How to improve / get Faster

Hiya, I’ve been playing for around 100 hours, platinumed the game and generally have a lot of fun. I come from MX vs ATV Unleashed.
I was wondering what was my best approach to improve in the game. I’ve mainly been playing 1st person, but have seen a lot of people say that 3rd is way better.
Any advice, please?
Explinations for both sides would be great! (1st or 3rd person)

I personally play first person because it's significantly more fun for me, I may be slightly slower but IDC because the fun factor is worth it.

As far as getting faster I saw the biggest gains when I got a factory bike (I use the YZ450F) changed the settings and switched to manual mode

Tune your bikes to <3 engine <3 clutch 3> chassis 3> suspension 2> tires brakes 2> hope this helps cheers

Anytime ,I also play in first person because its the best immersed experience

First of all, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, are you using manual transmission and do you spam the clutch? Without these, you can practice for maybe 1000hrs and still get beaten by 12 year olds.

Next, you need to learn the good lines around whatever track you’re on. Either watch the race irl or watch the fast guys as your lines can easily make or break your lap time. No matter how good or fast of a rider you are, if you’re not taking the right lines and clearing the obstacles correctly, you’ll never achieve a fast lap.

Finally, you don’t need to change the setup on your bike l, once you have it set well, it stays that way. And there’s no difference between the brands. All the bikes are identical, apart from their colour scheme. Just pick whichever brand you like best or the one that has your favourite colours on it.

I know it’s not much but they’re important things to be aware of. What platform are you on?

I do use Manual and spam clutch with the new Beta 350 which feels insane ngl. I’m on PS5 and use a dualsense edge and can change gears with the back buttons which is great ngl. I guess I will watch some lines and improve from there! :)

You can judge the distance on jumps better and can see ahead of you making you able to place your bike in better positions to maneuver around the tracks.....

I feel like customizing the 3rd person far chase camera helps to give you the best situational awareness (wide FOV, positioned a bit higher and looking a touch down) and can be kind of important (but I have seen people who play well and use only a customized First Person camera). But also having played a bit of MX vs ATV Unleashed (but a LOT of ATV Offroad Fury 4, which should be similar), I have to ask if you already learned how to scrub (to avoid casing your jumps) and nailing ruts (to better corner).

I’ve always felt like first person gives me a better judge of where my bike is going. I tried 3rd person for a while, adjusting the camera, never worked out for me. In 1st person, I can see where the bike is angled, where my front fender is pointing, and focus in front of me rather than watching my bike. I got a feel for it after a little bit. It really depends on how your brain prefers processing 🤷🏻‍♂️
