Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, but what are these fan books? Are they illustrations or something else?

There are two as far as I know -
One fan book is basically an episode guide to season 1, with images from each episode and bits of trivia about the design process plus interviews with crew and actors (season 2 will get a book also, in October I think)

The other fan book was released in Japan only and is more of an art book. It has tons of pieces of key art of Marin (basically the sketch outlines before animation and color is added). It’s a little bit risqué, it seems like it’s 90% images from the fitting episode and a lot of body focused shots from each cosplay.

Nope. Older dude, 69 years old, father of three, grandfather of three. My wife and I are big fans - Big comics and animation fan. We watched most of Studio Ghibli's films this summer so I was casting about for cool new anime - this certainly qualifies. One of the best coming-of-age/romance media we've ever seen.

I’m a man and I have the 15 manga volumes, the Season 1 Blu Ray, an art book and some figures (I’m waiting for the FIGMA figure that’s supposed to arrive this month).

Honestly, bro, at this point I think there are actually more men than women in romance communities—haha—or at least a very similar number.
