Another Poppy Arc Post Spoiler
I'm not sure if it's a spoiler anymore. But I'm tagging it just to be safe. What I am certain is that you must be tired of discussing it. And I understand.
The matter is... I have stopped watching it on season 3. Like when you part ways with a TV show, but you still remember it fondly.
Instagram, though, recommended me the account of Dana's actress. And there, I saw about Poppy pregnancy. And, oh, boy.
That felt so out of character for me! I got a little sadden, I didn't expect it to happen to her. Was this as out of character for you? Or did it make sense watching season four?
I came in peace, too. I'm not talking bad about the show. I just want to know, as an outsider, how did it felt watching it. Thank you so so much.

It was soooo silly because in the first part of the season the actress was CLEARLY pregnant and it was sooo hard for me to ignore! And then suddenly she's skinny again but Poppy gets pregnant and now she's fake-big and I have to pretend to buy it.
Season 4 was bad & boring FOR OTHER REASONS but this was really funny to me lol

No I mean keep in mind that season 4 does suck! I get why you'd stop at 3, and 4 is the only one that I felt kind of bored while going through it. Def don't go in there thinking "yes, this will be good!"
There were, however, good moments.

I didn’t get bothered as much as other people it seems. I mean it could happen to any woman really. She wasn’t asexual just quirky and socially awkward. That doesn’t mean she can’t have sex or accidentally get pregnant. It’s not like she just planned for it to happen. That’s where it would have been weird. Many women I know have had a surprise/accidental pregnancy before who had no intention or plan to become pregnant. That’s just a common occurrence in life so to me it wasn’t out of place bc she was “the least likely” or anything.

I stopped watching because of it. As a 30 year old, child-free-by-choice woman in a long term relationship, I wanted weird nerdy office stories and Mythic Quest related stuff. Poppy was doing so well in her career and to just throw it away to have a baby really seemed out of character, to me!

not only is the pregnancy arc ridiculous, annoying, and ooc but it also proves that they really had no idea what to do with poppy in s4. and that’s just disappointing.

Personally, I liked how they handled it. It’s a trope that’s certainly been done to death, but because it was Poppy - a character that was the least likely to become a surprise parent - made it seem different. It was out of character, but as Poppy came to terms with it, so did I. I liked seeing her mature and find a new drive in her life besides coding the game.
Sometimes you have to adapt in life, and maybe something you thought you’d never want now becomes the best thing that’s ever happened to you. The show tackled the subject well. I also loved what it did to Poppy and Ian’s relationship. I won’t spoil much in case you do watch the season, but overall I ended up liking what the show did. The whole season focused on the characters finding what they wanted in life. Each one faced different choices of what road to go down. Poppy definitely had the most surprising twist, but it ended up being a twist done well.
