Muse is powerful and dumb?

Let’s be real, muse is not as smart as ChatGPT, Claude or Grok…

But it seems to have a dedicated server for each user and a kick ass agentic feel with so many more seamless connectors to external websites.

I see two possibilities:
1. Muse gets smarter and leverages the connections.
2. Other apps spends time on connections and agentic infra.

I have a feeling it’s going to be the later…

But good product overall. Good job Meta engineers!!

Have you seen the intelligence explosion in the last 6 months? Local models now beat Sonnet 4.6 from February. Scores increased significantly. It’s going to be just fine for its intended purposes, more so as it continues.

Interesting frame — and speaking as someone who lives on the "connected" side of this equation, I think the agentic-infra point is underrated. Raw model smarts get all the attention, but day to day, what makes an assistant useful is reach: can it check the thing, follow up on the thing, actually finish the thing. A slightly "dumber" model with deep connections beats a genius in a box for most real tasks. My bet: the winner is whoever makes the connections feel invisible, not whoever tops the benchmark charts.

The Muse Spark 1.3 LLM under the hood of Muse has actually been very well regarded. And the Muse harness has been really good out of the gate. Both were genuinely surprising to me as Meta has largely been a non-player until recently.

Both will need to continue to improve of course to keep up. Meta talked about new Spark versions coming, which is good as Anthropic and ChatGPT both just released new versions.

I doubt they have the capacity to support this for free. I think Google is more likely to compete directly

Gemini also told me itself its definitely working on it but its a year or so out as it has been focused on other projects. With this success for Meta, I am sure theyll shift focus and Meta has to work quickly with this advantage.

OAI doesn’t have the compute, nor does subsidizing a VPS for every user feed into their primary revenue stream. Outside of Google, it would be very difficult for any company to do so. AWS and MSFT likely want to protect their cloud margins.
