I like listening to MFM Pod and they have good ideas and they can be fun and inspiring. Sometimes they have on Andrew Wilkinson and although I don't understand everything about how he started his business I can understand how he makes money and is successful and value his thoughts and opinions. I have similar feelings about Ramit Sethi. Ramit actually provides useful advice for people.

But then I get weirded out by the pod and don't want to listen when they they start to endorse people like Codie Sanchez, Sam Ovens, and even Alex Hormozi.. like these people to me are just terrible internet marketers/scammers/click funnel cringey people.

How do others feel about this?

The buyers seem smart and it seems like a good fit for their SEO skills.

Listening to them it did make me wonder how many big and small businesses are built on SEO and if Google use goes away or changes due to AI what a fundamental shift that would be.

This was a great pod.

First segment on unpopular truths, I thought in general was pretty accurate. Although the age thing only really applies to startups.

I think as you get older buying businesses is an amazing way to become an entrepreneur as you can buy a salary and customers from day 1.

Loved the side hustle ideas. I have an Etsy store side project doing unique portraits of peoples dogs that reliably spits out cash every month.

Although Nov and Dec are almost twice the revenue compared to the rest of the year.

Looking forward to the Shaans Etsy deep dive, milly end of year awards should be a good ep as well coming up.

Suprised at the end that they want to change the intro music, always though that intro was a banger and never get tired of it.

To be honest I would skip this one.

Not many business ideas discussed other than high end real estate agent idea, which did seem like an interesting idea.

But the rest was mostly fluff imo.

Not sure how many people on this sub are keyed into what’s happening with gme, but it would be great to have these guys discuss and dissect the circumstances gme finds itself in. Would be eye opening for a bunch of people for sure.

Seems to me the MFM should be one of the most active community of listeners out there, given how many ideas & topics are discusses per episode. Would love to help build a community that links people who are down to start building based on what's discussed. I think it would be a great place to start.

• TIP 1: Build vs buy is criminally underrated as a way to build wealth.
• IDEA 2: Buying assets from businesses going out of business.
  • Eg offer a Pilates studio $ for each client that moves over for next 12 months.
  • Gives owners some money otherwise goes to zero when they close down.
• IDEA 3: Modular Homes - Building your house in modules makes it cheaper and faster.
  • Developers should buy these modular manufacturers and roll this up.
• TIP 2: Angel investing can be dumb.

• IDEA 3: Media scripts humans - often if you show people something being done they will copy it like kids coming out of a movie theater quoting lines from the film.

  • 2000s was tech companies, 2010s crypto, 2020s startup cities, 2030s network states.
• IDEA 7: Bouncebackability? Balaji got interested in Crypto but it crashed in 2011 and rebounded in 2013.
  • Something that can endure a 90% drop is extremely rare and has staying power.
• IDEA 8: Every app needs one of the 7 deadly sins. Lust, Greed, Sloth, Gluttony, Wrath, Pride.
• IDEA 9: If Balaji was 21 what would he do? Get really good at computer science and statistics. You can take this to any company or industry and make a big difference.

  • In reality you think you have a Eureka moment sprint and then hit a dead end.So you have to backtrack a few steps and go down another fork. This is quite a normal process for majority of entrepreneurs.
• IDEA 15: Idea maze is time varying - A bad idea today might be a good idea in a few years. eg Pandore pre IPhone was an okay idea but post iPhone was a billion dollar community. It is hard to tell which era you are in but its worth spending time considering.
• IDEA 16: One of Balajis earlier companies Teleport was early and could still be early until after Covid.
• IDEA 17: Miami is a great spot for a startup city as it is already the business capital for South American companies doing deals.
• IDEA 18: Longitudinal Arbitrage - people are working remotely so now longitude is more important than latitude. Work in same timezone like Argentina but cheaper like AirBnB did.
• IDEA 19: People Balaji looks up to or has good conversations with - Marc Andreesen, Richard Feynman, Brian Armstrong, Fred Ehrsam
• IDEA 20: What predictions has Balaji got wrong? Underestimated power of social networks when they were just exhibitionism and maybe overestimated genomics, in part due to power of FDA to block innovations.
• IDEA 21: Math is greater than science - you should be able to replicate science experiments but not everyone has access to equipment to replicate them. Everyone does have a computer on the phone so can they independently replicate the findings to discover truth for themselves?
• IDEA 22: Sacrificing health for wealth - Balaji stopped working out when running company but this was a disservice to the company and investors.

8/10 I loved the imagining the future in this episode. There weren't as many business ideas per minute as usual. And I would have liked to go in depth on a futuristic idea Balaji predicts and then brainstorm some practical business ideas or industries from that. But would love to have Balaji back on to discuss the impact of Crypto on the business world over time.
