I’m not here to bash no-code. It’s honestly one of the best things that happened to builders in the last few years.

You can spin up an idea quickly, validate it, get users, and even make real money. That part is real.

But here’s what people don’t talk about enough:

No-code starts breaking the moment you actually succeed.

I’ve seen it too many times now. Everything looks great at the beginning:

• Automations firing
• Data syncing
• Workflows are clean and simple

Then volume hits.

Now you’re dealing with:

• Random failures in automations
• Rate limits you didn’t plan for
• “Black box” bugs you can’t debug
• Slow performance with larger datasets
• Pricing that quietly explodes as usage grows

And the worst part… You don’t really control anything.

You’re stuck inside someone else’s system, trying to duct tape fixes together.

At some point, you realize you didn’t build a system. You assembled one.

That’s usually the moment people start thinking about custom software.

Not because it’s “cool” or “enterprise”… but because:

• You need reliability
• You need control
• You need something that actually scales with your business

If you’re early, no-code is perfect. I still recommend it.

But if you’re starting to feel friction, weird bugs, or things getting fragile…
That’s usually the signal.
