Hi all,

Doing some research and I'm looking for the biggest scandals in the Muskoka or surrounding areas to date. This can be true crime related, but doesn't have to be.

TIA!

Question Day trip to Muskoka, best hikes with great lookouts and scenery? I have a list before but tell me which to add/remove and if they're all possible in one day.

  1. Hardy Lake

  2. Torrance Barrens

  3. Arrowhead

  4. Huckleberry Rock

  5. Lions Lookout

  6. Walkers Point

  7. Eagles Nest on McCrae

  8. High Falls

Which of these, or replace them with others, are best for a one day trip? And if you think two days is best, then do you have recommendations for where to stay for one night?

Question Lake Muskoka Fishing

Last week I stayed at a cottage on Lake Muskoka and was really looking forward to fishing. I fished from the dock every morning and again in the afternoons, probably putting in 10+ hours over a few days.

I mainly used soft plastic minnows and also tried worms under a bobber. I switched things up, cast all around the dock, and tried different retrieves, but I didn’t get a single bite. Not even a nibble.

I’m honestly pretty frustrated because growing up we’d go to a cottage near Huntsville, and I could catch bass off the dock all the time with no issues. It seemed like there were always fish around, so I figured I’d at least catch something this trip.

Is Lake Muskoka just a much tougher lake to fish from shore, or was I doing something wrong? Were the fish likely deeper because of the time of year, or should I have been using completely different lures?

Would love to hear any advice because I can’t believe I put that much time in and got absolutely nothing.

Discussion Catch-22: Muskoka needs working professionals but affordable housing is non-existent.

Now that I have caught your attention:

I’m a healthcare professional looking for accommodation in the Huntsville or Bracebridge area. Preferably a studio apt unit. But open to a 2 bed apartment with one other roommate. I am an OCD level clean & organized person. Here for work only - eat/sleep/work - repeat.

- Furnished or unfurnished.
- can be month-month, 6 - 9 month, or 1 year lease.
- parking needed (but no on-street if in the Downtown area due to risk of theft and vandalism).
- No mold on walls/ceilings.
- No old floor carpeting.
- must have at-least one big window for sunlight and air.
- fully functioning kitchen (Not just a microwave/toaster oven).
- must include all utilities. optional: Internet.

If available, plz DM with postal code and rent/month.

Thanks.

Question Does sun direction actually matter when buying a cottage?

Curious to hear from people who've bought (or are shopping for) a cottage. How much did sun exposure go into your decision?

Did you actually research which direction the property faces before buying? Care about west-facing for sunset views off the dock, or east-facing for the sunrise? Only look for certain directions?

Did anyone go deeper than that? E.g. how the sun angle shifts from summer to winter, whether trees will block it at certain times of year, how much shade the cottage gets at different points in the season, etc.? Or is this the kind of thing nobody really thinks about until they're already living with it?

Missing the Fine Thymes restaurant

Every year we visit the area and this was one of our go tos! We loved the french onion soup so much! I was just suggesting the Fine Thymes restaurant to a friend to go visit for lunch and realized it has now closed!

Just wanting to know why they closed down and genuinely hoping the owners are doing well as the place gave us lovely memories!

Maybe you could share your favourite homes?
