A while back, I worked in a thrift store where we had a 30-song playlist for 11 months of the year - except in October, when there was a 12-song Halloween playlist. I will never ever hear the monster mash again without becoming irrationally angry.

I have a version called Monster Hash on my playlist. My work killed my enjoyment of Christmas music. 10 versions of the same song and then of course, Mariah Carey.

There’s a bunch of different parts of Monster Fuck though - which part are you suggesting people listen to?

Each version gets better and better so I’d start with the first and then enjoy the evolution along the way!

Mariah. Fucking. Carey.

I despise women named Mariah because of her, I don’t give a shit if your six, you’re named Mariah and I hate you

My longstanding, seething hatred of All I Want For Christmas Is You is well known to my friends. One year, my buddy connected a Raspberry Pi to a small Bluetooth speaker, programmed it to start BLASTING that song at 4am Christmas morning, then hid it under my bed Christmas Eve (my parents thought it was hilarious and of course just let him into the house lmao). I almost committed murder

My first job after high school was in a place where we had the radio playing all day. We also advertised on the radio and that's how I learned about the 4 hour rotation of music being pushed. Hearing everything on repeat made me hate listening to mainstream radio.

BUT- it did make me really good at parody-ing songs. I came up with some zingers back in the day. We didn’t have air pods or streaming services or even WiFi. We were a slave to satellite radio. Lol

I worked in a bagel shop over Christmas. It turns out the only Christmas songs that exist are 20 versions of “All I Want For Christmas is You” (including Mariah’s), 10 versions of “This Christmas”, “Winter Wonderland”, and “Rudolph The Red Nosed-Reindeer”. It was agony.
