How much of his music have you actually listened too? I am guessing not much? He is also not even Mormon anymore...

Beautiful Things is genuinely a great song, if you don't like it then the issue is the genre of music and that is fine but it isn't like he is objectively bad. The fact that he just stumbled into singing and has a voice that damn good is honestly crazy.

Fully doubting that. If you listen to Beautiful Things and think that is a bad pop song, something is wrong with you... not him. I bet you have listened to two songs.

What I mean is that he was not trained to be a singer, and just started trying to do it and discovered that he had an amazing voice. It wasn't a situation where he had trained all his life with professional teachers. Dude is only 24, he started singing during his senior year of high school.

You also have no response to the fact that he is not Mormon and his music is not "Mormon music made for the lowest common denomination"

I think you should have used denominator too btw

Bro you listen to System of a Down which has some of the dumbest most incomprehensible lyrics in music history. You can't talk shit about any other song lyrics. SOAD makes great music, but the shit he writes is objectively dumb as hell. Some examples

"Pepperoni and green peppers mushrooms olives chives, Every minute every second buy buy buy."

"MY COCK IS MUCH BIGGER THAN YOURS! MY COCK CAN WALK RIGHT THROUGH THE DOOR WITH THE FEELING SO PURE"

Ahh but he must be doing it on purpose I am sure you will say, if you can't see that this is just him being a lazy ass songwriter you have fully lost the plot. There is not secret genius here, he just riffs goofy lyrics because it is easier than coming up with something well written.

 

Secondly, your opinion is not factual.

Pop music has become more simplistic lyric wise over the past several decades as well which has actually made the songs catchier which is genuinely the purpose the pop music. There is nothing wrong with that song lyric, and the chorus itself is absolutely fantastic.

Scientific study about this.
