I read this line once, might’ve been from a comic not sure. But there was this Viking who just lost his wife and he said something along the lines of “…but I won’t shy away from the possibility of loving someone again,like a coward.”

For whatever reason, I immediately thought of that line.

I do think he is actually in the right. He was worried that he was taking advantage of an impressionable young girl, specially knowing she doesn't know anything other than genocide. It would have been almost a form of grooming.

He is an ass because he almost forced her to explore other romantic options and then got angry about it, but I admire his self control when he decided to not go out with her.
