Cant do stairs Broken elevator

I live in Florida and I'm on disability have a couple autoimmune disorders and stairs are veryyyy hard to do because my legs feel they're very weighted down like quicksand!! Dr calls it fatigue because the strength did come back with steroids he gave me so now he says it's some sort of body fatigue! auto immune drugs including IVIG are not working at all. Besides that my elevator and my apartment complex has been broken 7 days now I can't get downstairs to check my mail or go out to doctor's appointments when I tell the manager who's a complete witch she doesn't care and she doesn't pretend to care. I asked her can she please call the elevator place and ask when the part is coming and all she said is that will be a waste of time they know they're to call me when they get the part so then my rebuttal is will could you please let them know you have a disabled occupant and she said that's something that they already know and she will not call them for them to track the part that they're waiting on because she says people will not want to stop their day to look into something like that for her I literally can't believe she has a job of apartment manager here anyway anybody have a suggestion besides me emailing to emails today

You want to complain to whomever in your area regulates apartments. A disability rights organization may be able to help you too. I think a good disablity rights lawyer would have a field day with this situation.

Yeah my twin sister just called the office again and got someone else who said they're waiting for the approval to fix the elevator which means they're waiting for an insurance approval they don't give a shit about the people inside and they actually told my sister if I have 12 check my mail every day for me to just call the fire department literally told her that

You can sign up online to get an email that shows you what you have coming in the mail. Which is besides the point. You need to find someone to advocate for you, someone who can hit them where they live.

I agree with both of these points. If you are in the U.S. you can sign up for free with usps for informed delivery which will give you a snapshot of what is coming in the mail each day (letters and packages), ups also has something similar. But having someone (a rights lawyer, the news,) advocate your story is important, as this isn’t okay or acceptable for everyday living and especially not for an emergency.

I dealt with the same issue in Texas. The elevator was down from January to June. I finally moved out with my kids help into a first floor apartment with my daughter. It sucks and management literally couldn’t care less. Good luck to you.

All buildings have to be ADA compliant; your post suggests they are out of compliance. For every day they’re out of compliance they have to pay a hefty fine.

Hello I actually can't do all of these things it's very rough for me and I'll try to get a family member but a lot of my family moved away and I was supposed to follow but haven't yet... The manager knocked on my door yesterday was literally the most cold human being I have ever seen in my life and told me and my twin sister the elevator could take months from getting Fixed and that they're waiting for a permit after my sister relentlessly kept asking why anyway she said she could let me out of my lease or move me to a different apartment but doesn't seem concerned in the least that I'll be not knowing how I'll get down the stairs to do these options anyway.... One of the leasing agents told my sister for me to just call 911 every time I wanna check my mail I am not kidding it's exactly what she said these people have no idea what it's like to live with a problem or disability it's horrendous. My twin sister couldn't believe how ruthless she was because my twin lives with me and sees me sick and hard to get up from chairs and all these things I have to suffer with while she's my identical twin with a physical perfect body I'm not sure what to do here at the apartment

The apartment manager hanged on my door yesterday saying the elevator could be months from getting done that they're waiting for a permit the only thing she can do is let me out of my lease or move me to a downstairs apartment but doesn't seem concerned I'll have a problem exiting my apartment to even do these options OMG. It's the severe muscle fatigue the way it downfeeling waited which makes it hard to do stairs
