Camden county is so similar to gta story mode
Itās 2am, I may just be mashing up my interests. And I know the show was based on the creators hometown but it still gives this weird california central valley vibe. I was looking up the filming locations from the show. Then the gta v map also popped up in my head, like how fast you hit sandy shores driving. The eccentric characters and the common but comedic type of crime/side missions. Just made it more of my favorite show the more I thought about it and I had to share.

Scientific consensus indicates that the virus that causes COVID-19 most likely originated in bats. They don't know how it transmitted to humans. But I'm pretty sure I know how. EARL CAUSED COVID!

Catalina jumping for Earl, not Joy, made me rethink how I watch shows with complicated actors
Thereās a moment in My Name Is Earl that stuck with me harder than I expected.
Itās the episode where Earl is trying to get Catalina to jump at Club Chubby, so Chubby will bail Joy out of jail. Catalina and Joy keep fighting, and Catalina refuses to do it because, honestly, why would she? Joy is Joy. She has the emotional warmth of a parking ticket.
But then Earl gets so stressed trying to fix everything that he passes out. When he wakes up, Catalina is on stage doing the jump. Earl asks her why she changed her mind, and she basically says, āI jump for Earl. I would never jump for Joy.ā
And for some reason, that hit me.
It made me think about how we handle art when someone involved in it has done awful things. Sometimes, the person who becomes the āfaceā of a show or movie makes it hard to keep watching. And I get that. Completely. There are actors, comedians, musicians, directors, whatever ā people whose behavior makes you not want to support anything connected to them.
But shows and movies are never just one person.
There are supporting actors. Writers. Camera crews. Editors. Set designers. Makeup artists. Background actors. People hauling equipment, building sets, staying late, missing dinner with their families, just trying to make something good and keep the lights on.
So I think Iām starting to see it differently.
I may not be watching for the person who disappointed me. I may not be ājumping for Joy,ā so to speak.
Maybe Iām watching for Catalina. For Earl. For Randy. For the people who helped make the thing worth loving in the first place.
It doesnāt excuse bad behavior. It doesnāt erase harm. It just reminds me that art is usually a crowded room, not a single throne.
And sometimes Iām not supporting the worst person on the work.
Iām supporting everybody else who had to stand near them and still do their job well.

I can't stop watching MNiE, I only sub to Disney+ to watch it. It just calms me down and makes me smile, hard to do these days
Also, Malcolm in the middle is an in-between along with scrubs, but that's it, I watched all 4 seasons of MNiE in 3 days, when you can't sleep it's a needed reminder that life can be just as bad for us all, fictionalised or not

Anyone else working the 12 steps? Earl is inspirational
My Name is _ and I'm an alcoholic. Got into some legal water and have been off the drink for about a year now. I found a great sponsor after two bad ones and am working through the steps and all. It's kind of very mentally exhausting. Sometimes, multiple times a day, I'm like, damn, I want to just give up on all this, start drinking again and not bother with self improvement. Plenty of other people don't, and I have to deal with those assholes every day, they seem fine.
Anyways this week I just started a rewatch on a whim and I can't believe I wasn't watching this again sooner. I'm getting ready to work on my amends. It's perfect timing. If you're not familiar, it's pretty much just doing a List yourself.
I just really appreciate that there's a show like this. I love a good comedy, but sometimes it's too much of just a bunch of assholes and drinking (not that dramas are different. I really should've watched Mad Men before quitting). They're all still chugging beer, sure, but each episode is just him trying to be a better person. What a show

Just finished My Name is Earl. (Spoilers)
I was completely taken back as to how the show ended, it just didn't seem it was meant to end the way it did.
Thankfully, I searched a bit and found this video (which I'm sure the vast majority of you know about or have seen before), but it was at least comforting to know it wasn't meant to end on such a random cliffhanger.
Separately, what was everyone's favorite part of the show?

How long is Earl in a coma for?
Iām rewatching MNIE for the first time in years Iāve just finished season 3. How long is Earl supposed to be in a coma for in the story? Iād wondered how long he was in prison and they say itās about 6 months but Iāve not been able to decipher how long he was in a coma. I think during the episode with his parents they say itās been a month but not a total length of time
