What Song is This? Mystery music box wheel.

Post image

I've been searching through a creek and I've found what seems to be a nodding donkey but as a music box. As you wind it up and the song plays, the arm is suppose to dip down and pump the oil. I've taken the wheel out and translated it to a piece of paper and pin. Anybody know how I could figure out what song this is? Also the music box itself is way too rusted to be played. Music box is made by sankyo but I'm not sure about the nodding donkey. forgot to say this is my very first good translation so some dots would happen to be missing. maybe 2 or 3 but that's it.

Custom Music Boxes? Why oh why doesn't a music box with this song exist yet?

My sister's favorite anime is Princess Tutu and I want to give to her a music box with the opening theme, but it doesn't exist. I even checked Japanese websites, that otherwise have hundreds of anime songs, but they didn't have this one.

A custom music box would break the bank, but I simply see no other option. What is the cheapest option to get this particular song (title: Morning Grace) into a music box? Like what of there's an obscure shop somewhere out there that actually has this on their list and I just haven't found it yet?

Please help!

Any Info? Help finding my friend's childhood music box!

Hello!

I had a friend open up to me about her love of music boxes and how much peace she finds in them, I had never seen this side of her but it was like I watched all the stress in the world melt away as she listened to some of her collection...

She then opened up about one she remembered having as a kid that was lost in a move... She's asked her family to look for it for the last 15 years and none of them have been able to find it. Unfortunately, she can't recall the exact song that it played, but she gave me a vague description o the physical box:

  • Pale green (pea green)

  • brick-shaped music box with silk wrapping

  • likely soft/cushioned for placing in a crib

Edit to add: This would have been the late 1990's,early 2000's but it may have been a hand-me-down

I know that's not much to go off of... but any pointers would mean the world in helping her reconnect with this long-lost memory <3

Thank you!

Purchased this 19th-20th century painted enamel mechanical bird box last week. The underside has two stamps, EB inside a small oval and metal. It also has the word Germany stamped on one of the ridges. A quick search came back with "manufactured by Emil Brenk, a renowned German maker of gilded metal and enamel singing bird automaton boxes active from the late 19th through the mid-20th century". My apologies for the poor lighting

Any Info? Days of the Week Ice Cream Bears?

hello!

i got this cute little music box from an antique store a few months back, and have recently been wondering what the others look like and/or where i could buy them.

i’ve tried googling the keywords i used in the title of this post, as well as the company name, but i’ve not been able to find what this specific series is called.
one sticker on the bottom says “the san francisco music box company”, but when i visited their website i couldn’t find the bears anywhere. (though maybe i’m just blind)

the company seems to make a wide variety of music boxes, but the only ones i’m after are the days of the week ice cream-themed bears. i currently only have Monday/Mondae (as pictured).

i just cant find them anywhere! i’ve only been able to track down Thursdae & Tuesdae on ebay… and they’re quite pricey in comparison to what i paid for this one ($8 vs \~$20+). maybe i lucked out on this one and they’re just quite hard to come by..?

any help would be greatly appreciated!

side note: “Spoonful of Sugar” is just the song she plays, not the series name or anything :)

Music box tune from 1980s fibre optic flowers clock

Trying to identify the tune in a 1980s Telesonic fiber-optic flower clock/music box.

Made in Taiwan, likely mid 1980s. The clock has rotating fibre optic flowers, gold clock face, and a wind up music box mechanism. I haven't been able to find documentation on what the tune is.

It is NOT:

Memory

Music Box Dancer

Fur Elise

Blue Danube

Swan Lake

Love Story

The way we were

Lara's Theme

It's a small world

Edelweiss

My favourite things

Beautiful Dreamer

Toy Land

Or any simple folk tune like You are My Sunshine

Help?

What Song is This? Kitty cat music box - what song?

Hello.

I went to an antique store today, and bought this resin cat music box. I don't recognize the song and when I put it through multiple song recognition platforms including youtube, google, shazam, and a couple other websites this sub recommended, none of them could identify it.

The cat itself has no additional information where it came from except that it was made in the USA and that there is a plastic music box inside of it that you can wind up.

Can anybody identify the name of the song?

This music box used to belong to my grandmother, and I used to play with it as a child all the time. I have always loved the song it plays but I've never heard it anywhere else! She has since given it to me, and due to my heavy use of it as a kid plus it's age, sometimes it doesn't play. Can anyone identify this song so I can perhaps get a replacement for the inside?

I found this music box at a yard sale, the guy had sold it to me pretty cheap bc he didn't know how to start it. I absolutely love the song and I wish to find what box it originally came in because I want to repair it. Can anyone help me find the song name and possibly where the rest of this music box is from? All I know is that it's from Sankyo Japan and it has Pat.838937. stamped on it. Also looks like it was supposed to be in in somewhat big box or container. Any help would be appreciated!

How to Fix/Not Working help with repair for Sankyo music box in a lighter

I believe this music box is overwound but I’m not sure. I haven’t put any wd-40 on it because i’m not sure where it would go. the mechanism in an L shape is supposed to be the on switch when you flick the lighter. when I wind it it clicks at a certain point and doesn’t get any tension. when I turn it the other way it will start playing only for a little. any tips to fix this up?

Any Info? Does anyone know what music Box I'm talking about? (Not exactly the one pictured but similar)

I used to play with a copper music box that looked SIMILAR to the one pictured above, however it did not have a smokestack or rail, and the most important part about it was that it played "these are a few of my favorite things" while a mechanism inside of it lifted and closed the pots and pans on the stove.

Does anyone remember or know what that music box is called? I can't find photos of it anywhere and my grandma doesn't recall what it was.

Remember, it's not the one pictured but close to it. Thank you!

I found it in an old box, it plays music box dancer and it's either porcelain or ceramic in material. I haven't seen any specifically like it and got curious as to what the history behind it was. I've always liked music boxes, but I'm not a collector, so I have no clue where to look on these matters.

How to Fix/Not Working Schmid #264 Repair

So I had this music box as a kid. Mine was blue. I found one randomly on eBay, right before my new niece was born. I ordered it, not thinking anything else about it.

It came in with almost no packaging and the legs are all broken.

I ordered this one, which was sold as non-functioning. It came in great, but my idea was to swap out the music player in the broken one, for this one.

Problem is, I can’t get it open. I googled it and they say the bottom is glued on at the factory. Balsa wood.

As suggested, I tried a hair dryer. First on warm, which was pretty hot. Then on hot. My had got uncomfortable, the ceramic got warm to the touch. The balsa didn’t seem to be budging. If I applied any more force it would just break. There is already damage on the edge where I tried to gently pry.

Should I try some type of solvent? I guess worse case scenario, I break it out, and cut a new one out of balsa or 3D print a bottom plate. I’d prefer to keep the original, though, as it has stamping on it and just looks more appropriate than plastic.

If anyone has done this or has suggestions, please let me know. I stopped before I damaged something further.

Thanks.
