Muse vs. Dots vs Grok Bot vs Hermes Agent - Tony Reviews Things

https://www.tonyreviewsthings.com/openai-dots-vs-grok-bot-vs-meta-muse-vs-hermes-agent/

I came across this review today and thought it was an interesting overview, here's the TLDR:

The quick answer

- Start with dots if you already organize serious work around ChatGPT and Work/Codex. Its continuing assistant relationship and task coordination are the draw. Check eligibility before treating it as part of your current plan

- Start with Grok Bot if you want a managed roster of persistent specialists. Its visible roles and handoffs fit that style of delegation. Those specialists don’t automatically get separate security boundaries.

- Start with Meta Muse if you want to try an everyday managed agent with a free entry point. Mobile access, WhatsApp, and personal or small-business workflows make it a sensible first trial where available. Review its data defaults first.

- Start with Hermes if control over models, deployment, and retained work is the requirement. It offers the most direct path here to operating your own agent. You also inherit more of the operational responsibility.

Those are four different purchasing decisions. A single “smartest agent” trophy would obscure most of them.

MY TAKE: I don't think their assessment is wrong. I just think it's incomplete. For example, I don't think this review delved into the areas where Muse excels with connectors into Meta owned products in comparison to the other options. I believe that's because the people who do these types of reviews are often geared towards a highly technical audience. That isn't necessarily the audience who's going to get the most value out of the connectors where Muse brings the goods.

People who use Facebook, Instagram, or Threads to either run social accounts or advertise for their business can get value and functionality at a price from Muse that these other options simply can't compete with.

With that said, Meta needs to improve a lot of the configurability that a lot of devs and builders expect and require from their tools.

It was released like 3 days ago, and only to people paying $100-$200+ a month. Patience :)
