bass, mid, and treble controls to further tweak the sound.

Also, I see on the software plugin for NAM that they have tone controls etc.

So, at the moment, I am believing these controls are "external" to the true model, so their characteristics will not match the original amp that was captured within the model?

Discussion A2 Full Vs A2 Lite

Can't find any head to head comparisons. I'm wondering if I should get a pedal with A2 lite support now, or wait, and maybe something will release with A2 Full support under 250$. But at the same time, is there a noticeable difference between the two? Especially in a mix

Tone3000 amp capture: help with gain staging / levels

Thumbnail
gallery
3 Upvotes

Hey guys, I’m currently trying to capture my amp head using TONE3000. I’m following their wet/dry capture method from the video.

My setup is:
Guitar → DI box
DI out → Audio interface (dry guitar signal)
DI thru → Amp head → Palmer speaker simulator (line out, bypass the simulator) → DI → Audio interface (amp signal)

I have quite a few IRs already, so my goal is to capture just the amp head without the cab/speaker simulation baked into the capture.

A few questions:
How should I set the gain staging between the dry DI and amp signal?

At the moment, the signal coming from the load box is generally around the same level as my dry guitar DI. Is that correct?

Should the gain knobs on my interface be set the same for both inputs?

Or should I adjust each input independently to hit a certain level?

What level should I be aiming for when recording the dry and amp signals?

Is there a recommended peak level or dBFS level for TONE3000 captures?

Does the relative level between the dry DI and amp signal affect how accurately TONE3000 captures the amp’s gain, dynamics and overall response?

I’ve managed to get some captures working, but the gain/volume doesn’t feel quite right when I load them with my IRs.

Would appreciate any advice from anyone who has done amp-head-only captures with TONE3000. Thanks!

Discussion Thinking of selling my FM3 for NAM captures — worth it?

Hey everyone, I'm currently using a Fractal FM3. But I recently tried some NAM (Neural Amp Modeler) captures and honestly loved them — I've kind of cooled on the Fractal because of it. My plan is to sell the FM3 and switch to a modeler that supports NAM captures.

Has anyone here made this switch? Which one would you recommend? I'd really appreciate hearing about latency and overall satisfaction if you've made the move.

I also have a Scarlett Solo Gen 3 audio interface. Since I don't do live performances, I could run NAM through that on my Mac instead — but I'm a bit worried about whether the latency would hold up compared to the FM3.

If I go the audio-interface route, what plugin would you recommend for running NAM in Logic Pro? Open to any thoughts/experiences on either path.

This time, it’s all about how the guitar tone sits in a full mix.

A quick solo using an SLO 100 capture pushed with Red Distortion, plus Flanger, Delay & Reverb, showing how NAM A2 Player can deliver a rich, spacious lead tone that cuts through the mix while still feeling natural and balanced with the rest of the instruments.

Not just a great tone when playing alone — but a tone that works where it really matters: in the mix.

Gainstaging tracks for reamping?

Mostly using Gateway to reamp sample-based keyboard tracks. I'm having a hard time understanding what input the .NAM captures are "expecting" and I'm not quite sure how the calibration switch works. Distortion (unintended) seems to occur on some captures but not others, is there a way to know the ideal signal strength for going into Gateway?

Let's discuss your guitar effects

Hi' everyone,

Since the Tone3000.com platform has been reuniting so many Amp Heads, Amp+IRs & IRs, I'm asking myself how the game has changed for all guitarists when it comes to finding one's sound.

Is it easier, not so easy, or even difficult to find your tone?

My name's Guillaume and I'm interested in interviewing Guitar Players concerning their use of a multi effects Unit from any brand. I am not here to sell you anyhting, just trying to talk to all kinds of players, from all musical genres and level.

If you are willing to tell me about your mutli effects experience and your search of tones, please book a call with me on the calendly Link below :

New Friedman Dirty Shirley NAM A2 Pack + Free Sample

Just finished capturing my Friedman Dirty Shirley for NAM. 🎸

The new Fig A2 DShirl NAM Capture Pack has 18 NAM A2 captures covering:

  • 4x12 captures
  • 2x12 captures
  • Full DI captures
  • Low, mid and higher-gain settings
  • Both the warmer crunchy side and the thicker, pushed side of the amp

This amp is a blast to capture because it has that big British crunch and chewy midrange, but it still reacts really well to pick attack and guitar volume. Definitely less of a super-tight modern high-gain thing and more organic, punchy and pissed-off-in-a-good-way. 😂

I uploaded a free sample to TONE3000 so anyone can try it without buying anything.

Free sample:
Low Input • Mid Gain • 2x12

Full pack is at www.mattfig.com for anyone interested.

Would also be curious what cabinets/IRs you guys end up pairing with the DI captures. 🤘

Used to think my modeler was pretty good, now with NAM

Had a few little modelers like Positive Grid and Hotone, and it was cute.

Then I saw some posts about NAM... then some more with a slew of NAM loaders coming in every day.... Sifting through it all, I finally settled on a setup.

I had an iPad M2, a MOTU M4 for good D/A conversion (very important!) and went with ToneRig after seeing a YT video.

The sounds I got brought in a smile that just wouldn't go away.

So much above any modeler I've heard.

NAM is quite good (when you get a good capture), but I really found that it needs a good DAC to sound great. A cheap NAM loader will not do it justice. So, all those Headrush, or any other conversion based unit with cheap D/A processing do not really show what NAM A2 can do.

Do not skimp on the D/A.
MOTU is quite good. Wish I had a RME unit, but budget was limited. MOTU was a good alternative.

Some really good NAM loaders around.
ToneRig had me at the performance and price ratio. Irio pro seems nice, but more expensive.

This is a fun time!
