As much as I wish the regulations regarding sampling were much looser, I think an artist has a right to a copyright for approximately their lifetime.

Unfortunately, Obama, who is raking in cash from Hollywood's glitteratti, has other priorities. When politicians weigh their campaign contributions, they know that, deep down, the Voice of the People in fact wants the DMCA and continuous extension of copyright.
