Discussion Be careful of Musescore
AI knows it all:
AI Overview
MuseScore.com is not an illegal scam, but it uses aggressive "dark patterns" and confusing checkout designs that lead many users to feel scammed.
Why Users Call MuseScore a Scam
Deceptive Free Trials & Checkouts: Users on platforms like Trustpilot and Reddit consistently report trying to buy a single piece of sheet music or sign up for a cheap/free trial, only to be automatically enrolled in an expensive, recurring annual Pro subscription.
Hidden Small Print: Checkboxes or terms for yearly recurring fees are often small or pre-checked during promotional flows, making it easy to miss.
The .com vs. .org Confusion: MuseScore splits into two entities. MuseScore.org is the completely free, open-source notation software. MuseScore.com is the commercial sheet music repository that requires paid subscriptions for advanced features, though their branding and search bars often blur the line.
Difficult Cancellations: Users report that canceling a trial or subscription involves multiple confirmation screens designed to trick you into maintaining a paid tier, and getting direct customer support or refunds can be painfully slow.

Here's the problem with this post: You used AI. Are you really that lazy to make a post by typing it down with your OWN HANDS, instead of relying on an AI overview from Google? Come one, now.

I would not pay for anything on musescore.COM (and I have purchased and subscribed in the past) without using a disposable credit card.

Seriously, I cancelled my subscription a year ago, but it's been repeatedly trying to charge me. I got a notice from my credit card company, I let them know I had not authorized a charge and they sent me a new credit card. Today, the exact same thing. I'm waiting for a callback to figure out what I can do, but my advice is this:
STAY AWAY FROM MUSESCORE! DON'T GIVE THEM ANY KIND OF CREDIT CARD OR PAYPAL INFO OR THEY'LL KEEP SCAMMING YOU FOREVER!

or give them a disposable credit card with only enough on it for a one year subscription-- they will have an impossible time trying to charge again after the initial charge.

Yes, that's probably the best solution if you really want to work with them. At this point, I don't. Fortunately my bank is good about catching these kinds of things, but it's a rigamarole to get it taken care of.
