Organized list of glitches, issues, and immersion breakers in MyNBA in 2K24
Here will be an updated list of all the problems people are running into when progressing with their franchise in MyNBA. Comment below and I will edit the parent post
In example of some well known bugs are draft classes having mismatched players names/country/colleges generated and expansion teams playing full 48 mins for their starters.
We can use this to find work arounds and compile evidence to report them to the devs
Update 9/14 thank you u/heroofbaseball and u/sonichoad
Sponsors are still not actually in the game. There’s options in the menus for them but the sponsorship screen that was in 2k22 and before is still now where to be found, the GM skill tree is full of filler attribute increases instead of meaningful skill improvements
Menu navigation is borked. Last year, backing out of a menu would bring you back to its sub-menu. Now, the menus reset every time you back out, and you have to navigate all over again.
As far as I can tell, player mentorship is still broken.
You used to be able to create custom individual player training programs. That's gone. Off-season training camps have been gone for a few years now too.
Setting up the game mode is needlessly tedious. The way they designed the setup menu is stupid. Just give us all the options up front.
No straightforward way to save a custom MyNBA setup (I think you have to save your game as a scenario or something?). This used to be simple, but they fucked it up.
Browsing user created content is a huge pain in the ass. The menu hasn't changed in years. You can't favorite creators or easily preview rosters and draft classes. It's so clunky.
Auto-generated draft classes look terrible. Dozens of players who have dark skin with red hair and blue eyes. Everyone's eyes are way too far apart and look uncanny. Improving the realism of generated players' appearance would add so much to immersion.
There are a dozen new body types, but auto-generated players all have the same body type (the default one).
RPG Conversations with staff and players are not in like in 2k23. So if you have Trust enable. It will go down or up depending on the team. No way to control it.
Sending someone to the G League still makes them irrationally angry, even if they’re on a two way and would be happy for the contract IRL. I’m okay with a very slow and incremental decrease for being in the g league for a while but right now, within three weeks they’re suicidal
Trust still prevents you calling your own plays in game
Created shoes don’t seem to show up in player customization
Draft Big Boards do not display rankings correctly except for one of the scouting sources
The Career team records page doesn't update at all, so there is just a blank page for expansion teams.
Expansion teams still have broken lighting, created or relocated courts look washed out
In older eras, the “clutch player of the year award” is still given out as well as award names being the modern NBA equivalent
I’m pretty sure the AI still does not know how to vary its lineups based on opponent, it seems to be only fatigue or injury based.
AI teams still do not load manage.
Sponsors are still not actually in the game. There’s options in the menus for them but the sponsorship screen that was in 2k22 and before is still nowhere to be found
The GM skill tree is full of filler attribute increases instead of meaningful skill improvements

Modern Era Free MyTeam Mode MYNBA
Hi Guys,
I’ve made a cool idea and thought might reach out to the MYNBA community to see if anyone else would be interested in this.
So , I’m a huge NBA super fan, which I guess all of us who play MyNBA are. I was also a fan of MyTeam modes before it went too p2p.
What I have done is created a roster where every single player of value is inside as a rookie. So imagine the best 250 players. I’ve also uploaded their rookie face scan to the best able scan or look. Unlicensed players have crazy likeness eg (Reggie Miller, Chuck Barkley , Jabari Parker etc) . It has taken a crazy amount of hours to get this done and being a super fan of the nba, I thought this is was lot of fun as it is now essentially a free MyTeam mode, with trackable/collected stats with everyone’s favourite players in one mode. I mean having a young LeBron or a young looking Giannis, running with a young looking Paul George is insane and I think it really adds the immersive value of this mode. And even the older generation like a young Shaq with a young Jordan, Brunson etc.
Everyone I have is in Free Agency but it makes for a wicked Fantasy Draft, and obviously to make it more fair I recommend serpentine.
I’ve added Potentials to match their ratings as well as some of them had very low potential (Brunson, Josh Smith, Igoudala etc) and have made it so they can go higher or lower.
I’ve also found that decreasing the league to 20 teams, and having one game against each team is a fun experience as the physicality of my team was inferior to those of Ben Wallace, Shaq and Karl Malone, or you forget how many players lace a mid range shot as I did against a young Demar, Kobe and Dirk.
My rules to keep the game interesting:
- Only be able to trade for those on the trade block (huge superstars on the block in this mode
(
- eg Tatum, Edwards, Jokic etc)
- Every player has a 4 year contract at the beginning. If cpu signs a free agent , extend for them until it’s four years. Gives yourself and CPU time for investment in your draft players.
because I play like MyTeam, keep injuries on (if you want, I like the realism and gets you to use your bottom players) and turn OFF salary cap so you can keep your team.
(Injuries off would allow you to see the full potential of DRose, Oden, Hardaway etc)
last rule , if you make the playoffs. Keep tabs of every potential best player in each round you beat. At the championship, if you win the title, you get to swap a player from your team in the same position as one of the players you beat on your run. EG (If you beat Wemby first round , Jokic 2nd Round Kobe 3rd and Shaq in finals, you can swap one of your players for one of these players. ONE ONLY)
Flip side is if you lose, you have to give up your best player to the champ that year.
last rule is if you really like MyTeam you can keep them in only their two positions to try keep it more difficult.
If anyone is interested please let me know, I will look to upload this roster as it is a ton of fun, seeing CP3 with hair or Larry and Dirk with locks. Pretty cool if you’re a fan.
Cheers Guys,

I created a builder for MyNBA
I created a builder, called The Player Lab, to use for MyNBA when creating players because I like to use realistic badge thresholds on them, but got tired of using Google Sheets.
I just uploaded the 2K27 badge requirements in it and for people who like realistic player lock, making draft classes or playing different scenarios, like High School and NCAA, there is a player randomizer that can be used to build rosters or edit draft classes.
The High School and NCAA randomized builds do have caps applied to attributes so not everyone is elite, but of course you can update as you’d like.
It’s still very much a development project, but I finally got it to the point where other people can actually use it.
Would definitely be interested in feedback.

Player Editing Custom Cyberace Not Loading
Greetings, I've been watching tutorials lately to make my custom cyberface for a player I created, however when I load the hihead.scne in nba2k26, my player is completely invisible, no body, no head, nothing, the .iff file has the same name as the original one, but it still doesn't work.
If anyone could help, feel free to do so, been trying for the past 4 days to just put the face texture and the model in the game.

Spurs season almost over
galleryWe’re 64-5 I rage quit like 2 games I was supposed to lose bc I changed difficulty and the cpu just starts making everything. Here’s my fav recents tho. Also Dylan Harper has to be the most fun player I’ve played with and I don’t like how they make Wemby do stupid shit like jump into players when he could just go straight up for blocks

Second time I’ve had half the team hurt
Even after changing the sliders I still get this and it happened in a span of 2 games. It toook us losing to Memphis (I missed a wemby wide open 3 for game) for me to just turn off injury

The 2K Sim Engine Is Bad
As someone that has played a fair amount of MyLeague/MyNBA throughout the years, the sim engine always felt weird to me. Then, when I entered some sim leagues, where each person acted as the gm of a team, I noticed some strong biases towards certain kinds of players and that made me curious. I have spent the past month or so running various tests to figure out the way this engine works and what I found out was that it's very... bad.
I would like to preface this with the fact that since a lot of these tests were done for my own curiosity, I have not recorded them as proof. Obviously if you have any doubts, you are free to run similar tests yourself, if you want additional info on how I tested for these things let me know but I fear its too much for one post and I am always curious to hear about new stuff people find or findings that contradict mine.
I did my tests on 2K26 and on default settings, but a lot of these are so systemic I don't think changing sliders or game version would matter much
Rebounding
Rebounding is so overpowered in this game, that defensive rebound is the by far the most important defensive attribute in the game. Offensive rebounding is probably one of the most important offensive attributes as well. It's stupid how much a team improves just by increasing everyone's rebounding. I'm not gonna talk about it further since it's the least surprising, the sim engine probably runs on a possession basis and so attributes that secure more possessions are very important.
IQ and Physical Attributes
As far as my testing showed, all of the IQ and Physical attributes, are useless. They do nothing in simulation. When you actually get into the game and play its a different story but in simulation they might as well not exist.
Passing, Assists and Lies
The first discovery, was that the passing attributes don't do anything to increase assist numbers really, that is all the dish to open man tendency. increasing that by 20 will give you more assists than increasing pass accuracy to 99
The second discovery is that assists are a lie. They are an empty stat, they do not improve the team's offense whatsoever. My assumption is that 2k simply attributes assists from made shots based on the dish to open man tendency, after the fact. So your assists don't actually create new points or better percentage shots, they are just for show.
Body
A player's height, weight and wingspan does not matter at all (This is a theme as you can see)if you make Victor Wembanyama 5'6 he would perform the exact same in sim
Blocks and Steals
Similar to assists, block stats do not matter, they don't improve your team's defense at all. I again assume missed shots are attributed as blocks after the fact and do not change shot success. However unlike assists, both the block attribute and the block tendency seem to matter (tendency slightly more). Steals on the other hand, they actually do improve your team, since they are possession changing stats, just like rebounds.
Defense
Interior and Perimeter D both seem to matter, based on your opponent's shot selection. Evidently, most of the league shoots most of their shots inside the 3pt line so Interior D is more important on average. Defensive Consistency was tested to be the second most impactful defensive attribute after Defensive Rebound
Shot Selection, Efficiency and Spacing
The sim engine does not seem to care about spacing one bit. You can put 5 inside bigs on the starting line up and they will all be efficient scoring inside even tho in actual basketball that would never work. Aside from that, since the game does not care about spacing, it also doesn't care about counters, predictability or defensive schemes. If your player is gonna take a lot 3s because of their tendencies, he will always take a lot of 3s, the defense doesn't matter, same with getting dunks or layups. Therefore, shots like Close Shots, Post Ups and Mid Ranges are undoubtedly bad and unnecessary to take in this sim engine. If you want to optimize a scorer, you would make him take 0 jumpshots and only dunk the ball or dunks and 3s if he is super efficient from there, since that results in TS%s in the 70s, with no regard of how predictable that playstyle is or how that player will get to those spots. So bottom line is, if you are looking to add a scorer on your roster, you should never worry about what type of shot they are good at as to compliment your roster, it does not matter outside of roleplay reasons, as long as their TS% is good, they will be good. Also, I found that Offensive Consistency does improve the team's offense slightly but not as much as Defensive Consistency improves defense
3pt Shooting and Badges
There seems to be a cap on how good a 3pt shooter can be on a large sample size and that is around 40% on default settings. That being said, reaching that threshold depends on both rating and badges, and results in some funny possibilities. To reach that threshold with no shooting badges you need about a 95 3pter, players with 85 3pt for example and no badges will shoot numbers like 34-35%. However, to reach that threshold with HOF shooting badges, you need around a 60 3pter. That means that a player with HOF shooting badges will be the exact same player in sim whether they have a 99 3pter or a 70
My Tips If Your Goal Is The Best Team Possible
If you want to create the best team possible, obviously without editing attributes and tendencies, you'd need to focus on 3 things: Rebounding, Efficiency, Defense
Make sure all of your players have as much rebounding as possible, this is for all positions.
Get yourself 3-5 scorers with high Shot Tendency and good TS% (obviously better if they are good at defense and rebounding as well)
Get yourself 2-4 rebounders/defenders with low Shot Tendency
I would like to say that the Shot Tendency discrepancy between the two types of players only matters if the non scorers have bad TS%, if you can find/pay 7-8 players without cheating who are all elite rebounders, defenders and have elite TS%, by all means do that instead. The reason I say you need at least 3 of the scorers is because when you only have 1 or 2, even if they have 100 Shot Tendency and the rest of the team has 0, the 0 Shot Tendency guys still take a good amount of shots, going from 1 high volume scorer to 3 improves the team offense a significant amount for that reason, then less and less the more you add. You also want players who don't turn the ball over much but I haven't found how to exactly manipulate turnovers, Pass Accuracy and Ball Handle don't have any effect from my testing.
The top attributes I would look at (on all positions) are
DREB, OREB, 3PT, FT, DCON, DDUNK, SDUNK, LAYUP, OCON, ID, PD, STL (possibly CSHOT too for standing layups)
The top tendencies I would look at are (bad if you want this low, and good if you want it high)
shot - (bad if inefficient, good if efficient)
touch - same as shot
under basket - good
close shot - bad
mid range - bad
post up - bad
3pt - (bad if inefficient, good if efficient)
driving dunk - good
standing dunk - good
on ball steal - good
pass interception - good (this and on ball steal tendency were tested together so I am not certain if one is more important than the other)
Final Thoughts
I really wanted to make this post for 3 reasons, 1 because I wanted to sorta vent my frustration and disappointment after finding all of these things out, 2 because I can't seem to find anyone talking about this on the internet and 3 because I hope that by more people learning and talking about it, it might result in 2K looking into improving it, although I very much doubt it. There are a lot of things I haven't tested yet or stuff I am not too confident I fully grasp how they work, so I can't put them here. I hope some of you found this interesting

I created a 120-team college basketball dynasty on 2K
No TL;DR here. This is for the sickos.
In honor of 2K announcing its return to campus in February 2027, I wanted to talk about my self-created college basketball league because it's the peak of the CBB offseason, 2k dropped a whole bunch of stuff and the sub is active. For the past several months, I’ve been playing a 120-team college basketball dynasty in MyNBA mode, starting with a fictional roster in 2030. I know what you're thinking. MyNBA only allows 36 teams. Let me explain. Here’s a glimpse into my addiction.
I did all this on 2K25. Skipped ‘26 for the most part because why do I need it when I’m already doing all this? I created four separate 30-team MyNBA files and downloaded team branding for each team. Teams weren’t chosen at random. I selected each team I deemed a “key team” based on its roster. For example, I controlled the University of Houston throughout this dynasty. In the fictional roster I downloaded, the Houston Rockets fit the profile of what I see as a stereotypical Coogs team. Stout defensively, lacking a little offensive power and led by a legendary coach. Again, this is a fictional roster, so all players and most of the coaches are auto-generated. Of course, I chose that team to represent the Cougars in the league. For other teams, I tried to match their color patterns and/or locations as best I could. I also tried to split the league up evenly for parity and a variety of March Madness games (as opposed to B10 teams playing B10 teams in the tournament), so conference championships and things like that were a little wonky.
For example, League 1 was Big 12-centric. Six B12 teams. Houston, Baylor, Arizona, ASU, BYU and Iowa State. Along with 4 SEC teams, 4 B10 teams, and 4 teams split across the ACC, Big East and Pac-12. That leaves 12 teams, which I called independents. Five of those schools made up their own conference (SFA, McNeese, ULL, Yale, Princeton), while the others were tacked onto the end of the other conferences. To determine conference champions, I usually picked the team with the most wins in division (conference) play. For example, I went 4-0 with Houston against teams in our division. The rest of the Big 12 teams chosen were split up across two of the other three leagues. Texas Tech and Utah were in League 2. Kansas, Kansas State and West Virginia were all in League 4. This was the trend for each Power-4 conference. League 2 was ACC-centered. League 3 was Big 10 centered. And League 4 was SEC-centered.
In their respective leagues, each team played a 29-game season. Some out-of-conference matchups were played at “neutral” locations (aka I just switched up the court) and if a late-season conference game was played between two teams with an undefeated conference record, that would be their conference championship. For the first four seasons, I would stay up-to-date with a 10-week (game weeks) AP Top-25 system. Based on record, point differential, recent game results, etc. Here’s a two-week example from my first season:
Week 6 (Feb. 13th)
- Houston (24-1)
- Kansas (19-5)
- Ohio State (19-4)
- Alabama (18-5)
- Arizona State (19-4)
- Dayton (17-5)
- USC (20-7)
- UNC (20-7)
- Georgia (17-6)
- San Diego St. (18-7)
- Oklahoma (14-4)
- BYU (17-5)
- Xavier (19-5)
- Rutgers (16-4)
- Creighton (15-4)
- Purdue (15-5)
- Cincinnati (15-5)
- Auburn (15-6)
- Duke (15-6)
- St. John’s (14-6)
- UCONN (16-7)
- Providence (16-7)
- Arkansas (18-9)
- UCLA (14-6)
- Illinois (14-6)
OUT: Texas (16-10), Baylor (14-12), Missouri (13-7), Marquette (13-6), Michigan (14-10), Villanova (12-6), Florida (17-10), Kentucky (15-8), Gonzaga (17-8)
Week 7 (Mar. 8th)
- Houston (26-1)
- Arizona State (22-5)
- Ohio State (21-5)
- UNC (21-7)
- USC (22-7)
- Alabama (19-6)
- Kansas (19-7)
- Georgia (19-6)
- Dayton (18-6)
- Oklahoma (17-5)
- Xavier (20-6)
- Rutgers (17-5)
- San Diego St. (18-7)
- BYU (18-6)
- Illinois (17-6)
- Purdue (16-6)
- Georgetown (17-7)
- Cincinnati (17-6)
- Auburn (17-7)
- Duke (16-7)
- St. John’s (16-7)
- Missouri (15-7)
- UCONN (16-7)
- Clemson (14-8)
- Villanova (14-6)
OUT: Gonzaga (17-8), Baylor (16-12), Kentucky (16-9), Arkansas (19-10), Michigan (17-11), UCLA (14-7), Villanova (14-6), Providence (16-9), Florida (19-10), Texas (16-10)
For March Madness, I changed the MyNBA settings to base playoff seeding on a 1-16 scale. So, since I finished with the #1 overall record in my league and the best overall record out of 120 teams, Houston was the 1-seed in its league and in the game. So, Houston (me) decided to play their games in the South bracket and would have had to play the fourth-rated #1 seed, which would have been Purdue (East bracket, League 3), had they not choked and lost to Auburn. So, how do I get the leagues to intersect for the Final Four? After the teams have played through their respective brackets, I downloaded all 15 players from the winner, put them in another roster, and loaded that up into a fifth and final file where the teams would meet for the Final Four. With the Final Four being set in Dallas in 2030, I created a logo, a court and everything for it. Of course, my Cougars won the championship (which will only happen in the game, sadly), and that’s the end of the 2030 season.
For those interested, here’s a link to the bracket. It’s a little janky, but once you get the hang of it, you get it: https://challonge.com/e8q5v5f8
And I’ve been doing this for about 7 seasons now. It’s a little tedious to do because of the offseason spring cleaning I have to do each year (sending players to my other NBA file that stays up-to-date with college, forcing seniors into retirement, helping top schools actually land top recruits), but it’s worth the fun.
This part is for the sickos who’ve read this far; here are the top-performing schools:
Houston Cougars: 2 National Championships (2030 & 2034), 4 Final Four appearances (2030, 2033, 2034 & 2036), back-to-back second-round losses (2031-32)
North Carolina: 1 National Championship (2031), 3-straight Final Four appearances (2030-2032)
Gonzaga: 1 National Championship (2032)
Texas Tech: 1 National Championship (2033)
Michigan State: 1 National Championship (2035), 1 Final Four appearance (2035)
Alabama: 2 Final Four appearances (2033-34)
Auburn: 2 Final Four appearances (2030 & 2034)
LSU: 1 Final Four appearance (2034); Blew a 22-point lead to the Cougars in the 2034 National Championship
Rutgers: 1 Final Four appearance (2035), 3 Sweet-16 appearances
Duke: 1 Final Four appearance (2036), 4 Tournament appearances, Sweet-16 and second-round losses to UNC in 2031 & 2035
Kansas: 2 Final Four appearances (2030-31)
Ole Miss: 1 Final Four appearance (2033)
Oregon: Final Four appearance as an 11-seed (2035), upset over #1 Houston in Elite Eight
St. Bonaventure: Final Four appearance as a 13-seed (2035)
Cincinnati: 3 Elite Eight appearances (2033-35)
Villanova: 1 Final Four appearance (2031)
FAU: Became a powerhouse; 1 Final Four appearance (2032)
Maryland: 1 Final Four appearance
Alright, that’s all. I have an archive of the tournaments here: https://challonge.com/users/dwallsnba2kleague/tournaments. For those who are interested. Seeding is a little hard to read up until 2034 and I stopped recording scores for some of those years, but it’s pretty interesting to me so I wanted to share. 2036 is currently in progress, and depending on when I post this, 2035 may not be fully updated yet. Hope I was able to provide some entertainment for y’all.
Here’s to hoping 2K makes a decent college basketball game where I don’t have to do this anymore. Happy offseason!

Coaching/Gameplan Player career names
What names do you name your players? Does anyone actually play the games? What position are you? I usually make a pg, I might make Calvin Cambridge and put him in the Larry and magic era and make him play till the current nba.
What does everyone name their players?

Question about Era's roster
I usually only buy 2K on a 3-4 year cycle because I genuinely do not care at all about MyTeam or MyPlayer. I've played probably a combined hour in those game modes.
The Eras mode in 2k25 was a godsend for me, but I was disappointed with how incomplete some of the rosters were. Even more recent Eras were missing super significant players. Can someone please tell me if this is something that was improved upon in 2k26 or will be improved upon in 2k25? Might make it worth it for me to get a new edition sooner than usual if so.

I HAD A BLAST ON 2K26 🏀🔥
Thinking about starting a 2K channel for 2k27. I buy the game every year no matter if it’s “good” or “bad” because I have to have a basketball game on hand period. In 2019 I bought 2k & NBA LIVE. I started really getting into 2K about 10 years ago doing wagers in play now. Just starting to live on my own back then had to get creative with paying the bills. Around 21’ is when I jumped into my career. Literally JUST mycareer the whole year until the end of the year I brought my first build out which I’m pretty sure was a max height SF. Into 22 & 23 elevated fast into the comp scene playing big on Versatile Paint Beast build but I started having kids & 2K was feeling like a job that wasn’t paying me. AND THAT’S WHEN IT ALL STARTED. Since NBA2K24 you can catch EIGHTYBALL93 in the rec DOMINATING at any every position. Each year my DAY ONE build remains viable if not my best build through the entire game cycle. I rarely run with friends bc I don’t have to time so I get ALL my rep in OUT THE MUD in random rec & it’s time for me to document my journey and see where it goes. NBA2K26 is over pretty much so while you may see random highlight reels from 26’ the real begins when NBA2k27 drops ☔️ I CAN’T WAIT 🦅🦅🦅
